Bought this little guy back in 2015 and it is still one of my favorites. Spyderco did an excellent job designing this line and I've bought all of it's big brothers since! Love the blade and handle shape. It fits the hand well despite being small. Blade holds a sharp edge for quite a while. Only had to sharpen it a few times! Solid lock up and easy to deploy with the large Spyderco read more O. Great knife!

Great little knife

I carried this knife for just over two years before deciding to upgrade to the Para 2. I still carry this knife when I’m not able to carry a bigger blade, like on the rare occasion I wear a suit or dress pants. This little knife never let me down, great inexpensive carry knife that keeps an edge well. Well worth the money.

How To Be Ambitious

Follow in the footsteps of your famous sibling, but don't be overly Tenacious or people won't take you seriously. Borrow his smooth G10 scales, polish your grinds to the same smart finish, even steal his pivot screws if you must, but don't be afraid to follow a slightly more diminutive pattern. Be your own accessory.

Be tough for your size; punch above your weight. You won't read more worry about wearing a few extra ounces as long as underneath you're all business and bronze washers. Tilt your handle-to-blade ratio as far to aft as you can—everyone thinks that handle size matters most—but skeletonize your liners for a little hidden class. Place your clip to please all preferences; you never know where a pocket may take you.

Even if your bevels are a bit uneven, keep your grind full and your edge keen. If your mettle is ever mentioned to be a mite soft, position yourself beside the working man who knows what it means to keep you in shape. Show them how sharp you can be in a snap with simple stropping, and never let a man-made abrasive keep you from coming back more incisive than ever.

If you're not shaped so ergonomically as some or others call you a hot-spot, show those long-bladed, out-of-towners you're made as much for the big city as for the country—they'll still be stuck in customs while you've got the run of the town. Tip your hat to the law and then get to work; don't go picking fights you can easily avoid.

In short, don't let Non-Domestic Origin or slightness of stature keep you from greatness. Be all things to all men that you might by some means serve some of them. If you can keep your edge when all about you are losing theirs, you'll earn a place as the sidekick of Johnny Chicago and Bobby Baltimore—and what's more, you'll be a Spyderco my son.

I really didn’t like Byrd knives because I really dislike the deployment hole. I think Spyderco really knocked it out of the park when they started making value knives under the Spyderco name rather than under the Byrd brand name.

This knife is a great value knife! Need a beater knife but want something visually similar to other Spyderco knives? This knife has you covered. read more The Ambitious fits the tiny size in this line of knives (it’s siblings being the Resilience, Tenacious, and Persistence).

Nice Entry-level Spyderco

I'm a relative newcomer to knives. When I was looking for my first EDC knife, I remembered my brother in law mentioning Spyderco. He's a police officer who's seen quite a bit of action, so I took his words seriously and made my first knife purchase the Spyderco Ambitious.

Why the Ambitious? First of all, it was priced right. It would give me a taste of Spyderco without breaking read more the bank. Second, I wanted a knife with a stout blade, and Ambitious has a stout little blade that works well for my everyday tasks of breaking down boxes and slicing up fruit and vegetables for lunch and snacks. Third, it isn't too big.

What would I change? The clip could be a little deeper carry, so it would completely disappear in my pocket. The blade isn't the easiest for me to open one handed. I might just need to lubricate the pivot point a bit, or it might be because I've got fairly small hands for a guy.

This is one I'll keep in my rotation but won't be my main EDC knife because it doesn't disappear in my pocket as well as some of my other knives.

Good EDC

Awesome little EDC to open letters, boxes and whatever else. Mostly restricted to light tasks because it is a smaller blade.
Over all an awesome little folder

I live on campus at a University and I always like having a knife. Both for practical use and because I like collecting. However as move in approached I knew none of my current folders were within a length requirement that would not get me in trouble if found. I did not expect anything would happen but just in case ( and as an excuse to get another knife) I bought this knife. It read more is my first Spyderco and I love it. I did not want to spend too much so I am fine with the 8cr13MOV steel, it is also no problem because I do not give it hard use. I will definitely come back for more when I get more spare money Spyderco.

This knife was my first foray into "better" knives. Before I bought this I had several cheapo knives. I like this blade and it works well for an edc. Blade is easy to resharpen and holds an edge well

As expected the Spyderco Ambitous arrived sharp right out of the box and the fit and finish is top notch for a knife made in China.

BladeHQ shipped fast and they threw in a set of Spyderco dice as they said they would. I will most definitely be doing more business with BladeHQ!

Great little blade.

Great knife to carry as back up for EDC! Very sharp and takes a good edge. Everything you love from tenacious line from Spyderco! Only thing to watch for is chubby hands possibly moving liner bar a little, depends on your grip preference. But still an awesome little knife!

Spyderco Ambitious 2.25 inch

I first took notice of the Ambitious when I saw it looked similar to the "Chubby" but was a fraction of the price. I got more compliments on this knife than any other I've carried, so I bought 6 of them and passed them out. It can be opened and closed with one hand, with some practice. I like the full, reversible clip, which is tight enough to stay put in pocket, but not so tight read more as to require major effort to get it into the pocket. It's made in China, 8Cr13MoV, great quality in every respect.
