Even woks for a lefty

I’m left handed and it is difficult to find a slim knife that I can one hand the liner lock. This is one that I’m able to close almost every time with just my left hand. I also find this knife to be very fidget friendly. I’m constantly sitting at my desk flipping it open for no reason.

Nice blade, but handle too slim

Tyler H.

the blade is nice, sharp enough, good for light tasks. But the handle is too slim making hand positioning difficult to find to quickly deploy the blade. I find my fingers often obscure the opening as I try to deploy the blade and I can’t seem to find a fast/easy way to deploy it. . The thumb-stud is also uncomfortable. I really do like the blade profile but I can’t see using read more this knife due to its awkward shape and stiff, uncomfortable operation.

Perfect Gentleman’s knife

Gotta love ❤️ CRKT for coming up with this line. The CEO is the perfect thin small blade to carry if one is wearing a sports jacket or suit it has a very elegant presence it doesn’t come off over bearing. Yet the CEO is much stronger than your average letter opener. Waiting for the release of the Blackout Edition 🤞🏼

Great little knife!

This is a real gentleman's knife. It is the perfect knife to take with you when wearing more formal clothing. If you want to have a knife on you, but you don't want a big folder, then this knife won't look out of place when dress up. Very good option, and not very expensive at all for what you get.

Outstanding!

Was it a little hard to flip straight out of the box? Yes, but after a couple of drops of mineral oil and flipping it repeatedly for a little while it is not an issue any more. So other than the flipper there are a few interesting differences. First the handle is 1/8" shorter than the thumb stud version while the blade is 1/8" longer. Also the original had a overtravel stop pin read more in the liners while the flipper has the pin in the blade itself with cutouts in the liners to prevent overtravel when open or closed.

Very much looking forward to variants of the flipper. And if anyone is listening this knife is screaming for 20cv blade steel.

My first CRKT

I love the design and the cost of this knife. It isn't extremely difficult to open, but I can see how some people can't open it. I have given the knife to several people to use and they can't open it. For me it's a great knife that I don't have problems with. But I gave it 4 stars because of the difficulty I see people having, it makes me hand other knives to people. One good other read more note is that it fits in my uniform pen pocket for very convenient carry!

Stiff

Hayden T.

Very good knife but my problem with the flipper is that it is near impossible to use because the flipper is so stiff and the texture of the flipper digs into my fingers

Sharp A** flipper

Alex T.

I love this knife personally and would recommend to anyone looking for a sleek gentleman's knife... however i can't in good conscience recomend it to anyone who doesn't have thick calluses on there fingers. The flip action is both incredibly smooth and incredibly stiff, and because of this and the sharp a** jimping on the flipper tab, when I handed it over to my buddy he cut two read more of his fingers open just trying to deploy the blade. I really do like this knife but the flipper tab really needs to be sanded or filed down a lot, and/or the action needs to be way less stiff out of the box.

Poor Quality Blade

Perhaps I don’t know enough about the differences in blade steel, but I felt the blade on this knife was incredibly dull out of the box and very difficult to sharpen. It’s a shame because I do like the overall design.

Exactly what I was looking for

MARCUS H.

I was looking for a knife to complement a custom handgun build I'm working on. I wanted something sleek and simple in 2 tone. This knife hits the nail on the head. It's just sexy. For those who think the flipper is too hard and it causes pain or breaks nails you should look at getting a hanky to wipe you tears and leave the knives to real men and women. Yes it's stiff but it's not read more enough that it hurts.Hate when people give bad reviews because of their limitations.

Lube/Disassembly REQUIRED

I absolutely love how it looks. I never got my hands on the thumb stud version, but this knife is pretty good. However, the biggest complaint for me is that the knife is incredibly stiff without any modifications. Stiff to the point where it would leave a dent in my finger for trying so hard to open it. The work around that I found works incredibly well was opening up the knife read more and slightly bending the liner lock the opposite direction. This made it so I can comfortably open the knife without any problems at all, and now I can fully enjoy this beautiful knife.

Excellent Knife for the $

I have this and the S35VN version and the only thing they have in common is their geometry and measurement. Otherwise, this is tip up and the 35VN is tip down. This is flip and the 35VN is thumb stud. GRN versus Micarta. However, I like them both very much. Deployment on both are smooth. They both lock-up like a safe. $ for $ it's a tie to me. However, I really prefer tip up and read more so the tiebreaker goes to AUS-8 version. Nice work CRKT! BTW, detent was oppressive at first, but with some use and some pivot lube, it has loosened up. Being it's tip up though, I like the resistance----I don't think this will ever falsely deploy in my pocket.

Great job CRKT

I really like this knife. From a fidget perspective, it's very enjoyable. Also, it's been my go-to mail/package opening knife since I got it.

The narrow blade is simply great at getting in between spaces to open packages.

The detent on mine is amazing. I had to tune the pivot a little to get it to the sweet spot, and now it never fails to fully deploy. Also, the detent read more catches a little on the liner lock when I go to close it. The great part about that is, when I give it a little pressure at that point, it snaps closed the rest of the way.

For FRN, the scales are great, they feel more premium than some of the G10 scales I have.

For the price, I'm extremely please.

I'd love to see a version with higher end materials. If CRKT comes out with one, I'll snatch it up in a heartbeat.

It's a harsh review but I think reasonable...

I have the first CEO and opening with the thumb stud isn't great gets better over time. I was hoping the flipper was the solution and but, like other reviewers, I found the flipper practically impossible to use. It took two hands to open it.

