Judging from all the reviews, QC can apparently be hit or miss on this knife. Fortunately I got a good one...the detent is just right, jimping on flipper tab is just right, grind is even and sharp. The action on mine is perfect, not too tough to open but it's nearly impossible to make it fail to open. The sub-frame lock is easy to close one-handed, so one-handed opening and closing read more is simple and enjoyable. I have not disassembled, adjusted or lubricated the knife, things I've grown too used to doing on new production Chinese knives...If I felt it would benefit I'd take it apart but the action is so good there's just no reason. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Beautiful knife, poor execution

Andrew C.

The knife looks and feels amazing. I love the D2 steel for the price. Mine is a pretty good flipper once you get used to it although it hurts the thumb a tad if you do it constantly. My main gripe is you cannot close mine with one hand. The subframe lock is way too stiff its basically impossible to operate.

Great little flipper!

I have to admit, I'm pretty impressed by this little knife. Having watched and read a some of the negative reviews, I wasn't sure if the Natrix would be any good, but I liked the look of it and was wanting a knife with copper scales, so I thought I'd give it a shot. The blade is perfectly centered, it flicks out like a champ, it's easy to close one-handed, the blade is sharp out read more of the box, and ergonomics are good for a smaller knife. Granted, I just got it, so we'll see how it stands the test of time, but this littlle guy is more than worth the money I paid. I'm excited to watch the copper start to develop patina!

Great little Cu flipper!

This little knife is great in Copper scales, perfect centering, sharp blade out of the box, gotta keep your off the lock bar when flipping though. Some with bigger Mits might not like the flipping action because of that but I think it's a home run of a blade for the money! Oh and the scales will patina up really nice too that's the best part watching it change every day! You can't read more go wrong with one of these knives, kind of puts me in mind of the Civivi Elementum that's another good one for the money also !!

I love this knife, but...

There is one major drawback to this otherwise outstanding and beautiful knife, the pocket clip. First, the tip of the clip is too shallow making it somewhat of a chore to put into your pocket. When your pocket fabric does work under the clip it immediately runs into two round headed screws that block the path. Then the fabric hits the base of the clip which is not recessed and two read more more round headed screws also not recessed. Recessing all these screws and recessing the clip base would be much better. Plus the poorly designed clip creates uncomfortable hot spots.

I decided to change the clip to left hand carry because of these issues. But doing so caused the sub-liner lock to become loose, so I asked Kershaw to send a couple of extra screws. Now there are four domed screws on one side thar are, no other way to say it, ugly. If redesigned with recessed screws and a more functional clip and I would give this knife five stars. As it is only 3 stars. I rarely carry this knife because of the terrible ergonomics of the pocket clip.

Gorgeous knife flawed by a pocket clip that seems to be an afterthought.

I wanted to love it, ended up selling.

golly that detent is stronger than my generations will to be swallowed up into the void. its a great knife out of box, sharp as can be, and it feels great in hand. But the flipper is wayyyyy too small, and the grooves on it are dumb. Kershaw is known for making flipper tabs that flow like butter, but this guy is a chore to open. I like the concept, but not great execution. EDIT: read more I ended up selling it, and just got the Boker Plus Kansei Nori folder in copper, and I love it way more.

I really like this knife, I think it’s a good value...Love the stone wash D2 steel... My only drawback is the action is really stiff and I prefer a smooth easy action. No big deal a little 10 w Nano-oil and it should be just fine...🤪

First copper handle knife

Smaller than expected, but still awesome.
The fuller grinds were slightly off, but didn't affect the performance of the knife. Detent was perfect and was sharp out of the box. Had this for about two months and the patina is coming along really nice.

First copper knife

I really enjoy this particular knife. It's smaller than I normally like but still carry it plenty. The deep pocket clip is one of my favorite features of it. D2 steel is very useable and holds a decent edge. Watching the copper patina over time can be fascinating. Only negative thing I can think of is the flipper tab is somewhat small and can dig into your finger if you fidget with read more it often. Other than that the action is very smooth. I'm hoping they will make a full size version of this knife in the future.

