About Spyderco - Dodo- SpyderEdge
How does one make a small knife feel and perform like a big knife? Spyderco's answer: Ergonomics, lock strength and superior materials. Like a scalpel, the Spyderco/Eric Glesser designed C80 Dodo combines a sensible-sized blade with a large obligingly 'gripable' handle. Short and squat, the blade has an arced belly (big cutting power) and downward curving tip (detailed/fine cutting). It's made of CPMS30V stainless steel available in a SpyderEdge or PlainEdge and is just 2 1/6" (53mm) long, making it legal for carry in most municipalities. The handle is made of royal blue G-10...a composite material that's lightweight and tolerant of extreme temperatures and heavy impact. An Ergonomic grouping of finger choils and tapered end offer a fistful of leverage that settles comfortably in the hand in a forward or reverse grip. The crowning glory in making a little knife with big knife powers lies in the locking mechanism. Spyderco's new Ball Bearing Lock is a pea-sized ball of stainless steel, which drops into a recessed area in the blade's Tang locking the knife open. Once dropped in, the ball is compressed, unable to move or wobble offering remarkable strength and security. Unlock the blade by pulling back on the ball, which is accessible on either side of the handle for left or right-handed use. The beauty of the lock is its simple sphere shape, a difficult shape to break, warp or wear out. A flexible wire clip attaches ambidextrously on either side of the handle setting the knife for tip-up carry.
