Amazing!

This was the first "High End" balisong I've ever bought, the only decent quality one I'd had before was a BRS Barebones, so I can't give any worthwhile comparison between this and any other high quality balisong such as an Alpha Beast or Replicant, but I can give my personal impressions. For $390 I honestly think this knife is under priced, the fit and finish is incredible, materials read more are top notch, and the flipping feels amazing. This is one of the best looking balisongs available in my opinion, the anodized liners and CF scales go together so well, and the blade is second to none. Another upside to this knife is the sound, after taking off the latch the soft clacking sound it makes is awesome. It has incredible tolerances and no blade rub at all. Flipping with this knife is also a dream, it is very smooth and well balanced, fanning is easy and aerials are easily controlled. the weight allows for keeping good momentum, but also is light enough for little fatigue. The thick handles also make twirling easy along with fanning. Overall this is the best Bali I have ever used, and I could not recommend it more. 10/10

Perfect

For starters, Homs are some of the nicest looking balis out there, and this one is no exception. I usually prefer all metal handles, but the weight of this CF one is perfect for me. It's well balanced and has zero handle play. The fit and finish is amazing, much better than what BRS delivers IMO.

Just Buy it! You'll love it

Ok, I am not pro flipper by any means but I own a business where I sell just about every brand of knife (not this brand, sadly) and have flipped the Brous B3, Quarter Master Mcfly, Microtech Tachyon III, and a hand full of others.... This Basilisk R is worth every penny!

Pro: Blade looks sweet and is crazy sharp, handle play is very minor, and flipping is smooth as silk. read more

Con: While the bushings are smooth I think a quality ball bearing system like the one on the Microtech Tachyon III would be even better... but I'm just nit-picking.

Also, the latch is annoying... It is not a spring latch and there is no detent, so it just flaps around while you flip and can get in the way. If I could change one thing on this knife the latch would be it... Jerry Hom, please fix this, you're one flaw away from a perfect knife.

to recap... Yes this knife cost as much as some nice guns, but if you're serious about flipping you won't be let down... If you're still not sold go check out the Microtech Tachyon III, BladeHq always has a good price on them and they are also insane quality (and a little cheaper) They have Ball bearings and a spring latch but they don't look as good as this Basilisk R

i'm still in the honeymoon phase but, i know enough to give my honest opinion on it so far. I just received this knife today, and it is crisp and clean right out of the box! Its tensions and handle play are absolutely 0, less play than my alpha beast.

The flipping on this thing is amazing, its thick handles make ladders and chaplins extremely easy!! Aerials are a little read more iffy (for me so far), but that doesn't stop the fun. Definitely worth the buy and I believe the quality is a bit better than what a Replicant from brs would be. And I compare this knife to a replicant in every way (even though I haven't owned a rep).

Finally Back in stock

Update Review - the Hom carbon fiber Basilisk-R , Is a fantastic knife & great flipper its does everything I can throw at it BT8B, Helix , Cherry picker , Hell bent Ect. with ease while confidential Mashing them into extended Combos . The only thing I can say bad about it is that it doesn't fan very well . But other then that the knife is an absolutely Fantastic Balisong . Very read more well built with tight tolerances & great Fit & finish

I've been waiting Months & Months for another run of the Hom CF Basilisk-R to be in stock again & after a loOong wait. I've finally got mine purchased , on its way & will be here in another day or two. I'm pretty stoked to get my hands on it an flipp .

I was just getting back into flipping. All the knives that I have owned were the cheap ones that I got in the Philippines and some from amazon. When I started to shop I saw that this was available. All I can say is that I am glad I got this. It is for sure the best knife I have ever owned. If there was another one in stock I would get one again just to keep mint.

Pros- Quality, read more hardware, balance, craftsmanship.

Cons- Availability, latch.

I replaced the latch because it was starting to take the finish off the safe handle (like most butterfly knives). I replaced the latch with a paracord latch.

I would buy this knife again from Blade HQ, they answered all my questions and it was shipped fast!

Best Butterfly Knife

Recently purchased the Carbon Fibre Basilisk. Shipping was very fast, which is par for the course w/ Blade HQ. Knife was packed very well.

The knife is the best butterfly that I have owned. Knife is light weight & very well balanced. The blade is sleek, gorgeous and sharp right out of the box. Looks beautiful, like art in a knife should.
I would highly recommend this one read more for anyone looking to get a high end butterfly at a price that won't cause you another mortgage payment.

Lucked out...again

This bali is sweeeeet! This is knife is a welcomed and much appreciated addition to my stable. I am a bit intimidated to do all out flipping as of yet, but so far so good. Also, Blade HQ's service was stellar. So far, my last 3 balis were full stars. I hope the barebones comes out in the fall or I am gonna break the bank!

Even better than expected

This Bali is really fantastic. Thing oozes quality. The tolerances are such that there is basically zero play and the balance makes the knife feel like it's on autopilot while flipping. The scales provide the perfect amount of grip and slip. The handles are thicker than any other bali's I own and I find them to really help manipulate the knife. There is zero manufacturing defects read more and the blade came with a flawless finish and coated in renaissance wax.

The only possible downside I can see is the the blade has an extreme point which could be broken if dropped, but I am absolutely willing to accept that possibility for how beautiful this blade shape is. I don't usually like Bowie grinds much but the recurve makes this one something special and my favorite tied with the flyti zenith.

Honestly if you can get in on one of the next releases you will have one of the finest flipping balisongs in existence. I think it's considered a high end production knife but it feels like a midtech in every way. A nice one at that.

Beautiful and decent flipper