Great little knife. Every time I use the knife, somebody wants to check it out. Cant wait for the patina.

Somewhat let down.

Adrian J.

Like many, I'd been looking forward to this knife for a long time. I love Kershaw, I love copper scales and I love small knives. The design looks killer, and I was excited about the D2 blade. I ordered one from Blade HQ, who got it to me with their usual great quality service. Unfortunately, when I got it I was fairly let down. The detent was so stiff that opening was nearly a two read more handed affair, the action wasn't particularly smooth, the blade was only somewhat sharp(considerably less so than, say, any of my Cryo's), and one of the screws immediately stripped. It's such an awesome design, and I love Kershaw. I hope they are able to sort out the QC issues this model has shown early on. I'll probably get another at some point and hope it's better, but for now my experience with this model has been lacking.

Very cool - pretty functional

-I love the way this looks and feels. Honestly it is just cool. Looks great with Jeans and I have had it 6+ months so the Patina is nice.
-Blade is great. No complaints.
-Comfortable to hold for EDC.
-Flipping action is "pretty good" but not amazing. Flipping it open for use is great. But you want want to flip it back and forth and fidget with it like some knives.
-Disengaging read more the sub-lock is kind of a pain for me. It's not difficult but it takes some thought as my finger wants to push on it to grip the knife which means my thumb sometimes is pushing against my other fingers. NOT a deal breaker, I still carry it often, but just be aware that if you use your knife all the time and are always deploying and closing, there are other knives for the same money that are better at that. But that copper!

Small

Tristan B.

I knew the knife would be small, but it is hard to hold. I have small hands, but even still it is very difficult to hold the knife. I think a finger choil like the pilar large would make this knife amazing. Or offer copper on the normal size natrix.

Great blade shape and feel in hand.

Love the design all around. Nice weight to it in hand. The patina which forms is pretty fun to watch as the days go by.
Only issue is accidentally placing your fingers on the lock bar while trying to open it which really hinders the momentum of the blade.

The Mini Natrix fits my needs really well.
I purchased a regular Kershaw Natrix a while ago but it was a little too big, the choice of materials and finish was not so attractive (green g10 and black blade) and the knife looked too intimidating for EDC.

This Mini Natrix looks awesome and the size and ergonomics are perfect for my daily needs in the office.

Great look-terrible action

I wanted this knife to be great because I love the copper and knowing it’s color would gradually change over time, but the action was terrible. I couldn’t even flip open the knife using the flipper, I had to return it.

It only looks better as it ages!

Christopher A.

The fit and finish of this knife is outstanding! Kershaw has high standards, but this particular knife is even nicer. The tolerances and blade centering were perfect out of the box, and haven't needed any adjustment. The bearings make it feel almost assisted, it's so smooth and quick. The weight of the copper makes the knife feel slightly more substantial in hand than the smaller read more size would seem. The D2 has held up AMAZINGLY well over my usage.

The copper is the star of the show, though. It has been so awesome to watch the patina form, rub off, and come back. It's ever changing and morphing as I go through cycles of carrying it and storing it.

I would LOVE a full-sized Natrix or Bareknuckle in copper, especially with D2 or another better steel, but the Mini Natrix is awesome on it's own.

It's about the copper

I'm a Kershaw fan first of all, but when I saw the Shot show video, and I saw the copper mini Natrix and the copper flashlight together, I said, got a have it and I did. I know it's not USA made, but mine works very well both opening and closing, no problems..looking forward to the change in patina...it's about the copper.

Patina

Let's see them patinas. This knife is more than a patina machine that everyone wants. This thing is a fully functional beast of a knife. The size if perfect for me and I love the extra heavy weight of it. Makes me feel like I'm actually carrying something. Flips easy and locks strong. A little extra pocket time and I may have myself a new favorite EDC. I love looking at it right read more now and thinking about the changes it's going to have.

My Copper Natrix story

Bob B.

