This Gerber Doubledown has a blacked out finish on the blade, hardware, and handles which combined, give this blade a menacing appearance.Utilizing Gerber's QuadLock system for maximum strength, the Doubledown is a collapsible survival knife that is designed to be taken with you even to the most dangerous of places. This folding machete is perfect for heavy duty cutting and chopping taSKS. It folds in to itself and latches to prevent accidental deployment. To operate the QuadLock system and open this blade, use the four long release buttons, two on each of the front and back of the handles, pinch together and pull the handles apart.Features:Collapsible drop point blade that folds in to the 2-piece, hard plastic handle.Stonewash blade steel made of 420HC that it durable and lasts through repetitive chopping, slicing, cutting and splitting.Nylon sheath included for easy carrying and storing.

It's ok
I purchased this because I like collecting folders with odd locking mechanisms. On that count it is an ok knife. Folded it's close to 8 inches long. Open it is over 15. For a 6.5" blade that is fairly thin. A 6 or 7" camp knife will be a bit heavier and way better at any task you might need it for.

it absolutely requires two hands, and securing the latch is necessary for it to be rigid in use and not pinch you. Securing that latch takes a bit of hand strength.
