I Love It! Nicely Done!
This is a BIG Knife! But the Action is Smooth as Butter, and Came Razor Sharp Out of the Box! Perfectly Centered Blade too! Feels Great in My Hand. I did not experience any "Hot Spots". I Flipped it open and closed it at least 30 times! Love it!
I might just have to get a Crossbones so it will have a Son! It's AUS8 Steel,
Which I Happen to Like!
Jumbones
Just got the knife and have used it a bunch of times already I live in santa maria california and we bbq all the time here and my new knife cut thru the tri tip I cooked like butter !! Exellent knife.
Love It!
I wish more makers would make knives like this. Long blade, easy to open, good looks, great price. Every aspect is great. The blade has a high satin finish, looks great, & is sharp. The handle has a slight concave shape to it on the top & bottoms, but the sides are straight. The checkered areas of the handle are sudden down from the polished flats, x's that stand out. The blade… read more has an initiate amount of resistance that keeps it closed, then once you apply enough pressure to the flipper the blade flies open fast & smooth. Liner locks aren't my favorite but it works good. The blade locks up tight & sturdy, no play in the blade whatsoever. You won't be disappointed. This is a grand slam by CRKT.
Very Smooth 2
I have to mirror everything Frank B says about the Jumbones with the addition of one negative. A blade this size is incredibly fun to flip, but after repeated flips and fidgets, the texture of the handle and the "x inlay" creates hot spots on the thumb and fingers. So, if you are not going to flip it 20 or 30 times in one sitting NO PROBLEM! Otherwise, it is somewhat bothersome.… read more None the less, another great 2019 release from CRKT.
Very Smooth
When the smaller Crossbones was introduced, I liked the style, but was hoping for a larger version. But that is a tricky balance to achieve. The bulk and weight increases rapidly as the proportions grow. The 3.54 inch Crossbones comes in at 2.4 oz., and the 4.84 inch Jumbones weighs 5.7 oz.
For me, the Jumbones has neatly accomplished this feat. The knife is large, but it…

is not excessively heavy. And it properly clips into my back pants pocket even though I am not a big person. The flipping mechanism is very smooth right out of the box, particularly for a knife of these dimensions, undoubtedly achieved through the use of the IKBS ball bearing pivot.
The blade locks up tightly without any wiggle, and is properly-centered. I find the lock-up to be a bit late, as the lock bar extends slightly past its back edge onto the blade tang--not a major problem as long as the engagement stays that way for a reasonable time period.
The factory edge is satisfactory for a knife at this price point. It can, with some effort, shave arm hair. This isn't a serious concern, as the AUS8 steel is easily sharpened to a very fine edge.
The handle and blade finish are well-executed, and the handle texture allows for a secure grip. The jimping under the thumb is helpful, but it would be better if it were more aggressive. A similar style of jimping works fine on the flipper tab, allowing more-than-adequate purchase to open the blade. Common with knives of this blade size, it is possible to shake it open with a downward flip, so be careful in localities that prohibit gravity knives or knives with blades of this length.
It is definitely an attention-getter, no matter how you open it. I am pleased with the purchase.
