And WHAT About Chinese knives?
As an owner of Chinese made knives I have long been aware they make knives on par with anything on this side of the Pacific! Chinese made MT clones can be so well executed one cannot tell them from a domestic production without opening the chassis! So I wasn't at all concerned about what sort of knife this one would be, but then, it arrived and I discovered the 801 is amazingly…

well built, executed, and beautifully appointed!
Blade action is instant using the flipper button, and effortless as it rotates on ball bearings! The framelock design works perfectly. There are no edges or hard points on the knife, just a beautifully rendered, stainless steel utility knife with quite tasteful, blue accents!
A steal at $30
From the moment of the unboxing through weeks of EDC experience, this knife feels like it should cost a minimum of $75. Solid lockup, butter-smooth action, ultra slim profile and minimalist deep carry clip. Uncompromising performance wrapped in gorgeous aesthetics. Zero fit and finish issues. If they can maintain this level of quality control, this is the highest value knife on… read more the market today.
Are You Kidding Me? ~$30
Like other enthusiasts, you hear about knives like this when watching youtube reviews and say, "What! $30?"
Pros: butter smooth action, perfectly centered, gorgeous blue anodized accents, nice blade and decent stainless 14C28N steel, price
Cons: verrrry slippery in the hands - I disassembled mine to put a gentle 1000 grit sandpaper texture on the scales and it's much better,…

it is heavy slabs of steel (but not too heavy), nonsensical pronunciation (sounds like RAKE, huh?)
Overall: This competes with CJRB models for budget knife of the century. What a great value and sharp looker. Good to keep a few on hand to give away as a knife ambassador.
Expectations exceeded!
Wow! This knife is incredible for the money. The fit and finish of it is simply outstanding, easily on par or better than many "mid priced" EDC options we are familiar with. If you were to hand me this knife without prior knowledge, I would say it was at least $100. The steel construction gives it a nice dense feeling, the lockup and action is great, it has a nice deep carry clip… read more on it, beautiful blue accents on the clip, pivot, and thumbstuds. Great knife!
I bought it because it was cheap and I thought it would make a good beater knife, but when it showed up at my door, I was very impressed. Razor sharp with an easy flipping action, this knife is a great value! I highly recommend it!
Buttery smooth for $30
Love the all stainless construction, action has a unique hydraulic smoothness to it. Not quite "drop-shutty" but a great overall fit and finish. Recommendation: YES!
Really Great
I like this knife a lot for all the right reasons. Ergonomics, overall design and style are EXCELLENT! This knife looks like it should be much more expensive.
On the the knife I received, the frame lock is a bit harder than I'd like to disengage. Every now and then I also get a small audible metal on metal squeak.
Also the thumb tabs seems to be more of a aesthetic…

