About Kizer Conaway Deviant Liner Lock Knife White G-10 / Black Micarta (3" Black)

The Deviant is another collaboration with Chris Conaway at SheepdogKnives. Just like the Sheepdog C01C, the Deviant has excellent user Ergonomics and great cleaver/sheepsfoot blade shape. On the other hand, this knife has more of a classy, gentleman's knife vibe with it's two tone handle and bolster design. This MODel sports a white G-10 bolster with black micarta handle scales. Dual thumb studs provide smooth ambidextrous deployment while riding on a ball bearing system. The blade is made of Bohler M390 stainless steel in a black finish.

Fantastic Value

Pros: The micarta provides enough grip but not so much that it will tear up your pockets. Extremely attractive. Razor-sharp out of the box. Fairly light. Feels like a premium knife in the hand. Occupies minimal pocket real estate. Impeccable fit and finish. The clip is slim and unobtrusive, yet sturdy. Fits my size large hand well - I can get all 4 fingers on the handle easily. read more

Cons: the lockup is a bit tight out of the box, but has broken in a little over two days and should continue to do so. Some jimping on the top of the blade would enhance purchase, but on the other hand, the absence of jimping contributes to the sleek look of the knife.

Verdict: if you are looking for a really handsome gentleman's knife that can still get work done combined with premium materials at a super price point, this is for you.

Great materials, But not my favorite

This is a very classy-looking knife and it has the materials to back up the $150 price (m390, very nice G10 and micarta). The blade also is great for cutting and iv had no problems using it for my EDC. However, the tapered handle makes holding this knife a little awkward. It has enough room for a 4 finger grip (I have average size hands) but there is a gap between my pinky finger read more and the handle which isn't reassuring. Something like the QSP penguin, which has a similar handle length, does a much better job of giving me a solid purchase on the knife. Overall, it cuts nice, looks very nice, but isn't the best ergonomiclly.
