The best OTF for under $50
You can operate with just one hand. It takes practice. At first I was using two hands but I knew there had to be a better way so I practiced for a whole day and I got it. Once its broken in, the knife is smooth. Also, take the time to oil it regularly with machine oil, not WD-40, and use a dust blower can to rid of debris.
I was so excited, but.....
I got this after watching video after video. When I finally got it the tip broke right off. I was so pissed. Luckily Blade HQ resolved my issue. And before it's said, I know. You get what you pay for sometimes. Lesson learned. Blade HQ is great!

Man a awesome deal,i highly recommend these guys.quality and affordibity.super fast,sharp knive.
Value
Good Knife for the price. Couldn't bring myself to lay out $400 for a CRKT or a Microtech. This is a good value and deploys nicely. Expect a big knife if you order, it has a nice presence as an EDC. Bonus: window breaker for emergencies.
Pretty Good, Not Perfect
This is a good knife for the money. The spring-assisted mechanism works very nicely to eject the blade with little effort. The safety mechanism is located in a position that makes it hard to manipulate, and it's stiff. It seems that you need to push the release mechanism for retracting the blade just right or it doesn't release. The slide for retracting the blade is a bit challenging… read more to manipulate at first, but one gets used to it. The knife arrived reasonably sharp. Fit and finish also is good.
An Inexpensive Introduction, With Some Drawbacks
This is my first OTF knife, so I'm no expert. Just an enthusiast wanting an introduction. I was attracted to the look and feel of it (which in person does not disappoint!), and reviews which said it was mechanically solid, which it very much is - opens aggressively and locks like a rock. Wonderful. I find it a bit heavy and bulky, but to a degree that is sort of a plus for what…

it is. More "substantial" than "clumsy".
I wish it were double action, or at least that it were easier to close. Retracting the blade is difficult enough that it requires two hands and can't be accomplished easily and quickly. The safety is located in a spot that makes one handed operation clumsy and complicated - that seems like a design oversight. I'm not crazy about the blade itself - could be sharper, could have edges that are more consistently shaped - but it's certainly adequate for what it is.
All in all, I'd say this knife really owns what it is and is a reasonable value proposition, but does have some quirks and drawbacks. Darn if it doesn't make me grin every time I touch it, though.
Hard to beat this cheap OTF
After a lot of research I decided this cheap OTF would be worth a shot. I don't like the "wiggle" with most OTF blades so this was what I was looking for. The blade lock is perfect, zero wiggle from the blade. I have big hands and can retract the blade one handed no problem. It is a little bulky, but the blade is super sharp and again for the price this is a really good deal. Thanks… read more to Blade HQ for the great reviews and insight.
A great first OTF
This is my first OTF knife and I think it's a good introduction to the type. It feels good and solid,if anything it's a bit on the heavy side. I wish it auto-retracted, but I knew when I ordered that it didn't.
I find it very addicting ... "Sssnick" over & over. I'm mostly crippled (I'm so old I don't know the PC word I'm supposed to use LOL), and I think it's good excercise…

for my hand to operate the lock & retract spring thingy. Maybe you can sell it as a physical therapy tool?
I hope it stays sharp. I just use it as a letter opener.
Anyway I think it's great & am glad I got it. It arrived quickly, etc. So I'm happy with the knife & also with BladeHQ.
Nice for the Price
This is a nice OTF knife at a good price. I am impressed with the quality, has a good solid feel. OTF mechanism works well. Blade seems to sharpen pretty well, but don't know yet how it will hold an edge.
Perfect for the price
The safety could definitely be in a better spot, but other than that it is amazing for the price. After handling it for a couple of days I can work all the movements with one hand.... Granted, I do have some big sandwich claps (hands).
Not very good
Sort of sloppy and bulky. The assisted retracting somewhat makes it being an otf useless. You need two hands to retract it and the retracting feels cheap. I wouldn't buy this again. $40 I should have gotten another skyline.
Top Notch OTF
This knife is a must have item for individuals looking for a OTF on a budget. Strong and fast blade deployment and very little blade play dosent wiggle side to side when deployed. Great contoured grip and very stout weight...Overall terrific product.. Love mine and I will buy another in the near future. S&W keep up the good work.
Great OTF Knife
Very solid knife, fast deployment, good lock up, beautiful design, good grip. Works well for us lefties.
Only negative is it's not really a one handed knife. You must put the safety on when carrying it in your pocket, and to pull it out, click off the safety and deploy the blade takes two hands; same with releasing and retracting the blade.
Its still a great knife…

which I carry every day.
Only one complaint
I have owned several auto assist knives from S&W. I love them all. As the other reviews state, it looks totally cool, fast deployment and has a great feel in the hand. It is very difficult to retract the blade because of the strength of the spring...which is good for opening, a bit clumsy for closing. The one complaint I have is...unlike the other auto knives by S&W, which have… read more the safety switch in an ergonomic position, which can be switched with your thumb, this one is at the bottom of the knife, and is not convenient if you need to use it quickly. Otherwise, I love the knife.
Love it
I got one of these in place of a more expensive one. I enjoy the size and function. It is not fully automatic, you have to retract the blade before.
Awesome for the price. Contemplated getting one in every style blade. Currently own the spear point.
Love the look.
Legal to own for us civilian types. Had to have it. Dont know why. But who cares. Its America. Just a bit too heavy for consistent edc.
Impressive Knife
This knife happens to be one of the best knives i now own,it really is a quality piece to have,

Excellent knife
S&W makes a great, strong knife every now and then. This is one of them. Solid lock up and smooth, fast deployment.
