ZDP-189 blade steel contains 3% carbon, making it harder, higher on the Rockwell scale and in turn extending the amount of time it stays sharp. The handles shape settles the index finger on the underside and thumb naturally above on the jimped (slip resistant) spine so the knife feels like part of the hand with controlled grip and no forward or backward slide while cutting.
