Good price, good knife
Aight, I bought this not expecting much and it delivered. The D2 steel is a great addition given the price and the lock is stiff and solid. When the knife is opened using any of the three methods (XR lock, flipper, studs) it opens with authority and locks with a satisfying click. The ball bearings are a nice edition and give the knife a super slick, fall shut action. And the blade… read more lockup is rock solid, no play or wiggle and it is centered. The g10 is grippy but not too aggressive. The blade shape is very useful and the liners are thick, giving me confidence in its construction. Excellent knife and worth the money.
First Impression
First off have to praise Blade HQ. Ordered this on Sun 11/29 almost at midnight and it arrived midday Wed 12/2, fantastic!
This is my second SOG. The first was a flash II which has been in the glove compartment of my car for years. Never had a problem with it and still works like new.
Saw these new SOG’s with the xr lock and decided to give it a try. Glad I did.

one is a bit beefier than the flash II and it fills my hand nicely, & is solid feeling. It is definitely more aggressive looking and feeling. I like that the only logos are a tiny SOG on the clip and blade itself ( I might even black out the SOG on the clip ). Scales are good and grippy without being too abrasive and there’s even some subtle jimping in different places for various types of grips. The xr lock is perfectly positioned and you don’t have to move your hand to use it. Blade action is great and can be opened with flipper, thumb studs, and with releasing the xr lock and a simple wrist flick.
Blade perfectly centered and has a nice large belly. To say that it came razor sharp is an understatement.
The only fault I can find so far is that there is a tiny sharp edge at the cut out for the opposite side belt clip position; but it can only really be felt if you are rubbing your finger tip over it intentionally. Not nearly enough to decrease the overall rating.
All in all I’m very satisfied with both the knife and Blade HQ
