Not terribly pleased
Everything about this knife is pretty much what I expected, with the exception of the single most important thing when it comes to safely using a folding knife - the lock refuses to engage, enabling the blade to close with the slightest of pressure. It looks like its just a matter of this particular knife suffering from a poor build and even worse quality control from Ontario Knife.… read more NOT a good first impression from what I had assumed was a quality brand.
Pretty good little needle
Ill start with the gripes. This knife has some minor f&f issues out of the box. #1 (and this seems to be typical from the web feedback I've come across) The blade centering was not good. The steel had an affinity for the titanium scale, bud adjusting the pivot cleared that up. Which brings me to the next thing. This knifes pivot is free spinning, but if you have a little bit of…

experience with folders, it won't be a deal-breaker. The overall crispness of the flipper tab coupled with the strong detent can and probably will make your finger sore if you fidget with this knife. Ok, the good. Obviously great materials. Micarta is nice and soft, titanium is of course rockin. You won't find this combo on any other production folders at this price; not even close. That makes this knife special and an excellent value. The action is pretty smooth, not mind-blowing, but not bad at all. The weight is a thing of beauty, along with the aesthetics. While the steel is certainly not premium, it's very easy to maintain since this knife shan't be used for high-impact tasks, it won't pose a problem. The tip on the Shikra is going to pierce and glide through the material, making this a fine last-ditch defense tool, as well as a general edc user. Does the good outweigh the bad for me personally? Certainly. There's a lot to enjoy here, and it's a fine addition to my rotation that will surely see some pocket time. Happy blade hunting.
Edit: About 6 weeks after receiving this knife, I started to have issues with the lock-up. Shortly after that, the knife had a major failure when the detent ball fell out, and I cut my finger badly. I don't like to go to the hospital, but it would have required stitches. I use superglue. I returned the knife. Honestly, I have considered trying it again, as I did like it, but I am hesitant because my experience with Ontario as a whole has not been good, and there are a lot of good knives out there.
Nearly Perfect
This knife offers a ton of bang for your buck. The titanium frame lock is unheard of at this price, and the micarta on the other side is so nice, it’s made me want micarta on everything.
The blade comes really sharp and pokey out of the box. This has been my go-to for really precise cuts. It’s also the lightest knife I own, making it a great carry.

AUS 8 blade will hold up over time, but a couple months in, it’s still super sharp and useful.
My only minor complaints are that the flipper tab is a little sharp. It’s not a huge detriment, but I can envision it being annoying to open in the winter if my hands are cold and sensitive. It’s also not as smooth and satisfying to open as my Kizer or Artisan Cutlery knives.
I also would like to see other colors of blade or handle, or both. The black blade is cool, but the color, matched with the aggressive blade shape makes it look more tactical than I really like. I’m wondering if a stonewashed grey could subdue it and make it look a little less angry-looking.
Overall, this is my favorite budget knife. It’s super useful, and great for EDC.
Stunning little knife...
The Shikra is a very unique and, IMHO, a visually stunning knife. I love the micarta and titanium combo. The downsides for me: kinda' snug initial detent and a burdensome pocket clip -- the clip is a bit tall and interferes with how you handle the knife. Unfortunately, not exactly what I'm looking for, so back to Blade HQ.
Light weight and sharp
Very sharp, light weight and looks great. Very fair priced. hides in the pocket nicely. Micarta looks and feels good. Fits in the hand nicely with very little slippage. Also with nice jimping on back of blade. destined to be one of my favorites.