feature. The look really cool with the blue accent but functionality wise not so great.
On the other hand the flipper feels and works awesome and this knife fires GREAT.
Overall for the price this knife is outstanding and I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great budget EDC
Great Product
With a thin steel handle this sometimes feels like it might slip out of your hand but it doesn't take long to get used to it. Very sharp out of the box, I love the design, and for the price it's just too good to pass up.
Very good Chinese budget knife.
This knife is cheap, classy, and (for the price) quality. I have only carried it for a few days so far, but it came decently sharp, with good action. It could use a little sharpening and knife oil, but I would highly recommend this knaf.
Great for the Price
The action and aesthetics of this budget friendly knife are awesome, one of the best budget blades I own.
Excellent Knife
I own over 400 knives, some made in USA. The quality of this knife, even though made in China, is better than some made here. Excellent quality, lockup and even looks.
The screws like to come loose
I've had this knife for less than a year and so far have had to tighten the screws for the blade multiple times and just recently lost one screw on the belt clip which is always coming loose and useless now. I liked this knife just fine before these issues began but I guess when you spend $30 on a Chinese knife, you get what you pay for.
Amazing!
Very nice knife! Blade centering is spot on. Ergos are good. The only complaint is the flipper is a little pointy. Flipping this open repeatedly hurts a bit. Other than that, this is a great knife at a very affordable price!
High quality and versatile
I like my P801 a lot. The action and lockup are perfect. The machining on all edges of the frame is flawless. It is very thin and light for its size. The blade sharpens easily and hasn't rusted or stained on me yet. The frame is stupid smooth, which is great for EDC but could be a problem for frequent hard use. I took it hiking and camping for a week, using it for food prep and… read more to baton firewood, and it worked like a champ. (Although I advise against using a folding knife to baton wood in general.) I've had it for about a month total, and the blue is starting to wear, but I don't mind. For my EDC, the blade is a little long; I'd prefer a 3" blade and 4" handle. Overall, it feels like an expensive knife that is built for heavy duty yet carries like a much smaller knife.
Great knife for a steal
Like some of the other reviews have stated this knife definitely has the feel of a knife that costs 2-3x more than I paid for it. I would buy this knife 5 times over again.
Best knife I've bought.
This knife is probably the best thing I've bought in a very long time. Rock solid construction and function. Razor sharp with a swift deployment and a supremely satisfying click when it locks-up. Zero complaints, and no conditional phrases needed for this review.
Best budget knife
As all the other reviews have said this knife is simply great. The value from the blade steel to the fit and finish, this knife is a cut above the rest. You can't go wrong with this knife.
Punches way above it's weight
I can't really add anything to what the other reviewers have said.
This is simply a great knife.
Buy it, you will not be disappointed.
I'm pleasantly surprised
After seeing quite a few good reviews and videos on this P801 by Ruike, I had to try it out. Fits great in my hands. Took it apart, and removed what looked like silicone grease on the pivot. Cleaned it up real good, added some KPL pivot lube and some oil to the detent path, and on the bearing, and boy does this thing really flip great now. Blade is hair shaving sharp. I use it a… read more lot on cardboard boxes, and it performs fine. Price point is spot on for this EDC.
I just can't believe how good it is!
I've got knives that costed hundreds of dollars and this $30 Ruike is my new favorite. It's well made, with good materials, has an instant deployment and rock solid lock-up, a dead center blade, and just a wonderful slim feel in the hand. Just buy it and enjoy!
A Surprise to be sure, but a Welcome One
I got this knife as a gift from a buddy who knows I'm a collector. I kinda turned my nose up at it at first. I didn't know much about Ruike and I just assumed they were cheap Chinese junk knives. I took it out of the box and flipped it once and found out I was very wrong. The P801 is a very nice knife for the money. I'd go as far as to say it's even better than an Ontario Rat for… read more a budget blade. The steel is slightly better than what you would find on other knives the same price. Fit and Finish is especially good, with a nice stonewash and anodized blue elements. Pocket clip sits nice and deep. For a 30 dollar knife it flips and locks up shockingly well. The knife looks so nice that I left it out once and my Dad mistook it for a Zero Tolerance knife. Honestly it kind of makes me question if something like a ZT 0450 was really worth the price disparity. This is one of those knives where I can say, if you have anything more expensive, you're kind of just showing off. Can't recommend it enough.
Ruike is fast becoming my favorite knives!
This is my second Ruike and now
I'm convinced I need them all. First the price is ridiculously low for the happiness these bring. Fit and finish are top tier. It starts with the packaging. I love the blue accents mixed with the shiny stainless. I wished Ruike added the same blue bits to the black P801, that would really be cool. But I'm gonna buy it anyway.

anywhere in the assembly. It flips out super easy and locks up tight with either of my hands and I have bad arthritis. I'm able to flip it open and close it single handedly. I admit it is smooth and could be slippery in some situations but I dig the way it looks and there are dozens of other knives with similar smooth features that I can live with the P801 with no worries.
I'm stoked Ruike provides such an awesome bang for the buck. I can afford a $200 knife every other month but at these prices I'm thrilled to be able to buy a Ruike once a week. 👍😀
Great budget knife
This knife is a steal for $29 only complaint is the blade kept getting blade play but i put some lock tight on it and it’s fixed
Solid little knife
I love this company and they put out a great high quality product. This knife has a tight lockup, solid construction and the blade centering is perfect. I don't really have any complaints and for $30 it's a great deal as well.
Excellent knife but slippery handle
It's a really great knife in terms of quality: mirror polished edge, perfect centering, flips easily and locks solid. The clip is fantastic, very deep and secure in the pocket while still very comfortable in the hand.
Unfortunately it has a slippery handle, the shape is nice and feels comfortable but the handle surface is just too smooth and there's not enough texturing cuts…

