Hogue Knives Compound Tanto OTF Automatic Knife Dark Earth G-Mascus (3.5" Black)
Hogue knocks this one out of the park! It is the toughest most reliable OTF on the market even when compared to knives twice as much. I currently have 3 Hogue knives in my EDC rotation, I use these knives as intended and they have surpassed my expectations. This is a great OTF
Hogue brings it with this OTF. Its light weight because the outer shell is all G10 (their in house G10 styled G-Mascus) and it fires hard. Its inner frame is aluminum, and its very reliable mechanically. Ive had mine for a month and its never mis fired or failed to fire. The s30v tanto blade is strong and at 3.5" its not too big to EDC.

I love the look and feel of it and its made of great materials however Ive only had it a few days and its come off track multiple multiple times . Ive opened it up but cant find anything wrong pretty disappointed but its still cool so 3 stars
Great once Lubed
Bought this for my father as a Christmas gift as he has a few ultratec's in the collection and I wanted to give him something else to add. Upon getting the knife I gave it a once over checked it for function and put it back and wrapped it. When I unboxed it I noticed that the knife did not come in a plastic bad and thought that was strange. A few days latter when the opening begun,… read more my father started to play around with it and for some reason the blade was miss firing. Either failing to exit when pushed forward or fail to re insert fully on the back draw. My father knowing more about the knives than me tried to point the blade down and fire it. Still the blade was misfiring. My father and I talked about returning it or taking it apart our selves and we came to the conclusion to lube it up like a messy Friday night. Sure enough after working the action for a bit and letting the lube settle in worked without an issue. Would give it a higher rating if the blade was packaged in a way to retain oil so function would have been normal upon opening as it lost a lot of its appeal when failing to perform one of the knifes best traits. This being said the finish on the knife is extremely cool and unique with the hexagon milling and pattern. Also I own several other Hogue products my self. Will buy more no doubt.
Solid OTF!
This is not my first Hogue OTF nor will it be my last! Lightning fast deployment and rock solid locking action. This knife tough as nails and sharp as a razor out of the box! This G-10 Compound version is light and tough as nails! Blade HQ is the service you would expect, great prices and service.

Smooth Operating - Heavy Duty
Received the Exocet Dagger in black and it was approximately the size I was expecting, but a little heavier than anticipated. I used it for a couple of days, but my daughter in law was expressing her concern to me about the dangers of her work area, even during the day. So, she is the proud new owner of the Exocet...just hope she doesn't have to use it for protection.
Compact and Heavy Duty
Go the Exocet Dagger in black and was surprised at it's size and how solid it feels. Pulled it out of the box fresh out of the mailbox and even had to show it to one of my friends. He liked it, too. Will be a nice knife for taking on the bike. Nice job Microtech and BladeHQ for offering it.
Neat... take my money!
Love the available fun color ways. Compact for easy carry, and fires out like the logo would suggest. Pocket clip is easily detachable if needed. This is a great option if you prefer the thumb slide on the face of the handle and not the spine. Overall, the fit and finish of the Zulu Spear is fantastic!
Not My First OTF, BUT WOW
This is a legit OTF. Nice pop on the DA, both in and out! Solid price point when comparing the other top end brands. Steel (which is tops) and the handle are extremely well made.
I will be assessing, and purchasing another Hogue soon!
A very solid OTF option
Let me preface by saying that this was my first OTF, and my only basis for comparison is a Guardian Tactical Recon 035 that I've handled.
On balance, I think this is a really good knife, and good alternative to many of the higher-end OTF brands. The G10 scales look and feel great, though the shape of the handle is a bit odd in the hand.

not dark gray as it appears in the photo above) is well ground overall but arrived very dull. The blade play (both vertical and horizontal) seemed to me to be excessive, but is comparable to the GTR 035, and I gather pretty much the norm in even the higher-end OTFs.
The action is fast, snappy and satisfying, but requires a lot of force to deploy and retract. If you aren't holding the knife in just the right place in your hand, you'll find that your thumb has to do some real gymnastics especially to retract it. It's a feel thing, and once you find the sweet spot it's not so bad.
Ultimately I wound up returning this one in favor of the GTR 035, but if you like the unique look of this knife, give it a try! Hogue is a serious player in OTFs and does G10 scales as well as anyone in the business. I just wish they wouldn't ship a dull knife.
Hogue compound
I have microtechs, troodon is awesome, I purchased a pagen full size in that army green blah blah. When in get dressed in the am this is the blade that goes in pocket . Light weight, holds a strong edge, strongly recommend it.