So when I first read about this knife I thought “hmmmm, that would make a nice addition to the collection”. So I came to the wonderful Blade HQ website (which I spend too much time looking at) to see if they had it. I think at the time it was on Pre order so I put it on my ‘wishlist’ then one day I got the email that it was in-stock but I was at work and waited too long read more and by the time I went to order it it was already sold out! So I made sure it remained on my wishlist. Then one day I got that email telling me it was back in stock. Again I was at work and waited too long to order it and it was out of stock again! Me being the bummed out but diligent knife head I am made sure it stayed on my wishlist. Then it came back in stock again and I was extra quick on the trigger this time and I finally completed my order. Now I had read some negative reviews, dull blades, sharp flippers, bad action. But this did not deter me though I was a little concerned about what I may receive. To my delight, what I received was excellent. The blade was much, much sharper than I expected, the flipper was not sharp, and the action was perfectly fine. I’ve now had this knife for about a month now and I really couldn’t be happier with it. I own and have carried a couple bigger ZT’s (0300bw, 0561) so carrying this is less obtrusive and perfect for shorts, practically disappears in my pocket. Great knife!

I wanted to love it

I was so stoked to get this knife, I missed the first batch and I knew I had to have it. I do like the knife, I love the size, the copper scales are gorgeous and with the D2 steel and the deep carry clip this should have been a perfect carry blade. The problem for me lies in the opening and closing, the detent on it is very heavy, which opening the knife was very difficult. Also read more even though it has a bearing system, it still opens like a SpeedSafe knife so it didn't feel as smooth like a KVT knife. Closing the Natrix is difficult too, the sub frame lock is stiff. I understand that a knife needs to be broken in , but with these issues it shows the problems with the knife. I really did like this knife, but I had to send it back. I've handled a couple other Natrix's, just to see if I just had a bad one, and they were all pretty hit or miss. The Kershaw Natrix has alot going for it and I really do like it. If they fix the issues with it this would really be a great knife and I would buy one again.

A few months after purchasing a Kershaw Natrix 7007TAN this sexy little beast showed up in stock. It was love at first drool. Never had a knife with copper scales, and a Mini-Natrix sounded amazing. I was not disappointed.

I now consider it my "Dress Knife" for special occasions and I have a Carpe Noctem "Seize the Night" Solid Copper Challenge Coin to compliment it.

If read more you find it stiff to open at first, a few drops of Benchmade Blue Lube and a few flips should smooth it out beautifully.

Very smooth, had good lock up, and over good fit and finish. This is my first experience with D2, it's a good steel but it definitely takes a little more maintenance and care to prevent rush spots then your normal stainless steels.

ive have this knife for a couple of weeks now, and i have yet to encounter any problems of any kind, despite all the negitive reveiws/videos ive read and seen. kershaw seems to have fixed all the quality control issues that ive read about since this knife first dropped. so far, the detent ball performs flawlessly despite constantly flicking it like a figet toy to this day. the blade read more rolls across the barrings as smoothly as if they were made of oiled ice. there is zero blade play of any kind. and of coarse, its an absolute stunner as far as looks!

i cant speak for everyone, but to me, its a keeper!

...if only they made it in full size!

Only gripes are the uneven blade grinds (higher on one side than the other) and plastic spacer.

Love the copper look and deep pocket carry clip.

I really looked forward to getting this knife. It was nice, but it was too difficult to flip open and close with one hand. I didn’t feel like I should have to tear it apart to make it work correctly, so I returned mine.

A truly great knife, especially for the price!

I read all the reviews before purchasing this knife, and knew it was going to be a beautiful knife, but was not sure it would be a smooth flipper. Well now that I have the knife in hand, I can assure you that the action on this knife is smooth. What a treasure! I just hope that Kershaw makes a larger version of the Natrix Copper.

Had higher hopes

Don’t get me wrong, the copper is cool and I view this more as a collectors piece that will look cooler in the future. The bad things: the flipper is kind of stiff unfortunately, I might just need to live it. The action is kind of weak, from open and close it just feels stiff. The good: that copper is stunning, it has a D2 blade and a great deep carry pocket clip. The knife is read more all around cool BUT it will never be my go to knife.

