Ratings and Reviews
After 5 years of near abuse.
I bought this knife at bass pro just about 5 years ago today.
I used this knife for landscape/construction/bushcrafting tasks and it does the job well and has held up great. Keep reading for more in-depth review.
Before this I always carried a Kershaw, I loved the way they felt and the way the blade and handle always complemented each other, when in use and to the…

eye. I felt the same way about this knife when I bought it, so I was willing to pay more than double what i usually would. In doing that you're somewhat compensated with quality craftsmanship and construction. I say somewhat because the materials used can be bought on other knives of similar quality for cheaper.
I've carried this knife almost every single day for the past 5 years and it is my absolute favorite knife out of my collection, I've cut the rope with it, plastic, copper, graphite, coconuts, unfortunately. I have used it to whittle, I've batoned quite a few pieces of wood with it, I accidentally hit a piece of rebar while cutting through some weeds, the blade had the tiniest chip and roll it was able to be sharpened and buffed out without more effort than a normal touch up. It has held up fantastically the past five years and nothing has malfunctioned or loosed aside from the pivot screw which I just tighten every once in a while, without Loctite. It has taken wear nicely, not a spec of rust and I don't typically oil the blade itself, and still looks presentable aside from a gouge in the aluminum bolster scale. I can still get it as sharp as I want and all I need is a pocket clip In another year after this replacement wears out. All In all, it is worth the money even if it costs a little more than it could. I absolutely recommend the Crooked River as an everyday carry because it accomplishes tasks that would break a gas station knife in a few months. It is just a tank for what it is
Beautiful Benchmade
I love the size of this beauty. I just got it today so I can't comment on it's durability but I absolutely love everything so far. I didn't have to adjust a thing, it's lined up properly and the action is nice and smooth. I prefer larger blades and this one fits the bill without feeling like a brick in my pocket. Shaving sharp out of the box. This is my first purchase from BladeHQ… read more and I'm 100% satisfied. Ordered it on Saturday and got it two days later on Monday with free shipping. Outstanding service! I will be a returning customer for sure.
Work Horse
First of all this knife is a beast. It is great for everyday tasks and is super sharp. Because it’s a Benchmade it feels great in the hand and can fill different roles. Both function and form are present here.
The crooked river
got my crooked river after getting a mini grip and not being satisfied with it so I took it back to rei and with more money and upgraded to the crooked river. I love the knife it fits my hands very nicely and the blade length is right where I like it. however, it does have a problem all be it minor. when I got it it had a slight bit of play to the left and right. but other than… read more that I love it and edc it every day when I am not at school. it is easy to hone and stays sharp for a long time. this was the first Benchmade I ever bought and it replaced my opinel no. 10 which I had carried for roughly 2 years before. I wish Benchmade hadn't chosen grey for the bolster and something better like copper. one other qualm is the lack of an aftermarket for these things because I got plans for this thing and don't really see what I need to make it truly mine. overall excellent knife and highly recommended.
Best EDC ever!
I have carried folders from every major knife maker out there and I have to say the BM Crooked River is my favourite! I love the modified clip point blade shape and the scales are beautifully finished and fit my hand perfectly. This is also the first knife I have owned that has the bevels set correctly from the factory and didn’t require sharpening right outta the box. Shaving… read more sharp right from the get-go; I am very impressed with the O/A quality of this blade! Definitely on the high end of the price spectrum but worth every penny!
Big and beautiful
This knife is big and I am looking forward to Benchmade releasing the little brother of this knife in their 2018 line-up. But, this is a real beauty. The looks are modern with the orange spacer but the synthetic material of the handle looks like traditional wood grain but isn't actually wood. The blade shape is practical and razor sharp and the blade glides effortlessly when you… read more release the Axis lock. If you want a somewhat large folder, it's hard to go wrong with this one.

