Fantastic knife
This is the first Benchmade knife I've ever ordered, and I could not be happier. The D2 steel is rugged and sharp, the pins are tight but the knife opening is smoother than any butterfly knife I've owned before. I'm especially impressed that the T-latch has a limited rotation so that it can't make contact with the blade and mess it up. I also enjoy the look of the recurve tanto… read more blade, I haven't seen a blade shape quite like it before. I would absolutely recommend this knife to anyone looking for a quality butterfly knife, and I'll probably buy more from Benchmade in the future.
Beautiful Bali
I have owned a BM51 for about 2 years now, EDC'd and recently I felt that I should expand my collection a bit and bought this particular knife because of it's reputation and given my success with other Benchmade products, I figured it was worth a shot. I am not disappointed. Still getting used to the knife over a couple days, it is much heavier than the 51 (to be expected) and as… read more such, carries it's momentum a lot more than the 51, making it great for twirls and over-unders. The blade is simply gorgeous and intimidating, razor sharp out of the box (also to be expected). It is rather heavy and fat compared to the 51 which I was used to, as an EDC this makes it less than desirable. May end up getting flytanium handles to lighten it up a bit but so far, I think this is a solid flipper. It is clear the build quality is present in this knife, albeit the D2 steel is a bit on the lackluster side for a knife at this price point. Wouldn't recommend it as a knife to dive into high end balis, that title IMHO still belongs to the 51, but if you want a knife with more heft to it and a gorgeous blade, look no further.
Beautiful
I've been wanting this knife for ages and finally saved enough to purchase it without regret. It is definitely worth the money, however, it's not so much worth the cuts I've gotten flipping it. This is not a beginner's bali, the weight and extremely sharp blade are quite dangerous. Yet this is by far the most beautiful knife to collect and use.
Benchmade quality, not a good balisong
The blade design is very interesting and sharp. That's about it. The handles are so unevenly balanced that this knife just about slammed down on my fingers like a brick. Forget the blade, the handles will break your fingers, then the blade will cause deep lacerations in your fingers. Honestly, I would look elsewhere for a different balisong. I love a lot of high end knives and believe… read more me, I love Benchmade but, D2 tool steel? Really? For this price S30V should be the minimum standard, then go up from there.
Great knife one issue
When I pay 340 for a knife I expect it to be perfect. This is a great knife my only complant
Is that the blade is not centered and the blade hits and rubbing the inside of the handle and scratching the blade. I also have a benchmade 51 and 62 and they are perfectly flawless . Still this knife is a great knife and razor sharp .
Not a knife for flipping.
Its a great knife to play with. And edc. Its not a great flipper unless you add Flyti handles.
Great!!!
Very heavy knife but is a great flipper for those who flip heavy. Be careful of the blade though, extremely sharp
Beautiful Knife
If you enjoy a heavy flipper, this is the knife for you. The fluidity of the knife feels amazing as it rolls through your fingers. Be warned though, this blade will punish you. Having tricks down on a trainer first is a good idea because this knife will give you stitches. Beautiful craftsmanship (Recommend putting a bit of weak Loctite in the pivot screws though just to ensure they… read more don't undo themselves).
Solid knife
Just got this in the mail today, and I LOVE it. The feel is great, the weight is great, and you can tell the workmanship is great. Thanks BladeHQ!
Great flipper
I previously owned a 51 morpho so I was a little shocked by the weight at first but once I got used to it I was able to flip it smooth as butter.
BM67
This is a really great bali, its heavy so its not as easy to flip but once you get used to it its pretty good, the tolerances are tight and the fit and finish is A1 nice job benchmade
Listen here, bud.
This is my most expensive and nicest quality balisong. I DO NOT regret buying this balisong, I have been flipping for about 5 years and I know what i'm doing. This knife is RAZOR sharp, as this gave me my first really bad cut (luckily no stitches). It is heavy but not in a bad way, if you own a Kimura its somewhat similar in weight, but the handles flip completely different. This… read more is not a forgiving blade, there is no "Kicker" near the bottom, but there is a small what I call, extra tip of the blade next to the butterfly stamp. That'll slice right into your finger with ease. Overall this is a great buy. 100% would buy again, even though my next bali will be a 51 morpho, or a BRS Rep.
GREAT KNIFE BUT NOT BETTER THAN 42
It has a great fit and finish, flips smoothly, sharp and would make a great collector item. It would be superb it is had longer handles, channel construction and titanium handles.
PS: I called benchmade factory and they do factory loctite there screws and for this series and morpho they use red loctite. I saw it myself when I almost stripped screw trying to apply threadlocker…

and I sent it back to benchmade fOr repair. If both the pivot and screw rotate together it means the loctite has sealed but not as most people would prefer.SO DO NOT TAKE OUT SCREWS FLIP FLIP UNTIL THEY BACKOUT AND THEY PROBABLY WONT ANYWAY.
And taking out pivot screw to apply adhesive does not void warranty. Disassembly means taking knife apart piece by piece not adjusting pivot screw. I called and benchmade verified
This this is fluid metal!!!
So it is on the heavy side but man does it glide. Cant wait to throw some flytanium on these!!! Whats flytanium you ask??? You better ask somebody!!!!
LOVE THIS KNIFE
First quality balisong I've ever owned and I don't regret it. It flips great and carries momentum really smoothly. Really sweet knife and my favorite flipper.
Extremely Versatile Balisong
This was my first Balisong and my absolute favorite. The blade pierces like an American Tanto, slices like a Hawkbill, and chops like a small Kukri. It can be used as an edc, recreational, and even a tactical knife. The heavy handles allow for effortless thrusting and devastating pommel strikes for less than lethal purposes. Overall, this knife is great for anyone and everyone that… read more wants an extremely high quality balisong that can take anything you can throw at it.
My favorite flipper!!!!
This was my first high quality flipper that got me into the hardcore stuff. Soon I'm going to get Ti handles for it and anodize the handles to my liking. But if you are a flipper, or a general collector, grab one of these. It'll look beautiful in a display case and flipping around in your hands.
One Beast of a knife
This thing is built like a tank. It's a little heavy for me but flips really well. The blade on this thing is what makes the knife. The only thing I would change is the latch. I wish it had a spring loaded latch.