Love the look and feel. QC needs work

I really like the size they went with. It feels like it has some elegance but wants to work. The pocket clip is really nice. The scales are great. I'm a sucker for copper. 2 things I would change on the design is the flipper tab and the lock bar. The flipper tab is too pointy and can hurt the finger a little especially withhow thin the blade stock is. The lockbar also needs to extend read more out a little further than the show scale. It's hard to disengage the lock. Other than that I love the design. Other things I weren't happy about were the edge and the lockbar anchor point. The edge is super uneven on one side near the tip. I have to put a brand new edge on it right out of the box. Everyone knows the issue that you need the 2 screws and the pocket clip screws on the lockbar side to keep the detent and avoid the lockbar shifting. That seemed like it was on the 1st batch. All Kershaw had to do is ship 2 more screws for lefties on the 2nd batch. No, instead they decided to glue the heck out of the where the lockbar mounts to the frame. Now I have to remove a bunch of glue that dripped all over the gap between the lock and the frame. 2 screws..... 2...... screws..... I'd say avoid the purchase if you don't have the skills or the tools to correct these issues.

Out of box hard detent really stiff. Was outside in the cold, knife was very colt to the touch. Let knife cool down while closed. Reopen it and it has to perfect action. I don't know if the cooling and heating properties had anything to do with it but now it has perfect action and detent seems to be sport on...

Finish and detail are beautiful, blade is centered and locks ups solid with no play. Was stiff to open out the box but broke in nice. Came razor sharp. Love the pocket clip.
Like others have said the black backspacer looks out of place, they should have made it stonewashed to match the blade and clip. It’s a smaller knife, but it’s a great light use edc.

Just OK

Jeff I.

Really like the look of the copper scales and blade shape. However if I don't open the knife aggressively the lock bar won't engage and it asks as a slip joint. Also the detent was really strong and took some force to open the knife which I liked. However that's recently changed and there is no hold at all and the blade is loose and can just open on its own. The flipper has become read more next to useless unless I give it a wrist flick, which I never had to do before. I'm new to the knife world and not sure if these issues are adjustable. However I would expect it to work spot on from the factory.

Solid knife with some flaws

David C.

My review will echo many others. This knife is beautiful and mine came shaving sharp, even if the secondary bevels do have a slight wave in the grind. My fullers line up evenly as well. Blade centering is perfect and lockup is solid. I get about 40% lock bar engagement and there is zero side-to-side play. The deep carry pocket clip allows it to disappear into a pocket.

Now read more for the bad. As many have stated, the plastic back spacer really kills it. Nothing that a little chunk of copper and a mill can't remedy, but I'd prefer not to have to make my own. Also, my particular knife cannot be opened with the flipper alone. The detent is WAY too strong and requires me to both push the flipper and also pinch the blade and pull with my other hand. I've had mine for about a week and have opened and closed it several hundred times with no sign of it loosening up. I feel I'll likely have to punch the detent ball in to the lock bar as another review mentioned.

Other than the cheap spacer and the fact that I cannot use the knife one handed, I like it.

Good for price easy detent fix

Michael C.

So my edges are a little un even and the detent was the worst I've ever experienced on a knife... was easy to fix get a nail set and a small hammer and knock detent ball further in now feels great

Almost an icon

RICHARD B.

