Grampus is now my edc.

I have been a benchmade knife person for over a decade. But now I carry the Grampus. Very solid knife with a comfortable, survivalist feel to it. The wagon train pioneers would have loved this knife. Flips opens like, as if, it has a spring on steroids. (No spring in this knife, but a great flipper). I always like the D2 metal and how it sharpens.

Three draw backs to this read more otherwise great knife! I dislike the Liner lock. I had one fail on me and cut my finger bad! Also I wish the pocket clip was solid and not cheap looking. And mostly I wish it was made in USA.

I also carry the larger crkt squid. Wonderful and solid, quick opener! It is less imposing or threatening. I clip it in the watch pocket in my Levi's. I use this Squid as a gentleman's knife!

Buy both!!!!! You will not be disapointed.

Bestech does budget blades right.

This is my 2nd Bestech knife, and while both that I own are on the lowest end of the Bestech pricing scale, they're both two of my favorite knives for build quality and fit/finish...
The D2 blade has a perfectly ground edge, and though the flipper lacks jimping, it is still easy to deploy (even with gloves on)...the textured scales provide a firm grim while also filling out the read more hand nicely without being too bulky feeling, the liner lock is easily accessed and has full lockup on the blade, the carry clip has plenty of pressure to hold it in place in your pocket and doesn't stick out too far from the scales so you don't feel it that much when you grip the knife...

This is a well built budget knife that fires cleanly, drops shut, has good liner lock engagement, good grip on the scales, and a sharp D2 blade...the complaints I have about it are minor, and they don't keep me from loving the knife at all, but there is room for improvement should Bestech decide to keep this model around...the liner lock, thumb rest of the scales/liners, and the flipper tab all don't have jimping on them which would improve the feel of the knife incredibly...it's a bit on the heavy side at just under 5oz, which could be helped by getting rid of the stainless steel spacer at the back that acts as a lanyard hole and possibly is meant to be a glass breaker and replacing it with a G10 spacer or stand offs...

All in all, this is a fantastic D2 steel, bearing pivot, textured G10 scale, all around workhorse of a knife that punches way above its $52 price point...

Best bang for buck option!

This knife has an amazing action(fall shutty!) and blade came razor sharp out of the box and has held its edge very well. I havent had to sharpen it yet, only stropped it before carrying it.

The G10 is very comfortable for a solid purchase and has a solid lockup.

My only small nitpick is the pocket clip, it looks cheap and gas stationy, but overall still functions read more very well.

Love it

Nice slicey drop point blade. Grippy G-10 handles. Lightning fast flipper opening. Solid lockup.Perfect centering. I really dig the striker/lanyard hole. Beautiful knife. Get this before they're gone.

One of the best china made knives

I love my bestech grampus! i'm most impressed by the action. it's smooth and really pops open with the slightest flick. The scales are very grippy, while I wouldn't call this OD green, i really like the color. Kind of a darker beige or light brown/khaki.

A little weighty, but excellent

I generally carry much smaller knives than this, but I have had great experiences with my other Bestech knife and wanted to see what their budget offerings were like.

PROS:
~Action/Fall-shuttitude that's as well done as much more expensive knives. As smooth, if not more so, than the Ruike P108 for those of you who are familiar with that knife.
~There's chamfering read more on the liners that's preventing sharp edges.
~In spite of its shape, I don't find myself stabbing my hand on point of the lanyard hole.
~I don't use knives for much more than food prep and light tasks around the house, but I've found no hot spots when I use it.
~Came hair shaving sharp out of the box.

CONS
~If you're someone who enjoys fidgeting with knifes, your thumb may get a little sore from working the liner lock if you do it repeatedly and in quick succession.
~ This knife is not light. I personally didn't find it heavy enough to make carrying it unpleasant, but if you want a knife that disappears into your pocket this isn't it.
