Beautiful Knife

I wanted a Sinkevich design as a dress knife. His designs just seem to have a classiness about them that most others don't. This knife looks much better in person than on screen. It got my normal stropping and oiling as all of my more affordable knives do. It has a good action and is very light and appropriate for dress clothes. I am very pleased with the purchase.

It's sticking around

When I first picked this knife up, I was shocked by how well it executes several things. 1) It packs as much blade as it possibly can into a small package 2) the fit and finish are perfect 3) the action is excellent 4) the ergos are excellent.

But there are a couple things that keep me from giving it 5 stars: 1) the steel. 8CR13MOV is soft. Needs to be sharpened often. But… read more more than that... 2) the aesthetics. I don't like the way this knife looks. It looks like a weird combination of futuristic-alien and Persian empire. It's just kinda... weird looking.

At the same time, it's a great blade, and if you like the look I highly recommend this one. Great job, Kershaw.

This knife looks great and feels great in your hand. The action is very smooth and i will be carrying this knife for the foreseeable future.

Really wanted to like it, but...

Overall I think this knife has a great looking design and carries like a feather, but it could certainly use some improvements.

Pros: As mentioned, it looks cool and is very lightweight. Action is smooth due to bearing system. Feels good in hand and has a nice balance.

Cons: Pocket clip although deep carry, creates quite the hotspot. Flipper tab is sharp (sliced my… read more index finger open)! Even though the blade is 8cr, I have found it hard to sharpen (could be just me but appears as though grind is uneven).

All in all, it's good enough that I still carry it from time to time but it certainly is not one of my favorite Kershaws.

G r e a t A E S T H E T I C S

For the price, you will get something very cool that you can get to know and appreciate. This knife you will find has subtle design elements that you can discover and hope that you, like I, will appreciate. Steel is okay, g10 sure is fine, pocket clips is where it lacks, but at least it is black! (better than shiny stainless steel)

This one has sneaked up into my top 5 I think, I know I can't credit Kershaw for the design, but I thank them for making it possible for me to buy an affordable Sinkavich Design

Didn’t expect much

My initial impression completely blew my expectation out of the water. The quality of this knife at this price seems unreal. Dimitry Sinkevich did a great job designing this one. The carbon fiber fits so well with the black G10. The straight edges on the back of the handle fall perfectly into the hand. Very ergonomically pleasing. The upswept blade slices very well. Needs some TLC

I picked one up a few days ago. Man, I like this design so much and the blade slices very well despite the cheaper steel. Benefit of this steel is that all I need is to strop it when it starts going dull and it's back on its feet with the crazy good slicing action. Super easy to sharpen.

Maybe this is just me but good grief the jimping on the flipper is real aggressive just… read more chews up my finger and despite loosening the pivot a bit I feel like it requires just a bit too much force on your finger to deploy the blade. Not sure if this is just on my knife or if maybe my hands are just more sensitive.

I addressed this by taking a Dremel to the flipper tab and just smoothing over the rough edges. I also disassembled and in the blade tang, there is a hole where a "nub" on the liner lock engages to keep the blade closed. Again used the Dremel and cut out a bit of a ramp/chamfer into the edge of the hole to make the action a bit easier to deploy.

I think its a good EDC cause its super light, carries well in the pocket, good ergos and this knife just looks good also. Would have given 4/5 if the whole jimping/action issue was not present, but again You might like the feel of it out of the box. If that's the case you won't be disappointed. Once I made my changes it has become one of my favs

Cool Design at a good price point

Everything about this blade is attractive, especially the nice grind angles. The only issues I have with this knife is that the flipper tab is a bit aggressive and chews up my finger after a few deployments.

Just WOW

Can't believe this beautiful knife came form kershaw's chinese factory. Ball bearings are unbelievably smooth and gives this knife better action than knives 5 times the price.

Best budget Kershaw

This is by far my favorite knife for around $30 it is so light and the perfect size for EDC. I wish Kershaw would make one in the USA line up and sell it for $60-70!

Hands down THE perfect budget knife

You really can't get any better than this for the money. G10 scales with a real carbon fiber inlay, it's not a sticker it's actually a part of the G10, a NON-ASSISTED flipper on bearings with a nice hollow grind. 8cr steel, as others have said, is a meh chinese steel though for $30 bucks what else do you want? For the price it's really fine. The action is great, deploys reliably… read more every time, push button or light switch it doesn't matter. Centering is dead on and it came plenty sharp. While 8cr is a budget steel, it will be very easy to sharpen and maintain. If you're new to the hobby this is a great training/learning knife, it's real quality and gives you a taste of what real knives can be, also it'll be easy to maintain and keep sharp. I know that for me personally when I first got into knives, it was SO frustrating not being able to keep my knives sharp. No matter what I did I could not get them sharp and it's very infuriating. You won't have this problem with 8cr. If you're a serious knife person this is a great user/loaner knife. Perfect backup knife as it's very light, use it for those dirty gritty tasks you don't want your more expensive knives to touch, and use it as a loaner so you don't have to hand out your higher quality pieces to people that know nothing about knives. If you lose it or it breaks you're out $30. It's well worth the money.

Good EDC

Size is great. Weight is none existant Its almost to light. I forget it's a knife in my hand . The Quality is Good for the price . On mine the detent was bad and it dropped open in pocket when I jump. It's a Great EDC once that issue was corrected.

No gripes budget blade

Budget blade with great design from Sinkevich. Yeah the blade steel is expendable, but the satin hollow grind is well done, as is the G10 scale and CF inlays. Not a bad flipper on KVT either. This is a no brainer for the price.

Patience required.

Excellent design, but like the other guy said, meh execution. The lock bar is painted or coated and it causes both lock stick and part of the gritty action (because the paint is gunking up the detent ball) this does wear away after awhile tho. But it will always feel slightly gritty because the bearings are rolling on the rough grinder finish of the blade tang (scrap your nails… read more on the flat part of the blade and you'll feel what the bearings are rolling on). It's a step in the right direction for import kershaw but not enough to compete with the best in the budget category from the likes of kizer/tangram, ruike, steel will etc. And yeah the scales sorta flex but you gotta squeeze a fair amount.

Great design, great value

I love Sinkevich designs, so when I saw one for 30 bucks I had to pick it up. All of the Sinkevich notes that I love, but the notes of a cheap Kershaw are also here. So it looks nice, is light in the hand, and has a nice blade shape, but it also has a gritty action, and contrary to the other guy the handles do have flex (all g10, liners are only on one side).

EDIT: after… read more a medium long break in the action has greatly improved, it still doesn't beat out my Ruike knives for value, but i do carry it often as a backup due to its light weight.

EDIT X2: This knife might be the best offering Kershaw has IMO, I gave mine to a "non-knife guy" friend and it converted him into a constant flipping nut. Now that I don't have one I find myself constantly looking at this in my wish list, I will probably buy another one pretty soon.

Awsome & Light

Awsome little knife. Tastefully done. So light you don't feel it in pocket. Deploys fast. Because the carbon fiber inlays are molded in the g10, they actually make the scales very strong. You can't squeeze them together.