You have to love Kershaw for selling quality knives at an affordable price. If it wasnt for budget friendly companies like Kershaw some people may have never picked up the knife habit.
The Copper Natrix is ALMOST AN ICONIC piece and comes in at a great Kershaw price level. Here is why it is almost iconic:
1 PLASTIC SPACER? WHAT...WHAT? Will it melt if I leave it in the sun?
2 read more WORST LOCKING MECHANISM ON A FLIPPER EVER. FLIPPER IS ACTUALLY PAINFUL YOU HAVE TO PRESS SO HARD.
3 SIZE, well it's cute my wife says. This should really be full size with a 3.5" or greater blade and full size grip.
The GOOD:
1 OVERALL ITS GORGEOUS! The copper scales, blade and hardware are bead blast finishes that give it a very cohesive look.
2 The D2 blade is huge for the grip,
It has a 2.75" blade in a 3.625" grip. Great job fitting this together.
3 Great blade steel, D2.
4 Pivot screw is machined artwork, it reminds me of an older Porshe rim.
5 There is no lanyard hole, BUT the pocket clip has a hole at the end wear you can add a lanyard.
6 It has Copper scales!
7 It is GORGEOUS!
Ok Kershaw, we are now all waiting for the full size version! You know it will sell.

I want to love it, but...

Thomas B.

My review will be like so many others here. Lots to like and lots that needs work. I’ll try and keep this simple.

It’s a cool looking knife with some heft for its size. The stonewash copper scales are really cool and I like the finish on the sexy blade. And the D2 is plenty hard. Now for the not so good...

The blade was dull and very unevenly ground. I have a Wicked read more Edge system and it took a while to get the bevels even and sharp to the apex.

And the detent and lockup... ugh. Mine wasn’t super smooth out of the box and the detent was seriously strong. The jumping on the flipper tab is SHARP. Combine this with the overly strong detent and this a painful knife to open.

After disassembly, cleaning and inspection, the issue seems to be a too-large detent hole in the blade allowing the entire ball to drop into the hole. You have to overcome a tremendous amount of stiction to get the blade launched but once it gets going, it deploys quickly and securely.

The lock bar has some adjustability but there is a delicate relationship between lockup and detent and deployment. I couldn’t find the sweet spot, so I’m living with a painful action to deployment. Had I played with one in a store and experienced what I have, I wouldn’t have bought it.

Evidently there are better examples out there so maybe you get a good one. But for me... meh. If the detent was better, I’d be in my pocket a lot. I’m not sure it’ll see a lot of use though.

Only for right hand carry!

Mike Z.

I am def keeping this knife, BUT it has it's issues. The detent is so strong and the jimping on the flipper tab is so sharp I almost wish it were assisted. I'll take the time to break it in, but I really hoped for better action, especially since it's on bearings.
I broke it down to take a look at it, and it was really clean out of the factory, BUT I discovered my detent ball read more wouldn't lock up the blade unless my clip screws were installed on the right side. Looks like those screws actually act to stabilize the lock insert to enough of a degree that if you install them for left carry the insert has a bit of play, and this thing ain't locking! That's a bit of an issue.
But I like it even though it is small and hope it'll get better with age, especially once it develops a nice patina. That and I RHC

Needs work

Joel B.

This was way smaller than I thought. I like the knife but thought it would be a Natrix like the rest of the Natrix knives. It's not; it's small. I honestly don't think the quality is up there either, compared to my original Natrix or other Natrixs I've handled.

So, before you jump in on the copper bandwagon, make sure you measure the OAL of this one and compare it to the read more others. If you have large hands, this knife is going to feel tiny. And due to its size, that makes it not really easy to open, at least initially. I assume with some TLC and fiddling, it'll get easier but I've never had to do that with any Kershaw knife I've ever purchased and I currently own 17 of them, including this one.

A Great Knife but.... (UPDATED)

Justin S.

The copper Natrix has so much potential! The copper scales are perfect. The D2 blade is sharp with a good grind and even edge, no blade play, and the bearings are quick. The deep carry pocket clip is a nice addition and is perfect for pocket carry. My only complaint, and it almost ruins the entire experience for me, is that the detent and lock are extremely stiff to the point one read more handed opening is nearly impossible. As soon as they're back in stock I will likely exchange the knife in hopes to get one with slightly better action. It's a great buy if you get the right one.

