About Byrd Tern Slip Joint Knife Black G-10 (2.75" Satin) BY23GP

The Byrd Tern slipit knife looks like the traditional UK penknife MODels that Spyderco makes, but the blade is a little slimmer. The blade is 8Cr13MoV steel while the handle is black G-10.

Great Value in a Modern Slipjoint

John V.

I received a Tern as a gift. As a result, I am going to spend more money later on a Spyderco slipjoint!

This knife inspires a lot of confidence in carrying a modern slipjoint. The action is satisfyingly crisp, with a well defined half-stop and a very strong open position. The jimping is well done, and the clip is fantastic. Easy on, easy off, and it's very low profile!

The read more factory grind was uneven and fairly oblique, but it's impossible to deduct a star for that when 8cr13MoV sharpens as easily as it does. The thin, slicy blade profile was very easy to use with a Lansky system. In minutes, I had a great sharp working edge!

Highly recommended.

Dead on.

Pretty much exactly as expected although a bit smaller than I'm used to.

Pros: Clip is great, knife is sharp, slip joint action is snappy and has a half stop, price is good.

Cons: The byrd hole is sharp pretty common problem for spyderco. Steel is 8Cr13 but that's reasonable at the price.

Awesome knife for price

As with my meadowlark 2 i purchased before my delica to see if i liked how the knife felt i recieved this for chtostmas as i plan on purchasing the spyderco urban very soon the overall fit and finish is very nice and i am impressed also the lock up is very solid easy to sharpen i do not plan on beating this knife so the 8cr is perfectly fine also i love the pocket clip im left handed read more so fully ambidextrous knives are a must for me

Perfect EDC for the price!

If there was an identical lockback version that would be my first pick. The 8cr dulls fairly easily but the edge comes back in so readily and so hair popping that do not mind. I especially like the weight and the clip.
It some how escaped my notice that this is significantly larger than the Dragonfly, what a pleasant surprise!
