I'm Disappointed

The Buck brand is one of my personal favorites. I have always found their knives to be of very good quality at very good prices. The negatives to this knife are 1. difficult to open and 2. the aluminum scales have some sharp edges making it uncomfortable to hold in certain positions. The blade is very stiff in the pivot. I tried to wear the knife in by opening and closing it several read more hundred times a night while watching T.V. for a couple weeks, didn't help in the least. I then tried cleaning the pivot and that didn't help at all. My Spitfire requires 2 hands to open and 2 hands to close. On the positive side, the blade was razor sharp out of the box and centered perfectly. The orange aluminum scales make it a very handsome knife. Screws for the pocket clip are on the outside of the clip instead of underneath/inside the clip which can often end up tearing your pocket if your your'e not careful. Overall, I do like this knife, the sharp edges can be sandpapered down a bit and if needing 2 hands to open/close it isn't an issue then consider it a good knife at a good price.

Spitfire 722’s

Handle and hardware on seven different knives with various color anodizing were perfect, and very consistent quality. Back locks were solid and only slightly stiff to disengage with three knives having small vertical play if blade was forced with a couple pounds of pressure. All blades had what I would consider a fairly rough factory grind but evenly centered, good initial sharpness. read more One blade had heavy burrs and what looked to be slight discoloring at bevel. A small amount work on medium diamond stone and fine ceramic rod 420HC took a very nice sticky edge. Initial quality of the blades as a group kept me from rating higher, still would recommend a buy at current price.

Nice tool

Good quality and nice finish, grippy handle, no blade play (as on the 110).
will use it for skinning / medium game.
Blade does not close easily after unlock.

The color of the aluminum handle in the picture doesn't do this knife justice. In the picture it just looks bright orange, but the color truly is a nice metallic orange. Anyways, the knife is easy to open with one hand, and it locks up nicely. You can't go wrong with this one. It's definitely quality at a nice price point. Oh yeah--and it's USA made