So I exchanged my original copper Natirx and this knife is noticeably better. First, hats off for the amazing customer service BladeHQ! Thank you for the free return shipping and super fast replacement. Second, this new copper Natrix was near perfect straight from the box. The detent was slightly stiff at first, but after a hundred or so flips the action is like butter now. This knife flips and closes better than some of my higher end production knifes that cost several hundred dollars more. I only wish this knife was made in the USA or even part of their ZT line. The D2 steel is sharp enough to shave with, and the blade alignment is perfect. With the copper Natrix, it really seems that the knife you receive is either a hit or a miss. Thank goodness this second knife was a hit because it makes a great EDC workhorse knife.

Not perfect but still worth it (UPDATED END)

I finally saw this knife available here last week, put it in my cart, and when I tried to pay, it was already gone.
So I ordered one from a retailer from Seattle. I'm not too impressed, but I still love it. I'm obsessed with copper, and I have been wanting a copper knife for a long time. The problem is that a decent copper folding knife is too expensive.
Until now!
This read more is worth it the $60 (or $50 if you snatched it at Massdrop).
PROS:
-Beautiful copper handles. The stone washed look is gorgeous, although I would rather have a polished copper handle.
-The sharperst factory edge I ever saw. It's even sharper than my Spyderco PM 2 Limited Edition OD/Black blade S30V.
-Ultra deep deep-carry clip. It disappears in your pocket, and the stone washed clip blends with your clothing.
-Perfect weight. I thought it would be heavy, but carries almost imperceptible in your pocket.
-The BEST blade-to-handle ratio I've ever seen. I mean, the blade is not too big, but it is huge when compared to the size of the handle. For example, its cutting edge is the same as the Para 3, which is much bigger knife.
-The handles don't quite give you a four-finger purchase, but it's almost there. It is secure and comfortable enough. An eight of an inch smaller and it would need a lanyard.
-No thumb studs. God, I hate those things.
-Gorgeous looking little knife in general.
CONS:
-Speaking of lanyard, one of the cons is that there is no lanyard hole. You don't actually need a lanyard, but let's face it, we are buying this knife for the looks. So for the sake of looks I would want to stick a lanyard with a copper bead in it.
-I know the metal lockbar is a characteristic of the Natrix series, but I would much rather have a copper lockbar with a metal insert. ---The lockbar is metal, but it looks like plastic. Kershaw either couldn't or didn't bother to achieve the same stone wash finish as the blade. It's similar, but because the lockbar goes over the blade when the knife is closed, the difference is screaming on your face.
-A butt-ugly, cheap-looking plastic backspacer. I would remove it if I found out it is unnecessary. Does anyone knows about it? It's black, and there's a molding mark right through the middle. I really hope someone will come up with an aftermarket backspacer for this knife. I would definitely buy it.
-It's hard to close. This isn't much of an issue. You just gotta get used to not touching the lockbar when closing or opening. It's difficult to get used to it, though, because it is a small knife and the lockbar takes about 40 percent of the knife's width. But not a deal breaker. You just gotta get used to it.
-It's also difficult and painful to flip it open right out of the box. Action is way too stiff. I loosened it a little until the blade was uncentered, then pushed the blade back to center and tightened until it was still comfortable enough to flip it. I've had it for half a day, poured some oil over the bearings, and it's now easier, but far from not being painful on your finger. Don't expect to play with it all day, but in order to make it less stiff, playing with it all day is exactly what you need to do. The wide lockbar also gets in the way when opening. If you just rest your finger on it, it makes it even harder or impossible to flip it open. I'm confident that a few days with it will loosen up the knife, though.
-Speaking of flipping, the flip tab is raw. The ribs have way too sharp edges. Flip it enough and your finger will become raw too.
-Because of the grove on the upper part of the blade of the Natrix series, when you look at the spine from the top, it's common for it to be imperfect. That's the case with mine. Doesn't bother me much, but if it bothers you, be aware.
JUDGMENT:
All in all, there are some amazing copper knifes out there in the $600-$800 range, and some similar quality copper knives in the $150-$250 range. But with this Kershaw at $60, it is a steal, despite the shortcomings. I'd buy it again.
UPDATE
After a day and a half, it's easier to flip the knife, but by no means it's smooth. The detent is still strong. But the main problem is that as the flipping becomes snappier, the lockbar sinks deeper into the bottom of the blade. This makes it the lockbar even stickier and nearly impossible to close the knife with one hand. It's actually dangerous to try close it with one hand because if you slip your thumb while unlocking the lockbar (you need a lot of thumb pressure), you may drop the blade on your thumb. And that D2, let me tell you, is razor sharp.

