Great concept, poor execution
The Mini Spitfire has the potential to be a great little knife, but it falls pretty far short of that mark (or at least the one I received does). There's not one single big issue, but just a lot of little ones. For example: The blade locking mechanism doesn't work smoothly and seems like it might not be finished properly inside the knife where that mechanism engages the blade. When… read more I press on the lock to fold up the blade, there's initial resistance and then an audible 'click' as the lock tab is pushed past that resisting spot. Not a huge issue, but just an annoyance because I've come to expect better QC from Buck. The frame cutouts adjacent to the lock bar aren't finished very well and are pretty sharp (I needed to scrape a couple of small burrs off with a nail file). Also, the pocket clip is so rigid and tight-fitting to the frame that it's a struggle to get the knife fully seated in your pocket; and once it's there, it's an even bigger struggle to get it out. I'll probably take that clip off and just use the knife as a pocket-dropper. All in all, it's functional for its intended purpose but still a bit of a let-down from the quality I was expecting.
Really nice
This really is a nice little knife. The handle and blade are small and thin, which was the main reason i got it. Very light weight. Blade is sharp out the box, Its a lockback so the blade has no wiggle at all. Its a lockback so it can not flip open at all. Its a lockback so it takes two hands to close. Very nice USA made knife for under $30.
It works but it’s not great
The knife arrived quicker then expected and that’s awesome. But that’s kinda where the awesome stops. The action on opening the blade is rough and hard to do one handed. Closing the knife one handed is pretty much impossible and dangerous as the blade is hard to close even with two hands. I personally love the look of the knife, and the blade is pretty sharp but over all I am… read more underwhelmed with the mini spitfire. Might be my knife specifically which is understandable but still disappointed.
Best gift ever
I bought this knife as a backup Christmas gift Incase I forgot someone. Not to my surprise, I had forgotten about my little sisters hipster boyfriend. Soo I tossed it in some wrapping paper and handed it over to him. 30 seconds after the 10 minute battle he fought to get it out of the plastic, he nearly cut his hipster finger off checking if it was sharp. Haha yep! It’s sharp.
Great Knife
Fast shipping and great Knife. I love the engraving they did as well!
Small Knife:
ONE SMALL POCKET KNIFE THAT WORKS AWSOME REAL WELL DESIGN AND ONE PLUS FOR THIS KNIFE IS REAL LIGHT. LOVE IT!!!!!!!
Excellent gift
Bought as a commemorative gift for our season of work. The inscription looks great.
Great Little Knife
Great little knife to keep around. This is not my EDC knife, I'm far too much of a knife snob for that, but this is a great little knife to keep handy around the house. I keep one in my desk drawer, one in my tool box, one in my truck, Great for opening up plastic packaging and doing dirty jobs where you don't want to dull your primary EDC knife or get it messed up doing something…
