Great EDC

I’ve always like Kershaw for EDC workhorse knives, and this is my favorite so far. The handle is very comfortable and I like the scale on one side and just the frame on the clip side. It provides plenty of grip without tearing up my pocket. The only downside is the blade steel, which doesn’t hold an edge as long as I’d like.

This knife is absolutely amazing! I have had this knife for about 3 years; and it has one of the best lock ups out of most of my knives. The wave feature is outstanding and has great contact when in action.

Works and look great

I love the looks and functionality of this knife. I really like the stone wash on it and how the two sides are different colors, it makes it stand out. I love the fast deploy of the knife so its ready to work when you are. it's great for self-defense and also regular everyday use

Good knife but not for me

I bought the CQC 5K first. It opened easier for me than this knife but neither one floated my boat with the opening mechanisms. I wanted to love this knife, it’s well made and a hefty user. The wave opener is not my thing. The thumb disk is ok but I can’t comfortably keep my fingers off the frame lock which puts pressure on the blade while opening, making it a not so reliable read more opener for me. Get rid of the wave and the disk, make it a flipper and it’d be perfect.

Great knife for the price

Overall a very good knife for the price point. It came razor sharp out of the box and the blade holds an edge for a long time. The wave feature works great after a little practice. The lock up has a little bit of play but is expected at this price point. The thumb disk works good for opening but takes some getting used to, opening the blade isn't very fast as noted by another review. read more Would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good tactical folder.

Looks great, minor issues

I just received this today, I don't have much use on it yet so bear that in mind. However, I already like this knife. It feels solid and the ergonomics are good. The Emmerson Wave feature is great. The lockup is solid and it looks as good in person as it does on the screen.

It did come with minor issues though. Nothing major, but to list them quickly: the detent that keeps read more the blade from coming open by itself feels a bit too strong, the lockbar portion of the frame seems to be very hard to move when I want to close the knife, and lastly the action when it slides open manually is sluggish which I attribute partially to the thumb disk.

All of those things listed don't ruin my enjoyment of this knife. Most of them feel like "new knife" problems, meaning they will become less of an issue with more use. Even the issue I have with the thumb disk will hopefully resolve itself once I get used to using it. This knife is well worth the money in my opinion, and I only listed these issues so potential buyers know to expect them out of the box.

If you're on the fence about this knife, I would advise you to go ahead and pick it up. I am very pleased with my purchase and I believe you will be as well.

I usually hate tanto blades, but I do like this one. Unfortunately mine didn't come with the longer screws for the left side of the knife. Jb weld fixed that problem.

Good Price, Quality Folder

This tanto Emerson design Kershaw (CQC-7K) looks fantastic. No complaint for the money. I've been using tanto blades for decades, either EDC purposes or for self defense and always had one on me on deployments. The G10 has a sturdy feel, just be warned this knife is a bit on the heavy side being an Emerson design, but it is SOLID. The clip is nicely formed, with 3 screw points and read more spare screws come with the blade. The edge sharpens well (8cr14mov steel) and I would place this in the same category as the Kershaw Cryo for feel and weight as well as steel/edge capabilities. Definitely not a bad choice for those who want a sturdy EDC and prefer tanto blades. The "jimping" is very pronounced and accommodating, but not too sharp so it won't bite the thumb too hard. Feel is great, lock-up is righteous at 65% or more, no blade wiggle, seats even down the middle when folded. The "wave" opening feature for rapid deployment from the pocket works well, too. Nice job on the knife!

Exceptional Quality for the money

If you need a good knife, a beater, or something for the toolbox, look no further. This line of knives is my favorite in the sub $40 category.

Good knife, good quality

Good knife for money. Awesome Kershaw quality. Emerson feature works 100% of the time. Not crazy about the tanto blade shape. Not a good EDC choice, more for defensive purpose.