I love this knife, that being said its got quite a few flaws. QC obviously wasn't great judging by some of the things ive seen and fit and finish could be a bit better on the grinds and a few other things. One of the bigger issues tho is how easy it I to effect your detent if you do anything involving the lockbar including the screws that hold the clip, its not unfixable but it read more can be a real pain to get the detent back to perfect and could have been solved much better imo. Still in love for the price tho, disappears in the pocket and fits nice in my medium to large hands, also im addicted to spydie flicking this thing.

Hopefully Kershaw will take another crack at this maybe a larger size or if they could find a way to cover more of the lockbar the ease of opening and closing would be much easier on the little guy

Awkward - wish I could love it

There's a lot of things I love about the Natrix Copper. The scales are beautiful, the size and weight are great, the ball bearing pivot works pretty well, and it has a deep carry clip.

I was disappointed with the fit & finish. When I first opened the box, the knife was so stiff that I couldn't fully flip it open. The flipper is sharp and uncomfortable. The subframe lock presses read more so hard that it jams the blade open, and you need two hands to pop it out and release the lock. Hopefully the action will calm down once I've broken it in, but it seems very unrefined. Maybe this is a QC problem with my specific knife.

The blade edge on my knife was pretty inconsistent. It needs a resharpen (which I'm told is no fun with a D2 blade). And what surprised me most was the back spacer - it's made of cheap injection molded black plastic. You can see the tabs from the mold. For a knife that's made primarily to look good, this was a silly corner to cut.

It's not the worst knife I've ever bought, but there's no way it's worth $60. BladeHQ has the M390 Dividend for about $20 more, and that knife punches way above its pay grade. The Natrix Copper looks cool and unique enough, but the refinement and performance are on par with a $30 budget knife.

Bought this knife to have something very unique in D2 Steel.

Pros:
Action: Good little flipper knife, Came a little stiff, but quickly loosened up.
Look: Knife looks great, can't wait to see how it ages.
Weight: Very nice for a knife with copper scales

Okay/Indifferent:

Blade Grind: Blade is okay.
Sharpness: Could be sharper out of the box, most read more of my other kershaws are sharper
Size: A little small for me, but may be great for others
Clip: Deep carry clip, but screws can get in the way of putting it into your pocket
China: Made in China, would have preferred USA Made, but can't complain too much

Bad:
Nothing I can identify yet.

BTW, this knife doesn't require anything other than the torx wrenches that almost every other pocket knife uses to adjust the pivot.

Great piece

It's awesome to see these materials from Kershaw. The design is great, looks great, feels great, works great. Detent is a little stiff for my taste but functions as indended. Love the copper and D2. Great knife Kershaw!

Hit and a miss

Sharp. Decently concentric grind and edge. Good centering. Good action and lockup is about 40%, which is pretty ideal. I like the look of copper and I like the deep carry clip. The jimping is what I would consider perfect. The problem for me is twofold... even with pockets milled out it is extremely heavy for it's rather dainty size... and the backspacer is garbage. Its plastic with read more a lovely mold line up the middle. Why would you even bother trashing the knife up with that. I'd rather have it open construction than I would a junky looking spacer on an otherwise handsome tool. As a minor niggle the pocket clip was way too tight out of the box but was remedied without issue. If 3.5 stars was an option I'd have rated it there

Not bad at all!

This is 5 stars for a Kershaw, TBH. I own several, and the only other one that compares in quality is my composite blade Leek. Sure, it's not on the level of a ZT, but c'mon.