Great looking blade and handle but if I can't open it, it's a deal breaker. I returned it and am hesitant to get it again. I might stick read more with the first CEO or check out the Civivi Exarch.

Love it

This improves a lot of the issues with the first CEO. It will not give as nice of a snap open the original had. But, The clip is amazingly strong and tight! The original clip is pretty weak and easy to bend. It feels amazing to hold with the clip in the back now. At first it can be hard to open. After spending an evening flicking it open and closing it works super well. I think read more the detent is a little strong but can easily be sanded down. The finish on the handle looks very nice and not as tacky as the first. It will also hide scratches better than the original.

Just ok

I like the CEO however I recommend the Blade HQ white micarta over this one. The flipper is really tough even after EDC for a week of fidgeting.

It's a good knife

Just got mine today and it's everything I thought it would be. Slim, light, sharp and no problem opening or closing. It's a good looking knife with a scalpel like blade. Comfortable to carry or conceal due to it's sleek design. No complaints with this product.

Detent is to stiff

I love the design of this knife and wanted it to work, but I could not open this knife. I tried and tried for a couple of days and could not open it. I hated to, but I sent it back.

For all worried about the flipper

James G.

Yes, the flipper action is tight but it will loosen up, this model excels over the thumb stud version (which I love as well) especially for guys with Christmas hams! Another thing I’ve noticed is the flipper action is much easier in the beginning if you choke down on the handle. Plus, it has tip up carry which is my preferred carry style.

Detent is incredibly stiff

Kevin M.

As others were saying, the flipper detent on this knife is so stiff that you're likely to break your fingernail trying to open it. I have a regular CEO with a thumbstud and the action was so much smoother than this one. It seems well-built so I'll disassemble it and try to file down the detent ball or bend the lockbar to where it's not bearing down on the blade as much, but it's read more a shame that it's not as nice out of the box as the original model.

Other than that, it looks great and I do like the improved pocket clip and handle texture.

I want to LOVE it...but I just like it

Kennard Y.

I stand by my review below but a couple of months later, I have found more adoration for this blade...

I have a friend that has the CEO with the thumb tab and it has a perfect detent and a buttery smooth action. The only problem for me was that the recessed thumb stud didn’t protrude enough for me and at times my thumb would skim over the top of it resulting in a misfire.

Enter read more the CEO 2 with the flipper tab! WHOO! I had it on pre-order for what seemed like an eternity. I was so excited when it arrived! I opened the box and admired my new acquisition. I placed my thumb on the tab and press...I pressed harder...and harder....snap. “Hm, maybe it needs to break in a bit.” I pressed the liner lock and there was a gritty, sticking that made it difficult to unlock.

Pause: I love CRKT. They are the MOST inventive and creative knife company on the planet. They are not afraid to take risks and they dream up some ingenious mechanical creations...like the Fulcrum 2 that I ordered weeks ago but seems to be lost in the mail. I applaud them! But...why can’t they make products that function as smoothly and have the build quality of CIVIVI. They both live in a similar price range but CIVIVI seems to be able to produce the best quality in the price range. CIVIVI quality is on par with knives three times the price while CRKT has inconsistency and lack of QC.

Back to the CEO 2. After disassembling the knife and using Flitz to polish the areas where the lock and blade meet then cleaning and oiling the bearings, the knife feels like it should...still a bit stiff but much smoother. It now unlocks without the grinding metal-on-metal grit. A buyer should not have to do that! My CIVIVI’s have never needed anything like that.

I like the CEO 2 quite a bit and I’m going to keep flipping it through TV shows and movies, to my wife’s chagrin, to keep working the action. I hope my like turns into love...not for my wife, I LOVE my wife...for the CEO 2.

All good except for the flipper

The tension on the flipper is insane. It is very hard to open one-handed and can be painful if done a lot. Pretty disappointed about that but otherwise a good knife.

CEO Is Amazing

*edit*

After using this knife and getting used to the pressure needed to open it. I have to say, it is the most fun knife I own to deploy.

I constantly find myself going between it and other staple knives every morning.

Although the blade is long and impractical, I love it. The lack of gimping is a small issue, but I'm a big fan of the Katana inspired blade... read more The knife looks like a ninja's letter opener, and a solid deploy makes you feel like a ninja. Great knife if you're willing to train your muscles to use it.

Impossible to open

Ben N.

I'm incredibly disappointed in this knife. As another reviewer mentioned, the flipper mechanism is so tight, it is nearly impossible to open. It is very painful on my finger tip to apply the amount of pressure necessary to open the blade. While the knife looks and feels good, it is essentially a paper weight. I even tried opening and closing the blade repeatedly while watching TV read more and applying a small amount of lube to the mechanism to loosen things up. Not sure what CRKT is thinking selling a nearly unusable product.

CRKT CEO Flipper not great

Branan C.

I got the CEO flipper on 01/19/21. I have 2 CEO none flippers. I'm not impressed with this at all. It's very stiff. Trying to flip it open with my none dominate hand is almost impossible. Hopefully it will break in. I love the look and feel of this knife. Maybe I just got a bad one.

One fault

Mike S.

I have several CRKT knives and always find them to be of great quality and well-designed. I love the look and feel of this knife, but the flipper mechanism is very tight...to a fault. AS they build stuff so solid, it's not likely to loosen up, so I'll take this one as a nice to have, but not nearly a favorite

An Improved CEO

I just received my new CEO flipper. I love it already. I never liked that it was only right hand opening. With the new reversible pocket clip and flipper tab it work in both hands. I hope they have some custom ones too. I have 5 custom one already plus the new flipper. Good work CRKT!
