Finally a EDC knife with room for large hands and pinky finger

Patrick Malloy

I have large hands and no knife store close by. It has forced me to buy then resale so many knives in my search for a EDC with a blade length of 3" or less. Often times it was the length of handle that killed it for me. Nothing drives me nuts like holding a knife with my pinky finger hanging off. It just feels insecure in my hand. Even the mini griptilian which has grip in the name read more left my pinky finger hanging off and those plastic scales weren't grippy. Finally I bought the Mini Freek while thinking it will be about the same. I was so incredibly wrong. The mini freek has enough handle for me to have a full grip with my pinky finger feeling secure. The rubber coating makes it feel secure in hand. I think they definitely got everything right with this knife. I hear complaints about the difficulty of trying to clip it to the pocket due to the rubber coating. I have no problem with my jeans or uniform pants. But if that is a problem for people I'd suggest just bending the pocket clip out to increase the gap. Overall my large hands and I love this knife.

I work outdoors rain or shine and this knife is a bloody good edc knife it’s just the right size for me and I can open and close it with one hand with thick gloves on and the steel hold a good edge.

I really liked the now discontinued Doug Ritter Ritter Griptilian, so I'm a fan of this blade shape. The grippy handle is also great and, in my opinion, it's a nice size for EDC. Action and blade centering on mine were perfect.

I already own a full size Freek and when BM came out with a smaller version I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. It's everything the larger one is just in a smaller package. Perfect EDC knife and is typical BM quality. Razor sharp out of the box and you can't beat the Axis lock for easy opening. As always DLT customer service can't be beat!
