BENCHMADE QUALITY

Jeffrey C.

So well made. Typical BenchMade quality. Very smooth. ZERO blade play. No wobble. I own a lot of OTF knifes. And this has got to be my number one. Next up would be my collection of Guardian Tactical OTFs. But thats another review. By the way. This BenchMade was bought from BHQ. Buy this OTF. You wont regret it. I hope this helps. Jef C.

Just don't bother

I've handled several infidels and microtechs, heretics, and guardian tacical OTF's. Benchmade makes by far, the most overpriced ones on the market. Sure it's not hot garbage, but for $400 it is. This should be around $100 realistically. Buy a microtech, it's better in every single way and will actually last, at a better price too.

Waited a long time to buy

I've wanted an Infidel for years, the price was always a little prohibitive. I finally got over it and I'm glad I did. Solid knife, smooth action, razor sharp out of the box.

Wow.

I have several OTF-type automatics and this one definitely takes the cake.

It arrived perfectly and carefully packed in an original box and inside a holster. It was mercifully free of any blemishes or oil on the blade and handle.

The action is solid, satisfying and pretty unbelievable considering the size of the blade. It's well-constructed, feels good in the hand read more and even has a feel of balance that I haven't had before with OTF knives. The handle is textured and definitely customized for this particular model. I particularly love the ridges under the release that allow for a better grip.

I have nothing negative to say about this knife. It's amazing.

My 1st OTF!

I was very pleased with this OTF when I got it out of the box. Very well made and SOLID! Looks and feels great in the hand as well. Just started buying a few knives and the video helped with the decision. Purchased 2 other styles of knives from BladeHQ and Iove them as well. Thanks!

Sweet piece

Definitely not an EDC. But one of my favorite talking pieces. Well constructed fun to use and my friends love it. Its sure to start a conversation.

Great Knife

The knife I received arrived in a factory sealed box and was absolutely perfect. I carry one just like this one on a daily basis and I wanted to have second one in perfect condition for my collection. I prefer this knife to side-opening knives because it is easier to open under stress, it doesn't open accidentally in your pocket, and it's easier to keep clean and lubricated. I just read more put the end of the long red pipe of my spray can of silicone up against the cleaning port of the knife and spray.

great knife. solid action and very cool too
boot my only regret is 2 days later they offered the knife for $60.00 less for a fathers day discount. if I had known I would have waited. disappointed I was not offered that option.

This knife is awesome! Its actually pretty lightweight in the hand and so snappy! I would highly recommend it.

Its the Final Boss knife

Lets be honest, youre not buying this to cut apples, unless theyre Adams apples. Its the one you pack as a backup to your gun and maybe even your primary weapon when a gun isnt allowed. Its a weapon and its for peace of mind. So go big or go home. Get a dagger. I got the black coated dagger just so that if I did need to open a letter or something, at least it makes it a couple factors read more more discrete. The satin would practically look like Excalibur in the light.

It deploys and sheaths with great ease and precision. It just reeks of quality. Razor sharp out of the box and I intend to use the Benchmade free warranty and sharpening program a couple times a year rather than trying to sharpen it myself.

If youre considering this knife youre probably like me and have plenty of folders and other EDC knives. This is the emotional purchase. Standing on the other side of having spent $450 and having carried it around for a bit I have to say that I dont regret it at all. What an amazing piece of engineering.

Good for what it is

OTF knives are a mixed bag. They're cool, but not practical. Dagger-grind blades, same deal.

This is a better-than-average OTF.
The action is smooth enough, the lockup is strong enough. A compromise, but a sensible compromise. It isn't a Sandshark, but those things were a pain to open.

Build quality is good. This isn't a Hawk Deadlock, but it compares fairly well read more with Microtech OTFs.

The strangest thing about this knife is the choice of steel. D2 is an odd choice for a knife you can't clean.

If you really need this knife to be what it is, it should stand up well when you need it. But if you don't need the push-button release, a conventional folder is much stronger.

Great OTF

Fits my hands perfectly. Love the smooth deployment/action and the blade length. Deceivingly sharp even though Im not a fan of the single bevel. Not sure why Benchmade chose this grind. I also bought an Ultratech. The Microtech has slightly less blade play than the Infidel. Both are acceptable. No complaints about the Infidel other than the cost. Its a keeper.

Love BM but...

Worked at a knife store for a good chunk of time, played with countless infidels and they all seemed to have the same three problems: Lots of blade play, d2 steel. and cost. Production knife in d2 and alumninum is not worth 400$.
Also I don't like the blade shape, just don't find it that useful...

Amazing

Absolutely astonishing knife. One question. I recently dropped it in some water on accident and every time I open it I see small droplets of water come it of the knife. Will this affect the knife in the long run?

Pure garbage

Awful material. Terrible design. I could take my sink apart and make a better knife out of it.

Looks, fires, feels great!

Solid strong firing really nice knife.
So all this sh*t about blade play I've read online is so negligible its not worthy of mentioning. It's a solid knife.
I also fired it into my leg to prove to gf how easily they kick out. Ahahahah yea wont be doing that again. It went in somewhere between. .25- .5 inch. Lol
Seems to fire pretty hard to me.
Razor sharp too! Its quality read more no doubt!
Another fine purchase from Bladehq (ordered sunday night. got it 4 days later Thursday at 3pm).
I gotta stop looking at bladehq to get to sleep... gotta stop ordering knives for a minute..

Love it

Better Than Anticipated

The Infidel has been a grail knife for me since its release a decade ago, and I wish I had caved on it sooner. This knife is so much better than I thought it would be, which is saying a lot. The edge was razor sharp out of the box, and I've had no malfunctions after a few thousand fires and a year in EDC rotation. You do have to maintain it though; OTFs are inherently fiddly and read more finicky. That said, I can't recommend this knife enough, even with the price considered.

Dangerous sheik!

Had for over 10 years now. Has held up great although not an edc for me due to legal constraints. Just had to have it and can because I live in the good old USA. Very sexy knife. I know as it makes the wives feel coquettish.

Fun with limited practicality.

I love this knife. The dual action is a hoot, and it's built solid. The dagger blade has limited practicality as an EDC, but I knew that going in. I would recommend the satin version though as the black coating gets scratched very easily. The cool factor just can't be beat though.

Great OTF knife

Great great knife all around

I have tried several different otf's in the last couple months I went through at least 3 or 4 before I found the one. And it is definitely the infidel a little costly but well worth it !!! There double edge d2 blade is sharp as a razor the action in and out is spectacular I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a great knife!! Thank u benchmade and blade hq.

Infidel

Ive owned an Infidel for almost a year. It is a never-fail piece of quick, sharp equipment. You get your money's worth with this knife. Recommend.

Respectable large blade OTF

Zach W.

The fit and finish of this blade is very good. It fires and retracts every time. The blades thin profile is probably only for defensive purposes. It feels less solid than other OTFs though.

An Excellent OTF!

No double about it, the Benchmade Infidel OTF auto is an expensive knife. But, as the old saying goes, "you get what you pay for."
I have been carrying an Infidel for over a year now and it has never, not even once, failed to properly extend or extract the blade.
As a rule I "test" it each day before carrying, sometimes several times (just for fun). I can honestly say that read more I have, in the past year, done this over 1000 times and, as stated, it has worked flawlessly each and every time.
Pricey? Yes! Worth it? Definitely!

Update (August 2016): Over two year of carry now and still no malfunctions. Still works perfectly every time.
