First Italian Knife....A Bit Underwhelmed
I really wanted to love this knife. The designer's work is amazing, and I've heard great things about MKM's fit and finish, so when the Timavo went on sale I snapped one up. Here's a brief summary of my thoughts.
Pros:
-great fit and finish
-excellent blade in terms of material, grind, and performance
-a big fan of the wire clip
-crowned spine and choil area are…

pleasant to hold.
Cons:
-Action....had a detent so weak, I'd say two out of three flips the blade won't deploy.
-Poor ergonomics (XL sized hands, long skinny fingers)
-When closed the tip of the blade protrudes enough to get caught on things. Kind of dangerous....
Overall I'm disappointment that a knife so well finished had two flaws that even budget brand knives consistently avoid. Namely, the poor action/deployment, and the dangerously protruding blade tip. That sort of discontinuity just makes no sense to me.
(Four months later: The action has smoothed out a lot. Now the flipper has become fairly reliable. Much better than initially. I'm adding a star to my review)
