About Boker Kwaiken

Boker, using a design by Lucas Burnley from New Mexico, have cReated the Kwaiken folder. Burnley, whose most popular knife is a fixed blade Kwaiken wanted to transfer the thin and narrow concept into a folding knife, without changing the proportions too much. The result is a design that is beautiful from first glance. The clean lines and sleek design are absolutely unique. Despite the slim gripthere is no compromise with the Ergonomics.

An Elegant Knife

Addison d.

An elegant knife, with a feeling of quality despite the understated materials. The blade was very sharp right out of the box.

I do wish that it had some spring-assist for the opening, but this is my first flipper and maybe I'm just not accustomed to it yet. The only other issues I see are that the pocket clip is very stiff which makes it hard to use at times (both in and read more out), and that the knife is a little on the heavy side.

EDIT: After owning this knife for almost two years and using it as my daily carry, I've had to replace it twice. The first one didn't close with the point below the handle. The second one started to do the same thing, leaving just enough of the tip exposed to slice my hand. Cleaning it helped, but now the action feels gritty. I'm about to send it in to be replaced again. I'm not sure if it just doesn't like the high-particulate environment (I work in a metals shop) or if there is something else going on. At least the warranty is good...

Smooth operator

Locks up tight on open and close. The ball bearings make the action extremely smooth and almost quiet except for the clicks as the liner lock engages. Not sure if a boker plus is worth this price though.

Great looking knife, but crappy edge

I love the look and feel, and weight of this knife. The flipper is super smooth and jimping on the flipper is great. Fits great in a pocket and looks great.
My great disappointment with this knife has been the edge, or lack their of. It came dull as a butter knife...I have tried with mild success to sharpen with the same sharpening kit I used for other knives I got hair whittling read more sharp, but this won't take a sharp edge to save my life. Maybe its just me, maybe its the VG-10 steel? My Mannix 2XL could cut this knife in half.

Amazing knife

My second Boker Kwaiken, and third Boker overall. Can't say enough about the quality, smoothness, and overall design of this blade. Perfectly discrete, but ready for business at the flip of a switch.

Discrete But Ready For Business

This knife is very elegant. It looks very sleek, clean and non threatening... until you open it up. Great knife for utilitarian and tactical applications. Opens up buttery smooth. Locks up solid... no blade play. Centering is perfect. VG-10 is razor sharp and stays sharp. Overall fit and finish is excellent. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Butter knife sharp and off center

Have owned a few variations of the Kwaiken and all were excellent up until this one. The blade was no sharper than your average butter knife and the blade was off center in the closed position, which on this model means nearly touching the liner. Otherwise fine, flipped great but a little disappointing, as Boker seemed to be improving on their overall fit and finish.
