This is a really beautiful knife that also functions incredibly well. It’s definitely a time tested design. The only little minor thing that I would add to it would be a lanyard hole but that’s not worth knocking a star off for that. I just found out that this knife is being discontinued. It’s probably worth getting since there’s nothing quite like it out there. And it’s read more made in USA. What more could you ask for?

Great Knife

I am very happy with this knife. It's oner of my favorites in my collection. Solid, sharp, zero play in the blade. Opens solidly and fits my large hand very well. 5 stars.

Fantastic knife

This is my second ZT knife. I was on a buying spree for Emerson knives. I just like ZT knives better. The fit, feel, mechanics, of these knives are just beyond, most other knife makers. The warranty is 60 days. The Emerson is 7 days. The blade locking mech on the ZT is real nice compared to others. When you hold a ZT in your hand, and others in the left hand, you will really feel read more the difference. Honestly I would of sent the other two, Emerson knives back, but it was past the warranty date. So I will keep the commander and give the other to my brother in law. I am not a knife collector, this knife is my new EDC. When the ZT 562 TI comes back in stock, I will order one of them as well. My other ZT is a 452CF. Thank you ZT and BladeHQ for outstanding products and service. Chris, Georgetown, KY

Only Knife I've Ever Felt Compelled to Review!!!

This is a ROCK solid knife.

Knives I own:

Folding...

CRK Large Inkosi Insingo Micarta
CRK Small Sebenza 31 Box Elder
Giantmouse Ace Grand
James Brand Barnes - BHQ Exclusive Micarta Inlay as well as Black Titanium
Spyderco Sage 2 Titanium
Pena Apache X Burlap Micarta
Lionteel Opera Cocobolo
Benchmade Valet

Sold, traded, handled many read more others.

Fixed...

LT Wright Genesis Scandi
ESEE 6
Lionsteel M4 G10

Onto the knife itself:
This knife has perfect egos - that is number 1.
I've handled carbon fiber that was slick as grease - this stuff is as grippy as it is flashy.
20CV blade came sharper than any knife I've ever cut with, period.
Geometry redefines utilitarian into a whole new echelon.
Flipper action is flawless and comfortable to the finger.
Deep carry clip makes this knife nearly invisible in the pocket.
Blade play is at 95% to my CRK, but with action literally 3x smoother.

With these fundamentals executed so finely, within 60 seconds it became my favorite knife at half the price of a CRK. Different grinds on those knives for different purposes, but when consider value, it's practically 2 for 1.

This is the only knife review I've ever given - that should tell you something!

Great knife. This is the most money I've ever spent on a knife, but I like it because it is built like a tank. Ergonomics are good. Top-quality blade steel and I love the titanium handle scales. I expect to carry and use this for at least the next 20 years.

It doesn't get much better than this...

Stunning knife. I have nothing bad to say about this piece. It absolutely feels like top notch quality the second you put it in your hand. A work of art!

Super fun knife! I have the 562OBK in 204P but I absolutely love all my 20cv knives. Very similar steels anyway.
Very satisfying kachunk feel when you flip the thicc slap o steel, very comfortable doing heavy cutting/carving tasks, not the best slicer as it’s a thick boy.
Pairs nicely with a spyderco DF2 or delica.

Possibly my favorite folder. It is a tad heavy but for a hard use folder you can't ask for more.

Just an ideal knife

Pavlo T.

I have this knife for about a year. It was a birthday gift from my wife.
It's just a perfect piece for me, I can't think of a single thing I would like to change in it. Blade is phenomenal, I love titanium scales, clip is as deep as it gets and is ideal for EDC(no ZT branding outside).
This knife however is on a bigger side, I carry it when I'm riding my bike, for other days read more I carry Quiet carry IQ from the same materials.
If the size is a concern, this might be a bit too big. I have size 10 hands, and the grip for me is perfect, but I can see how for people with smaller hands it might be on a bigger side.
Again, so far it's the best knife I have/saw/touched.

I love my Benchmade knives, but I have also found a real competitor and companion in this Rick Hinderer design by Zero Tolerance.

This is solid and smooth, giving me a really nice design that is solid and does the job. The grip is great and I’m now a fan of flippers for opening a knife. Wow… just wow.

The weight is not light but it feels very appropriate. This read more is not a huge knife but it is not a subcompact EDC. I also am beginning to appreciate the slide lock as an alternative to the Axis lock.

I recommend this knife whole-heartedly.

Absolutely Phenomenal

James B.

Admittedly there was a little lock stick initially. But after just a couple days of fidget flipping and a little nano-oil applied it's like butter and 0 lock stick.

On a side note about ZT. On my first day carrying the knife the clip got caught on my car seat and snapped off. I contacted them and they are replacing it (and have a list of other free parts for ZT owners) completely read more free. I mean I suppose maybe some would just expect that sort of thing because of the cost. But I just thought it was fantastic service and I really appreciate it.

If you're on the fence just go for it.