GOOD: Mine has a great detent, good action, perfect centering, and no blade play. Solid lock-up at about 25-30%. It's also properly paper-cutting sharp out of the box. The fullers are symmetrical on read more mine. That was something I was worried about. A few sub-$100 fullered knives I've seen are noticeably uneven between each side of the blade. The clip is great; super deep carry, which I like.
I love the weight and feel of the copper scales, and can't wait to see how it patinas.
I'm also tempted to force a green/blue patina on the 'shallows' (ie: the three recessed areas on the scale). I've done work like that before, with paint brushes, a vinegar/ammonia/salt solution, and on larger sheets of copper.
Lastly, it arrived clean inside and out. No factory grit, etc.

BAD: The edge grind is uneven. This doesn't effect cutting, but it is a bummer visually. Nitpick: I wish the backspacer wasn't black plastic. Barrel spacers or metal matching the clip and pivot would have been better, IMO.

One thing to note, and this doesn't bother me: I knew its dimensions going in, yet it still looks tiny in person. I'm cool with small knives, especially when they are as dense as this one. But, that's something to consider. If you have huge hands or hate cute, little knives, this might not be for you.

Overall, I think this knife is well worth the price, and I'm glad it finally released.

Fingers crossed

These were out of stock a day or two ago. Even though I clicked, "email me" I did not get an email indicating these were back in stock. Glad I checked! Can't wait to get this one in hand!

A great knife....with some reservations

I had pre-ordered this knife back when it first got previewed, When I finally got it in the mail I was quite happy with it. Now that I have had a chance to use it there are a couple of things that should be stated. The lockup is solid but there is quite a bit of lock stick, I think this is due to the fact that there is no lock bar insert. The fairly soft metal of the lock bar compared read more to the hardened D2 steel of the blade causes a bit of abrasion to the lock bar face. I think this will get better with use or perhaps with some polishing of the lock faces. My biggest issue with the knife is that the cutout for releasing the lock bar, it's just a little bit too small. I end up having to press my thumb into the space between the face scale and the lock bar so much that it can actually be painful, but that's the only way to get a purchase on the lock bar to unlock the knife. More often I just unlock the knife with two hands. Other than that it is a beautiful knife, I love the copper scales and the little details in the design. I would love to have some custom hardware or backspacer for this knife to really make it my own.

Almost awesome

So I’ll start with the good. The action on this knife is spot on. Excellent detent and super smooth on the ball bearings. So happy they didn’t do this one as a speedsafe model. My big flaw is the blade. The sharpening on mine was HORRIBLE. Wouldn’t cut paper at all. Also, there were severe low spots where the sharpening from the factory was way messed up. Finally, I added read more a finger choil at the end of the blade so I could get it sharp all the way to the edge on my KME and give me an option for a full four finger grip. I feel like if they made this knife in USA it could have been an absolute home run. But in an effort to keep the price down, which I understand, they also opened up the door for some quality issues like what I had on mine. Overall at the price I do like the knife and would recommend it with the caviat you made need to work on the blade to make it useable.

My ZT0770CF is gonna get grumpy giving up pocket space to this jewel. Perfectly centered, great snap upon opening,(even though it is just a flipper) sharp, classy looking knife. My knives are in and out of my pocket multiple times a day and this knife got looked at by just about everybody that was around it yesterday. I think BHQ will run out quick. This is one case where china read more stealing tech has paid off.

Very pleased with this version of the Natrix. The copper looks great and the upgrade in steel is nice. Very compact and thin. It makes for a great gentleman’s folder. Well centered but lock up is a little late on mine. Give this one a try, it’s great...

China?

This has the makings to be an American classic... but not. Ok so there's no lanyard hole- so what? It's small? Yea- but it fits perfectly and it's affordable. The copper is milled out to perfection and I love the clip. D2 is a great user steel and the ornate back spacer is classy. The KVT bearings make this little Kershaw smooove like butta and mine came sharp and centered out of read more the box... but I'm having a hard time knowing it's made in China.
