About Spyderco Polestar

Designed for budget-conscious knife users who demand genuine Spyderco quality, the Polestar is one of the best values on the market. Its leaf-shaped plain edge blade is full-flat ground from American-made CTS BD1 stainless steel and features Spyderco's signature Trademark Round Hole for quick, ambidextrous, one-hand opening. The blade is paired with an Ergonomic, lightweight, open-backed handle built with full, skeletonized stainless steel liners and textured gray G10 scales. A liner lock mechanism locks the blade securely open when in use, yet is easily released thanks to a strategically placed relief cut in the obverse side of the handle. A four-position hourglass clip with a broad, triangular base gives the choice of tip-up or tip-down carry the left or right side. If you're looking for the key qualities of a Spyderco knife in a value-friendly package, the Polestar is a winner.

Great knife, minor build issues

William S.

This is one of my favorite budget Spyderco's. Extremely usable blade shape, solid in the hand, with tried and true CTS-BD1 steel.

It would have been a 5 star knife except the scales arrived slightly marred and blade centering was noticeably off. I was able cleanup the scale marring, but none of the usual re-alignment techniques were able to correct the off-center blade.

This is the knife you buy if you want a spyderco but can't spend $100 + on a para or manix. For another $20 this is an easy choice over the tenacious. The jimping is more refined, the liner lock is easier to use, the scales are sweet and the blade steel is an upgrade. The blade centering is spot on and the action is awesome. I would like to see this knife offered in different colors read more like the Tenacious.

Great (light) edc option

I carry one in my work bag and it's come in handy several times. Love the color of the G10 and the steel seems to be holding up just fine. It can develop rust spots if you're not careful. Great gift knife for someone who's new to spyderco. I only wish the lock bar was a bit thicker.

Exceeded My Expectations

I had an endura and knew I needed another Spyderco that was a bit cheaper. Then I found the Polestar. When it arrived it was sharp out of the box and felt nice in the hand. After some use I'd say it's a solid knife for the price. The ergonomics are great and the G10 is smooth yet grippy. I'd highly recommend this as an entry Spyderco.

Awesome value for a great size knife. G10 handles feel awesome in hand. No hot spots. The blade came super sharp. Cool look and decent blade steel. Recommended! This things cuts through cardboard like butter.

Good Buy

The fit and finish is excellent, and the blade arrived very sharp out of the box. I think this is a great buy for anyone looking to add a Spyderco on a budget. To be clear, though, this knife doesn’t feel “budget.” I really like the ergonomics and how the handle allows a full grip. I looked at the other imported models but think the CTS-BD1 is worth the extra coin. I’m very read more happy with the knife, and the transaction with Blade HQ was flawless.

Budget Blade?

I like how this is somewhat a budget price but a good upgrade from the typical budget line. The CTS-BD1 steel is well worth the extra few dollars. It really feels like a higher priced knife in quality

I wasn’t 100% sure how I would like this. It’s an upgraded Tenacious and on paper it appeared to be a great EDC. I like the almost full cutting edge in a relatively compact package (compared to an Endura at least). The knife was very smooth out of the box and I was very surprised by the level of finish throughout. This is the first Spydie I’ve owned with a fully chamfered read more Spydie hole! As my first Chinese Spyderco I really wasnt sure what to expect, but compared to the Taiwanese Cat I’d say this was one of my better quality knives, though it wasn’t the sharpest out of the box. For me this is a decently priced, excellently made and efficient cutting tool with some good looking G10.

I love this knife. Save yourself 100 bucks and buy this knife if you like the para military II. It feels exactly the same, the g-10 grips are nice, the weight of the knife is perfectly balanced and it feels like a more expensive knife despite being made in China. The BD1 blade comes very sharp. This is a very attractive knife with the translucent gray grips and stainless clip, blade, read more and screws. If the blade said Golden on it I would not question that is was made in the USA.

This is a great knife for the money. My first Spyderco from China and fit and finish is perfect. I was a little hesitant about the bd1 after reading reviews but after using it I am very happy with it. No it's not a "supersteel" but it keeps a good working edge all day for me. And I really enjoy sharpening knives so it's not a problem. It also takes a beautiful mirror polish. I have read more gotten several compliments on that. I'll probably get another one when they have more in stock.
