Ratings and Reviews
Right out the box first impression review
This is my first CRKT knife, and I gotta say I never considered buying a CRKT cause I thought they'd be low quality but I was wrong.
The reason the Buku got my interest is the Kukri style blade, I am a sucker for Kukri blades but I only pulled the trigger on a massive TOPS knife Kukri but this looked so nice for the price I had to at least try it.
First thing I thought…

is the weight is very noticeable which I quickly thought "how" but upon deploying the blade and giving it a real look it makes sense, it's pretty beefy in a good way. The blade thickness is quite desireable and the frame feels pretty heavy duty as well.
Opening and closing it/ The action:
I am so happy at how smooth it is, super smooth opening and closing one handed folder, it really does make me feel like I got a lot of knife and quality of knife for the $30 I paid. For 30 bucks this one is near impossible to beat for me. I cannot stress enough how smooth it is, I read it was smooth but it exceeded expectations.
Comsetic Look:
Obviously this one depends on the person's personal tastes, but as I said I am a sucker for the Kukri style and the finish is really nice and makes it feel again like more bang for the buck.
Out the Box cut tests:
It was sharper than expected and passed all my tests with ease. It'll get the job done and won't hold you back. You have a lot of area with the blade the work with, and plenty of knife frame to get a good grip as you make cuts. It's beefy and will have plenty of applications.
Overall it's 5 stars for me, I feel stupid for doubting CRKT for years, for this to be my first CRKT knife I am extremely impressed and feel like I got an amazing knife for an amazing price it makes me feel like I got a great deal.
Here's to hoping it holds up when it gets pocket time, I'm sure down the line I'll be on blade hq and check on it to update if need be if I remember but with the bulk and quality I feel like I have here I am comfortable saying I think it'll be a great option whether it be as an EDC or occasional carry.
Lucas Burnley, DUDE YOU KILLED IT here. *fist bump* great design dude.
Definitely a Beefy Blade!
Getting it on a $29 sale it is an awesome deal! Sleek design with no hot spots and a beefy blade. I would give it 5 stars if it was a flipper, but that's my opinion...I like flippers more than thumb deployment. If you like thumb hole blades, I would consider this 5 stars as it is very easy to deploy due to the smooth action and the large cut out. All-in-all, it's a beautiful design… read more that feels solid in the hand.
Very well done knife .
Everything is amazing about this knife, I like the blade and handle heavy but feels firm in your hand. Nice price ,very fast delivery and good quality .
I definitely recommend this website and this product.
A lot of great for the price
If you like a larger EDC at an affordable price, this is the knife. It’s heavy in hand, which I actually don’t mind at all as it inspires a bit of confidence in use. However, the relatively slim profile, deeper carry clip, and overall curvature, makes this knife ride so much smaller in the pocket, and it feels great in hand with zero hot spots. A big highlight regarding the…

ergonomics is how well they chamfered the knife spine. It has a similar feel to a crowned spine which is found on much more expensive knives. I, personally, have developed a little “flipper fatigue” regarding current knife trends, so I really appreciate the thumb hole opening on this knife; it reverse flicks and thumb flicks nicely and that also helps it ride nicely in the pocket. The blade is relatively thin for a knife of this size and came pretty sharp out of the package. The overall fit and finish is pretty good for CRKT standards. It came centered with good lockup, too.
There are a few issues. The scales are slick but the ergonomics make up for it. I acid etched and stonewashed mine to provide a bit of texture. One of the frame screws on my example came rounded out so I was unable to take it apart completely. I had to treat it like an integral frame to service and reassemble it. Is it the end of the world? No, not for a $45 knife. The corner of the lock-side scale where it meets the lock interface is really sharp but can easily be remedied with some quick sanding. Again, not a deal breaker at all. My biggest complaint (and most common regarding a lot of CRKT knives) is the 8Cr13MoV blade steel that CRKT uses way too much. They must own the world’s supply of this steel. It’s a fine steel for an average EDC knife that the majority of people will be using to open packages and envelopes, and maybe use for some food prep. But 8Cr13MoV is particularly ugly on this knife for a couple reasons. First, this knife is seemingly designed for heavy duty use as far as folders go. It’s big and heavy and can handle work. But 8Cr13MoV won’t get you through a bigger job before it dulls, which leads to the second reason this steel is ugly on this blade. It has a slight recurve, so if you don’t own an angle or rod sharpening system, this knife will not be easy to touch up on a simple flat stone. And even with an angle sharpener, you’ll need the aftermarket, three grit rod to sharpen the recurve section. A knife design like this would benefit with a slightly better steel like D2 at an $80 price point.
All that said, if you’re a knife nerd like me, you won’t use this knife for heavy duty tasks . I have several knives with premium steels that are much better suited for big tasks. And, if you’re a knife nerd like me, you’ll carry this as an EDC because it looks cool, and it’s relatively inexpensive. I actually love this knife. It’s not perfect but there is a lot of great to be had here for the price.
Fun
Fun knife. It is hefty!
Heavyweight
This thing could be used as a small hatchet. It chops amazingly for a folder. Handle could be a little more ergonomical but it’s not bad. Nice deep carry clip. Only complaint is the edge. Can’t seem to find the right angle to sharpen it at plus the recurve is a bear to sharpen. Need to practice more I guess. It’s a heavy knife. If all else fails. You don’t even have to open… read more it. Just throw it at someone and it’ll get the job done.
This thing is a hoss
huge knife, on the heavy side but still reasonable to edc if wearing jeans. the big blade comes in handy for most tasks and it holds a decent edge for the price of the blade. fun to blade with just beware of the loose pivot, I tightened mine a bit for safety sake.
Heavy beast
This is a cool knife. I like the shape of the blade and its definitely sharp out of the box. Its heavy but well balanced. It has some rough spots where the liner lock is but is not an issue when handing the knife. The hole on the blade helps you flip it but be prepared to use your man hands.. Tnis thing feels like you can go to war with it.
One Big Flipper
The Buku is a massive knife firstly and built like a tank, and certainly feels like one with the steel handle. The Buku is a little heavy and large for EDC but I've found it to be a nice carry option when you want a fun flipper that is sure to bring attention to itself. The ball bearing pivots feel phenomenal and allows the blade to nearly drop into the frame. This knife is certainly… read more not for small jobs, but not all jobs are small. I would highly recommend this knife for the money.
Good knife
It's big and heavy which are fine with me but it's a little more slick to the touch than I think I like now looking back. But for the price you can't go wrong. It's the first knife that started me down the path of addiction so for that reason alone it's got a special place in my heart. I would definitely buy it again.