to compensate.
It's excellent for everyday use but not suitable for hard use or activities near water.
Great Value
This knife has a lot going for it. Nice steel, very good slicer, slim and comfortable, deep pocket carry, solid build, and it flips out like an auto blade. Love the silver and blue. Definitely has the look of a sebenza but without the price. Keeping this knife in my weekly rotation.
Great knife
I love everything about this knife, except the one I got was assembled with RED loctite on what appeared to be all of the screws. Definitely had some on the pivot screws, and I had to bring the pivot up to 500 degrees in my oven to remove one pivot screw. The rest of the screws were able to move without heat, but my gosh, they were a bear to get out. Was using a brand new Wiha torx… read more driver set for disassembly, so the tools were not the problem. If you don't plan on taking the knife apart, this will not be a problem for you. However RED loctite should never be used on knives, because it's really not necessary, and I have no idea why some manufacturers use the stuff. I'm just happy, I was able to get the knife apart without damaging any of the hardware. Besides that, I absolutely love this knife. Perfect blade centering, and high quality. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.
Best $30 knife, other statements invalid
Alright maybe that's hyperbolic but I've been carrying this for about five months and with the most basic maintenance (no offense two month review guy) this is absolutely the best knife you're going to get for fifty bucks.
Er, I mean forty.
... Thirty.
Or fifty.
Best knife for the $$
I think you would be hard-pressed to find a better knife at this price point. Construction is solid and the ball bearings give it a smooth flipping action. Great EDC blade and if you lose it, your not going to cry yourself to sleep.
I'm an outlier.
Maybe I got a dud, but to me the lockup feels cheap, and blade is either off-center or unflippable. The P108 feels like a much higher quality knife than this model.
Thirty Dollars for Pure Bliss
This knife is stunning for the price point. 14c28n steel, puts other knives at this price to shame, far better than 8cr13mov.
The thumb studs can be made usable, if you bend the liner lock a bit. But I wouldn't recommend this, as it might not lock up properly after (might not stay open). But, after doing this, I can use the thumb studs easily, and the knife falls shut, which…

is pretty cool.
It even comes in a nice secure box - no bubble wrap.
The edge has a slight cloudy mirror to it, polished, and amazing. The factory edge...is polished. I can't believe it. I am slicing "S" shapes through paper easily. I cannot say enough good things about the factory edge. The bevel is nice and even, just great.
Awesome Sauce
Great EDC knife, holds a great edge, smooth to open and close, just get it!
2 Month Review - Some problems over time but buy it if youre even thinking of doing so
Over all review for you lazy people that dont like to read a lot (more in depth review with problems over the weeks further below)
Amazing centering on the blade out of the box but not for long (read below for more info), easy to sharpen, decently sharp out of the box. not hair shaving sharp but skin flaking sharp. FLIPPER is amazingggg! after around 50-100 flips it'll come…

