The Spyderco Native Chief takes the highly evolved, time-tested form of our iconic Native MODel and stretches it by about one third to cReate a longer, even more capable cutting tool that is still incredibly slim and pocket friendly. Its full-flat-ground CPM S30V stainless steel blade includes an index-finger choil and a fully accessible Trademark Round Hole for ambidextrous one-handed opening.The blade is supported by a linerless handle that includes textured G-10 scales, a stainless steel backspacer, and an ultra-refined, Precision-machined back lock mechanism. Four sets of threaded inserts in the scales allow its polished hourglass pocket clip to be configured for tip-up or tip-down carry on either side of the body, and a generously sized lanyard hole easily accomMODates fobs and lanyards.

Sharpest knife I own
This is my first Spyderco knife and I have to admit it is a well-crafted knife. I volunteer on an old navy Victory ship and we were changing out the mooring line, if you don’t know mooring line is what is used to tie big ships of any kind to docks. We were making a splice and needed to cut some of the lines. No one had a sharp knife so, I wiped out my native chief and was able… read more to cut through with no problem. It took about 30 seconds and after I was done my knife had no scratches and was still just as sharp. I mean like razor sharp!
I finally pulled the trigger on this one...
The "Chief" packs a lot of knife into a fairly small footprint for a Spyderco. It's relatively light weight for a blade this size, which makes it easy to carry. The long thin blade is a great slicer.
I held back purchasing this knife because I'm not that keen on lock backs in general. However, this one works well and I can still open and close one-handed when needed.

Overall a very well-made knife and a good value.

TL;DR Get this knife!
I own two Endura 4's and they made me dislike back-locks. This knife has redeemed it! It is so buttery smooth to open and close compared to an Endura. Mine falls halfway shut with a gentle press of the lock. Centering came perfect as well and the blade shape is awesome! It is also superbly lightweight and shallow in the pocket.

Very ergonomic and very comfortable in the pocket, especially for the amount of blade you're getting. If you're a fan of the Native and longer blades, you will like this. Typical, high-quality Spyderco all around.. great knife!

The new Native Chief is an excellent example of Spyderco’s commitment to taking a past model and improving it. The fit and finish is typical Spyderco quality and the value for the price is excellent.
