The 0308 offers a beefy 3.75-inch blade of premium CPM 20CV. The handle features coyote tan G10 on the front scale with a titanium back. Both front and back are heavily 3D machined for an ultra-secure grip. ZT getting back to serious hard use knives!
First ZT I have purchased in a few years! This is a wonderful knife. Fit and finish on my example was top notch. Blade sharpness out of the box was above average, but that is to be expected. This is a big knife along the lines of the stellar 0200 and 300 and 301. The ergonomics of the handle are second only to the 0200. Big in every way
Just received this in the mail and my initial reaction is positive! I must admit that the blade is even larger in hand than it appears in video. ZT always does a great job with the QC and I have never had an issue with one of their products. This knife will definitely go into the rotation although it will be much more at home on the trail or camp than the office. Blade came super… read more sharp and with an action as slick as butter. Fits well in the hand and is not heavy although the weight posted for the knife would say otherwise. I may post a follow-up once I carry this for a time but these are my initial reactions out of the box.

The way it fits your hand is perfect. The sound and FEEL when this thing locks open is very nice( also when it closes!).
On the upper end of an EDC but it carries smaller than its size and weight.

So much good with some not so good
I never owned any of the 300 series so I was not one of those consumers nostalgic over the beefier Zero Tolerance knives of the past. I own and enjoy using very much the 0562CF, 0920, 0452CF; all of which I would not consider small knives by any means. That said, the 0308 is one big pocket knife in every aspect which is exactly what I wanted.

is one of the most unique shaped blades I’ve seen on a workhorse knife. It’s tall and wide, has beefy stock, huge swedge, strong tip, and great jimping on the spine that’s just enough to lock your thumb without being uncomfortable. I have relatively small hands with longish fingers and I love how this knife feels in hand. Of course, I have plenty of room in the back but the overall height fills my hand perfectly and it feels really solid. The size along with the milled texturing is perfect in use. The action is SuPerb! Especially for a blade of this size and a flipper tab that minimal. I have yet to fail it once. The detent is dialed in so well that when you flip the tab, the blade thwacks open with authority every single time. Pocket clip works fine as is and is easily swapped with several aftermarket brands. The construction inspires confidence. From the half-inch nut and bolt pivot, to three huge standoffs, to a thick steel liner and lock interface, this knife feels like a fixed blade when open. It’s super solid and I have no doubt it can handle abuse. As far as the overall aesthetics go, I like the subtle futuristic lines mixed with a traditional brutishness of a working knife. Looks great to me.
Cons:
I’ll start with the blade again: Despite the height of the blade with a tall grind, my example is fairly thick behind the edge. It arrived very sharp but is not a good slicer when it comes to general warehouse tasks like cutting down cardboard, removing pallet wrap, etc. I have similar sized blades that slice so much better at a much more affordable price. The milquetoast color would go well on a knife with a more traditional design and I’m not sure why they went with it here because it just doesn’t line up with the design. That said, I dyed the G10 scale navy blue and reassembled with bronze hardware. A common grip with all ZT knives is that I can’t stand the branding ZT (Kershaw, too) puts on almost all of their pocket clips. I swapped the original with a bronze anodized deep carry for 0920. Which brings me to the stripped screw head on one of the pocket clip screws. I wish I would have noticed it before I dyed the scale because I would have exchanged the knife immediately. But I didn’t notice it until I went to change the clip and as soon as I saw it I knew my torx bit would not do a thing. I had to cut the head off with my Dremel tool but luckily it’s a three screw clip so only two are necessary. But still, a knife that normally resales at $300 should not come with a stripped screw head anywhere. And finally, the pivot. It’s beefy, it looks cool, it holds better than your standard male / female pivots, but it requires a half inch open ended wrench, which, to me, is not more convenient. That is just a small gripe, though.
Overall, I love this knife in use and appearance, which is what counts most when all is said. It will perform exactly as it was intended, I have no doubts. Everything in the cons can be remedied easily except the stripped screw head; I have zero tolerance (see what I did there?) for that. It’s my fault for not paying attention before I did the modifications, thereby ruining any warranty it had. But it’s ZT’s fault for shipping a $300 knife with a frustrating defect. And of course, this is all based on one example and I bet yours will be just fine.