Excellent knife as expected from Benchmade
Right at home in the field as it also would be right at Home in a tactical situation despite looking gloriously non tactical
This is a great knife!
This is a great knife! I don't know why I waited so long to buy it. I also had great service and fast shipping from DLT. Thanks Guys!
A lot of knife for the money
Usually benchmades are kinda pricy. But in this case I think the knife is right where it should be in terms of price. Beautiful handle scales and a big CHUNK of s30v which takes a very good edge! And it's got a perfect sharpening choil! I also believe this is the biggest non assist axis lock they make but I may be wrong.
The obvious succesor of the buck 110
This is what a knife should be, Nice contoured handle, big blade, and of course and super important GORGEOUS, this has to be the prettiest knife in my collection -and the biggest one- bigger than a Gerber 06, bigger than a PM2.
This is an excelent piece of equipment and what a knife should be, NICE WORK BENCHMADE!
She's Perfect!
This is the first Benchmade knife I have ever owned and I love it. I had been looking at the Crooked River for the longest time and when I finally got my hands on it, I was blown away. I have never had a knife this sharp right out of the box. The detail they put into this knife is outstanding. The wood handles and the orange accents really make it stand out. This is now my daily… read more carry and always will be... at least until I get my next Benchmade.
Mucho a lot awesome knife!
This is the first Benchmade I picked up. Replaced it with my Buck 110. I still love the 110 I'm probably gonna get some crap for saying that. But oh well, the crooked river is a beautiful knife definitely a beast. There are other knife companies not knocking them or anyone else. Benchmade has captured my attention, heart and my wallet. What more can I say that already hasn't been… read more said about this knife. Gift or present for yourself, it's not going to disappoint. Looking forward to the mini crooked river! Unfortunately didn't know about blade hq until recently signed not to long ago. But I plan on doing my knife shopping here from now on.

Came in super sharp and this knife is absolutely amazing. Good balance, good weight and one of my favorite EDC knives to use.

This was my first knife over $50
This was very much worth the money. I tend to save as much as possible but when I wanted a great cutting tool this was the perfect fit for me. Benchmade does s30v very well and along with the blade shape this has quickly became one of my favorite knives. I’ve only had mine for half a year and it’s still razor sharp. The Orange may be off putting at first but once you have it,… read more it grows on you but the Orange space stands out well when I’m your pocket.
Love it!
I love big knives and this one fits the bill! It’s light enough for an EDC but strong enough for some serious skinning!

Superior Knife
Can't believe there aren't more reviews for this knife. I got mine from a local dealer. Had it for a month now. It's an amazing knife. The steel and grind is phenomenal. I'm buying a second one and putting it in the safe for the future. Perfectly balanced, just enough weight. Anyone who is serious about outdoor activities (hiking, climbing, camping etc) should have this knife. There is not much I can add that has not been already said about this knife. The other reviews are spot on. You will not be disappointed if your purchase this knife. As always BHQs customer service cannot be beat!
Beautiful Knife
This is my 4th Benchmade knife and the best. I have SOG, Spyderco, Buck, and Victorinox knives in my collection. This is by far the best of any of them for my EDC knife. I still use my other knives for certain tasks, but this knife is sleek, feels great in my hand, the looks are tremendous, and everyone stands back when you snap open a 4 inch blade. This knife is not just for hunting.… read more It can be used like any every day carry knife. It has all the bells and whistles that any good benchmade knife has, Axis lock, great steel, and wonderful grips. Some people complain about the orange color, but it is a hunting knife and hunters wear orange so they don't get shot at. The orange matches that reasoning. I think it looks great together with wood and steel colors. If you want the Mercedes of knives, get this one.
I'm Done Knife Shopping
I have been on the hunt for my perfect EDC knife that meets my needs in every situation and exceeds my needs at times as well. After years of searching I have found my perfect EDC knife that can do anything I require of it, and does most tasks better than I could have asked for. Sleek design, I love the wood handles, smooth as silk action, and of course it's razor sharp. Pictures do this blade no justice...
The pictures do this knife no justice. The blade is strong, sharp, and sturdy. The handle is solid and made from beautiful cuts of wood. The action is smooth and fast. The pocket clip is perfect, it sets the knife at the perfect height in the pocket. I am definitely not a fan of orange, usually, but the orange accents on this knife just plain work and give it a sense of elegance.…

And as always, BladeHQ customer service was on point! (no pun intended.)
Amazing knife!
This knife is so beautiful. Feels perfect in the hand. Super smooth out of the box. Typical high quality Benchmade knife. Also BladeHQ has the best service in the business.
Gorgeous
Absolutely beautiful knife. Very strong, and has a good weight to it. Solid lock up like you'd expect from Benchmade. Feels great in the hand. The addition of orange adds a nice pop to the dymondwood handle scales. Solid lockup. This knife came scary sharp. This will replace my para 2 as my large EDC.
