BIG FAT KNIFE

Wow this knife is awesome. Big thick blade on this thing. Feels really great in hand. Super grippy G-10. I have big hands and this knife fits very well. If you want a nice beefy knife this is the one. Way to go COLD STEEL I love this knife. 👍

Outstanding knife for the price. One of the beefiest knives I own.

It is fine but with imperfections

Marco C.

The good: tough and big
The bad: it is not very sharp, the edge is misaligned where it starts, the safety part also has irregular edges, some are straight and others are rounded, the clip is useless, because it is too rigid and the texture under the clip does not help either .
This is fine, but for the price you would expect a better quality control in terms of finishes

A little disappointed

The blade itself is remarkably durable, the tri-ad is fantastic, and regardless of how much I throw at it the knife performs. I think the good out ways the bad, but I have had issues. The fit of the knife is bad - the lock bar is slanted and rubs up against the liners, the knife is not centered, and you can see parts that they ground down post production because of design errors. read more The thumb stub broke off during some moderate batoning(I know this is my fault, that was misuse), I have been trying to contact cold steel for over a year to purchase a replacement thumb stub or for other issues and I have never received a response. Overall I think at this price the knife feels cheap, if you need a folder in this class I would recommend the SOG seal XR (which I have had no issues with) or I would recommend a fixed blade.

A Massive Tank of a Knife!

I love my SR1... this is a beast. While it is pocketable, it's a heavy chunk of steel. Definitely a work-horse that will be at home for any job that requires lots of strength and leverage. The quality and workmanship is top notch. It may not be traditionally beautiful, but if you admire industrial designs that are perfectly suited to the tasks they are intended to perform, you will read more appreciate this!

Excellent Hard Use Large Folder

I have many knives, most of which see a lot of use. I was in the market for a hard use folder and stumbled across the SR 1 and I am glad that I did. The fit and finish of this knife was excellent and it arrived extremely sharp. The thick blade is very durable and the G-10 handle provides excellent traction. Understand that this is a BIG knife. Cold Steel makes cheaper knives as read more do many other reputable manufacturers, however this knife is worth the extra money. This is a hard use heirloom quality knife and you will not be sorry that you purchased it. Congratulations Cold Steel on a job well done.

Truly Awesome Blade

Love this thing more than any other folder I have. The only improvement I'd suggest is a "thumb plate" so you could wave it out of the pocket. Even without that you can get it open quickly. Highly recommend.

This is my most expensive knife, and now my new favorite. It is as thick as my Chaos tanto, but it folds. It has the toughest lock in the industry so its as good as a fixed blade when extended.
I didn't think the handle would be very comfortable, it looks very utilitarian, but it is very comfortable to hold, and allows holding the handle in many positions with absolute confidence.
I read more bought this model because Lynn Thompson said this is what he would pick if dropped off in the wilderness with only one folding knife to choose, and now I see why.
I got 3 stitches on the first day of owning this knife, and I consider myself lucky even though it was totally my fault. The tanto tip went through my flesh like it was butter it could've been way worse.
This knife is over-built, it is awesome, and needs to be respected.
I made a most excellent purchase.

If you want a heavy use knife that can still slice cardboard and with an unbeatable lock then this one is for you. For the price point it’s hard to beat.

Be cautious

I was really looking forward to getting my hands on this knife. when it arrived it was very disappointing. The lockbar was miss ground in several spots and it didn't sit flush. One side of the knife is longer than the other causing the partial linear to stick out the top on one side. For the price Cold Steel is asking for this blade the fit and finish was TERRIBLE be careful buying read more this knife cause you may get one like i did.

I bought this knife looking for a heavier, rugged durable tool to use at work. Given Cold Steel's reputation, it does not disappoint. You get a massive chunk of high quality steel in this knife which was shaving sharp out of the box.

This knife can really accomplish anything you want it to, although I'd say it's more comfortable with bigger or harder tasks. Because of its read more weight though only find myself carrying it at work or outside camping. It's not comfortable enough to edc with casual clothes on. Because of its size it also comes across as a fairly aggressive knife. Whether that's good or bad in your opinion, it definitely gets looks.

Overall I am very happy with this purchase, thanks Blade HQ and Cold Steel

Very impressive!

This is a beast, if your familiar with Andrew Demkos custom knives you know this SR1 has his name all over it. If you wanted a 4max but couldn't swing the cash this thing is just as beefy at a third of the price.

One bad Onbre

Built like a s*** brick house. Its like a recon 1 on roids but better looking. And it has a nice thick clip point on it so I think it will be pretty strong and pierce good. And it still carries good. Just a couple ounces more than the recon. After that G-10 wears out a little i should be able pull it out a little easier. And you can also pop it open without the thumbstuds if you read more like. It opens easy either way.I cant wait to see some test done it. And that s35 from what I've read chips less than the 30.

Love me some CS SR 1!

This could be my new favorite. Razor sharp out of the box. A hair short of 5mm thick. Basically a folding prybar with damn near corrosion resistant steel. Only time will tell if this knife is durable though Cold Steel has a good reputation for knives that can take abuse.
