About QSP Penguin Liner Lock Knife Green Micarta (3.12" Satin D2)

The QSP Penguin is probably the best EDC knife you can get for the money. The blade is made of D2 tool steel, and has a sheepsfoot blade shape with a straight edge. The handle is made of micarta that will patina over time, making each knife unique to its user. The deep carry pocket clip loops over and screws in behind the scale, making the knife slide in and out of pockets easily. The Penguin opens using the dual thumb studs and the copper washers.

Great knife

Just a great knife for the money. In fact, ‘for the money’ isn’t really even a necessary part of that statement. It’s a great knife, period. Centered, smooth action, sharp blade, really enjoy the blade shape for every day tasks. D2 is certainly a fine steel for any tasks it’s presented with, and will stay that way with very basic blade maintenance. You will not be upset read more with this purchase.

Very smooth

I really like this knife. The action is super smooth, flips out nice and closes even nicer. I would buy this again for sure. I kinda have my eye on the new brown linen version. I carry this every day at work on the jobsite. With the low cost of this knife,
i'm not afraid to get it dirty and beat up doing construction tasks with this in my pocket. Buy one, it's good.

Buttery smooth

This is one of the out the box sharpest, most buttery smooth knives I've ever bought. The materials for the price is hard to beat. Equal to the elementum IMO, but a better price. Super impressed. The ONLY complaint is the centering came slightly off but it's not a big deal at all.

The best 30 bucks I've ever spent on a knife. Perfect.

Awesome budget knife

I love this knife. I am a lefty and like that the pocket clip is reversible. Smooth action and a nice 3 finger grip, nearly 4, for my large hands. A must buy purchase if looking for a good knife on a budget.

Perfect carry size

It feels amazingly good in the hand, micarta won’t slip when wet and it comes hair popping sharp right out of the box. The fact that the blade is D2 is just gravy. Would suggest this knife to anyone.

Great for the price

The build is very solid and flips smoothly. The micarta has a really nice texture - it's fairly smooth but won't slip in your hands. The liner lock is very solid and doesn't have any give when pushing back the blade. Overall, the knife is a really great value for its build quality.

Great Knife Great Price

This knife not only fits well in larger hands but flips opens with ease. Sporting a D2 blade with Micarta scales this knife comes in under $30 dollars and is a great addition to my ever growing collection. I highly advise if you are looking at stepping into the D2 blade or Micarta world this knife is one of the best for the buck. Thank you Blade HQ for making it easy to get my hands read more on such quality knives!

Great Knife, Great Value

Love the knife! I am a lefty and like the dual thumbstuds, the action is very smooth and easy to open with just my left hand. The micarta has great feel and looks very good. The blade came extremly sharp and I like the D2 steel. The sheepsfoot blade is a nice design.

Insane value

I am so glad I ordered this. The action, QC and materials are way above the asking price. Mine took 2 days to fully break in. It's now my new favorite EDC

Fantastic Budget Knife

I must say, I am VERY impressed with this knife.

The Good:
Great centering & more importantly to me - action. It sits on Phosphor bronze washers. The ball detent is just right.

It has a nice deep carry pocket clip. The screw heads aren't inset, but they are rounded.

Fantastic grind lines. It was ground beautifully. One of the best grinds I've ever seen read more on a standard knife.

Not too heavy, not too light.

Good for both left hand as well as right, as the thumbstuds stick out enough on both sides for easy access (not as common as you might think with so many knives using cut outs). Good thumbstuds that aren't too aggressive, but still allow for lighting deployment.

Generally it looks very good.

The Bad:
Micarta scales are VERY smooth, I prefer slightly textured micartas. No biggie though.

There are slight gaps between the scales and the liners. Barely noticeable though.

Wrapping it up:
For $30 dollars, this knife is a STEAL. Absolutely solid bargain. Honestly it would still be worth it at $60. I have some familiarity with the knife industry, I honestly wonder how low their margins are on this sucker so they can get their name out there - because this thing is amazing for the price. I am blown away.

It's very good, but ...

... it certainly doesn't zip open for me unless I position my thumb dangerously close to the edge. The "nudge" direction just isn't right, at least for my large hand. The liner lock doesn't seem all that robust, either. Still, the materials seem excellent, especially for a sub-$30 knife, and the edge is ground very well. Lightweight but solid, balanced feel. If there were a flipper read more quillion it would be perfect.

Best $32 Knife around

Slim in the pocket, a blade shape that seems to be good for everything, and flicks open in a flash. Bought these to give away, but I'm keeping at least one. I guess I'll have to get a few more before they are gone. Couldn't be happier for a knock-around EDC.

For the money this is a phenomenal knife. Great value with surprising good fit and finish that fits well in my cadet size 10 glove hands.

I have had it try to open from my pocket when retrieving it while sitting, but have resolved the issue making sure my thumb is on the blade. The deep carry clip is nice and the weight is perfect for EDC.

I'm a sucker for a nice bargain!

Great and so affordable

I love this knife. The action is great. Very fidget friendly. Micarta feels good in hand. Nice deep carry clip. It even makes opening mail better. At least until I see its another bill. I told a friend to buy one too and he loves it as well. Can't beat that price either.
