Beautiful Little EDC Folder!

Paul H.

This is for the black on black D2 Carbon Fiber handle scale version.

I got this for EDC pocket carry after searching around for a while comparing similar size and quality folders, because the state I live in currently has a maximum concealed folding knife blade length of 3". My only gripes with this knife are as follows.

The frame lock release lip is tiny, and it's read more nearly impossible to unlock to close without using a fingernail.

Secondly the black coating isn't awesome, not sure what it is. I've already seen a little bit of wear doing a little testing on wood.

The action when I first got the knife was super tight and hard to open (my thumb was screaming). As I've deployed the blade and worked it out over literally hundreds of times over the last week it's gotten loose enough to deploy smoothly, but now the blade centering is off by a considerable amount. I'm, not sure why exactly, but the pocket clip is point down, which is on the pivot, so I might try switching that and re-centering the blade to see if that helps.

Other than that, great materials, super solid frame lock, slick action with bronze bushings, D2 steel blade came razor sharp even after hours of whittling various woods and daily EDC tasks. The carbon fiber handle scale on the one side is slick, but the ergonomics of the knife are very good so for your typical EDC tasks it probably won't matter.

This knife is great for the price

The carbon fiber on this knife looks great even though its laminate of g10. The stone wash is really good and the d2 came really sharp out of the box. Really nice urgos. If your looking at this knife check out the Ontario rat 2 or if you want a step bigger the Rat1 or avispa. Overall a really clean knife with great action. Pick one up now!

However i did experience some issues read more with the action and lock up when i flicked it open multiple times in a row. But when you close it and wait a little the action returns to normal.

A Mixed Bag

This is a hard knife to review. It's relatively lightweight and the ergonomics are great. The blade comes razor sharp out of the box and D2 is a better steel than you'll usually get in this price range.

The problem is that on my Zancudo, the blade wasn't perfectly centered and the pivot was so stiff that it's almost impossible for me to open the blade one handed. Perhaps read more it'll loosen up over time.