out like its nothing.. just sit there at first and play around with the flipper before carrying it around i'd say. THUMB STUDS are basically useless to have because 1. flipper is great and 2. The preasure needed to use the thumb studs hurts my thumb, and i have yet to succesfully open it using the studs.
So I work at a tire shop and use knives daily to open up boxes and cut off tape holding orders to the tires and all that jazz.
1st/2nd Week:
Caught the beautiful blue pocket clip on the shop door frame and it snapped so bye bye easilly pulling it out of the pocket.. (the blue will grow on you so if you dont like it give it time)
3rd Week:
A LOT of blade play/movement from side to side. Up and down is completely fine.
4th week or so:
The blade now scrapes against the sides of knife where as out of the box was amazingly centered.
Another Great Knife From China!
I wasn't familiar with the Ruike brand, but after reading reviews on the P801, and having acquired knives from other China manufacturers such as Kizer and Real Steel, I decided to checkout Ruike by getting the P801. I was pleasantly surprised by how well made it was, and the smoothness of the flipper action. It's a frame lock with a nice, solid lock-up. The handles are all stainless… read more steel so it's not a lightweight, but certainly not too heavy at a little over 4 ounces. I like the blue accents on the the thumb studs and the pocket clip, it adds a nice touch to a great inexpensive knife. I'm sure I'll be checking out other Ruike's in the future.
Excellent Gents Knife
Clean simple design for dress up.
Easy open, nicely made knife at an excellent price.
Great budget knife!
Sweet budget beater! This knife is crazy smooth for 30 bucks. Like its pm2 smooth. The ergos are great. The blade comes hair popping sharp. The stonewash is pretty decent slightly inconsistent in spots but if you carry it and beat on it like a 30 dollar knife should be used it'll fade. Lockup is solid as a rock. The clip is deep but is kinda shiney. Only thing I'm not crazy about… read more would be the flipper tab and maybe the weight. It's not bad but not great. Can be hard to get ahold of the flipper at times. The detent is good to go though.
My New Favorite EDC
This knife is hands down the best budget knife you can buy. The fit and finish of this knife is very surprisingly good. Mine came with a shaving sharp edge on it. I would recommend this knife to anyone.
One of the Best Knives of 2017
Good steel, good action, good clip, nice aesthetics, good ergon omits and a $30 price tag = Home Freaking Run!!! This knife is great and it can do it all.
Quite possibly my favorite
I've been carrying/using this knife for the past 2 weeks and I think it's my favorite knife I've owned, regardless of price.
The Pros:
- The pocket clip is near perfection. Very deep carry, doesn't get hung up. Also, the blue color makes the knife almost invisible to others if you're wearing blue jeans.
- The action is great. Took a couple days to really break in, but…

the bearings are smooth and it's seriously fun to deploy.
- The blade centering is very nice. Not perfectly centered, but probably 95% there, which is more than I can say for any Benchmade I've owned.
- Fit and finish is great. I can't find a flaw. Stone wash looks fantastic.
- Detent is very strong. No chance of this deploying accidentally.
- The blade! Came very sharp, and it's full flat ground, which I love.
- The packaging is top notch. Nice box with laser cut foam. I received this knife and a $490 balisong in the same order, and the packaging for the Ruike blew the expensive one out of the water. Wasn't even in the same universe.
- I think it's a very handsome knife. That's an opinion though.
The cons:
- My biggest complaint would be the weight, but that's just because it's steel. If it ever gets released in titanium...oh boy, take my money.
- Mine had some pretty nasty lock stick for a day or two. Not when I first got it, but 2 days later it became extremely difficult to move the lock out of the way. I was prepared to give up on the knife it was so bad, but after another day of opening and closing it, the lock stick is gone.
- The bearings make a slight "creaking" noise if you close the blade slowly. I'm going to disassemble mine to clean/lubricate the bearings to see if that helps. Nitpicking here.
- The thumb studs are useless. Try as hard as I can, I can't get the blade to deploy with the thumb studs. The detent is just too strong for that. I've handed the knife to some friends (not really knife people) and they instinctively try to deploy the blade with the studs. Then I tell them you have to use the flipper. Again, just nitpicking. The detent is great for flipping.
Just buy the thing. Would make a great gift item too. It easily feels like a 100 - 200 dollar knife, and you can actually feel good about using it because it's so inexpensive.
WTF
I am a collector and I modify knives myself... scales, blade etching, etc. I can’t believe I got this knife for 30 bucks! I just bought a Kershaw RJ Martin Design for 40.00. The Ruike has a grade better steel. In fact all the parts are better and the build quality is as good or better for 10 dollars less!
This knife is as good as some 100.00 knives.
Excellent!
It's hard to believe how low cost this knife is compared to what you get. Razor sharp out of the box. No flaws. Perfect EDC.
Great workhorse!
I've had this for a day now, and the fit and finish are superb. The lock has a slight Gayle Bradley feel to it, so closing it can wear your thumb out after flicking it a good amount. No blade play whatsoever, lockup is nice and solid. Knife came sharp, but a few strokes on the Sharpmaker made it hair whittling sharp. Ergonomics are fantastic, it feels really nice in the hand. For… read more 30 bucks, this will the Christmas gift to give my loved ones. Will be definitely be checking out the other stuff by Ruike in the future.
