About Spyderco Kapara

This is the updated CQI version - The Kapara is based on Australian custom knifemaker Alistair Phillips’ popular “Redback” folder design. Named after an Australian spider with a distinctive red stripe along the back of its abdomen, Spyderco’s Kapara (another name for the same redback spider) faithfully repliCATes Phillips’ distinctive style and craftsmanship, as well as the signature red backspacer of his custom knife.Phillips originally cReated the Kapara as a personal carry knife to help him prepare healthy, vegetable-based meals. Its CPM S30V stainless steel blade is full-flat ground for exceptional edge geometry and has a fully accessible Trademark Round Hole for convenient one-handed opening with either hand. The gracefully styled handle has full, skeletonized stainless steel liners that provide structural strength and form the basis of the knife’s patented Compression Lock mechanism. They are capped by stunning solid carbon fiber scales that are precisely crowned to provide a secure, extremely comfortable grip. An index-finger choil at the base of the blade allows the user to choke up for enhanced control and helps draw attention to machined details on both sides of the blade’s pivot. To keep the Kapara poised for instant access, it includes a reversible deep-pocket wire clip for left or right-side, tip-up carry and a generously sized lanyard hole for the easy attachment of fobs or lanyards.

A friggin’ homerun!

It is such a rush to buy a keeper. This is a great knife. It moved my Gayle Bradley 2 from the 2nd spot to the 3rd. (Kudos to the 940-1). The kapara checks ALL the boxes for me; ergos, blade shape, lightweight carbon fiber, great clip, easy to deploy and, no hot spot when gripping hard. Plus it looks really nice. Kind regards.
pS: DLT is the best.

Fantastic knife, with one beauty mark...

Perfectly constructed, action is drop-shutty. It feels more hydraulic than mechanical, it's that smooth. First task was peeling and cutting 5 lbs of potatoes, it was a pleasure. However... the opening area for the compression lock is small for my sausage-sized fingers, and it doesn't take much fidgeting for the tip of my index finger to get sore. That is my only gripe, but using read more this knife to cut has been great.

This is one great knife! No negatives. Very sharp right out of the box. Carbon fiber is beautifully machined and the handle fits nicely in the hand. Opening and closing is smooth, and its a slick slicer. Don’t wait too long to get this knife. DLT Trading got me the knife fast. Lightweight and well balanced, it is a pleasure to use. Hard to imagine a better knife than this!

Spyderco Kapara

The fit and finish on the Kapara are flawless, like most of my Taichung production folders. I especially like the solid carbon fiber and the burgundy colored G10 back spacer. The blade shape and the ergonomics make this one a keeper in my rotation.