I've always loved ZT's knives... particularly their fit/ finish. This one is certainly no different. And you can definitely tell that Rick Hinderer had a hand in making sure that anything with his name on it would live up to his standards... and it does. Very nice piece, ZT.

Very Well Made.

This is a very well made and functional knife. I wear a size medium-large size glove and the handle ergonomics is great. For a large folding knife, the overall weight is very light. The KVT bearings are awesome and the blade snaps open with minimum effort. The deep carry clips are a a very nice touch. Only reason I didn't give 0562Ti five stars is b/c of the scales. Not too fond read more of the matte/stonewashed finish as my first impression was that it looked used.

Awesome!

Really love this knife! Great value. Perfect fit and finish.

Solid and smooth

David T.

Action was smooth out of the box, coming unlubricated. With a little knifepivotlube, this thing is absolutely drop shut with one exception. There isn't a detente ball ramp on this knife, which means that the lock-bar must be held out until you have that ball on the stock of the knife or it will hang. That being said the ball can be pushed past quite easily with a tiny bit of force, read more just stops it from being a complete finger guillotine with its BUTTER smooth caged ball bearings.

Slicer grind means you get the benefits of thick beater stock close to the hand, with it thinning out well in the belly. 20cv is a great steel, which hasn't dulled on me enough for me to need to sharpen it yet with about 3 months of cutting up cardboard from my hardcore quarantine shopping sprees under the belt.

Ergonomics are fantastic, knife does not move in your hand and the flipper acts as a very effective finger guard. Pocket clip disappears in the hand, carries fully deep and then some and mounts from the inside with a screw outside. Knife is light for the size and its solidity, lighter than the cf version, because of the heavy internal milling of the show side handle. I got mine for 220 on sale which feels like a steal, seems fair even at 280

Good but overhyped

Michael J.

This is a good knife, there is no disputing that. The quality, ergonomics, materials and execution are there by in large. However, I found mine to have a few issues. The ZT carbon fiber feels cheap and the action on mine was very bad out of the box. I could have just gotten a bad one, but I had to adjust the pivot a few times and apply nano oil to get the flipper to actually work. read more Also out of the box the blade was not centered. There is some significant lock stick as well on mine and even with some graphite it still sticks about every third open. On the very good side I am in love with the blade steel and grind. Overall the weight is a bit much for the amount of knife you're getting but it does feel more hard use category instead of EDC so that is acceptable. Overall I still like this knife, but I feel that the quality control on mine was a bit off.

The 0562TI is simply outstanding. The flipper design is very crisp and the titanium scales add that finished elegance one expects from a ZT knife. This knife is on the large side and solidly built. It will hold up to whatever you send its way.

Great buy

Bought this for black Friday so I paid $200 even for it. Even if I had paid the $260, this is well worth it. Very solidly built knife, and it shows every time you open it. It does need a very slight break in period before everything just glides. I am very happy with this knife, and look forward to my next zt purchase!

Needed tuning BUT...

Nick F.

What an amazing finish on this knife! It is a beauty that is also built very sturdy! There is no side to side blade movement and the blade is centered. Overall quality is as expected and the feel of the knife is perfect.

At first it was very hard to flip open but after disassembly and fine tuning it works perfect. I cleaned any residue and changed the lubricant to a read more 10 weight nano lube. Now, the action is the smoothest I've ever seen!

I am giving this knife 5 stars even after having to maintenance it right out the box. It surpasses all expectations and all knives sooner or later will need some tuning. I have no complaints!

Short of dropping $500.00 or more for some magical one of a kind miracle folder, I think this is the best made folder on the market. Everyone knows about the specs and details of this bad boy already.
My review is with the the people at Blade HQ. Folks, it doesn't get any better! These people care about customers, they are polite to their customers, I have to believe a couple read more of them are kinda nuts, but they are totally customer focused and they know their [email protected]! With SO MANY Chinese fake and replica knives on the internet, you would be foolish to not buy from this company. They are 100% the real deal. They inspected my 0562CF to make sure it was perfect in everyway before they shipped it. All I had to do was ask politely. Their follow up as far as communication was phenomenal! I don't know who "Brendon" is but pay that dude more money! Great knife, great transaction, great customer service. It all goes to show that attitude makes a company successful!

This ZT is a beautiful example of ZT's philosophy of overbuilding knives. It feels strong in the hand, and the CPM-20CV blade is an absolute beast. The titanium makes it feel lighter than it looks, but this knife is solid and tough as you could hope for.

I love it.

Spencer M.

This beautiful beast has almost rendered my big toe useless when it ended up being dropped on to my bare foot, leaving a 3/4th long gash over my tendon. So all things considered? I fricken LOVE this thing.

Big, heavy, very comfortable, great action and extremely sharp. easily my best ZT knife, and has made my other favorite knives kinda jealous. I now pair this with Benchmade read more limited Freek or my ColdSteel Colossus. And I highly recommend this.

Do; BUY THIS KNIFE

Don't; DROP THIS ON YOUR FOOT.

My First Zero Tolerance

JASON H.

This is the first ZT I've owned and out of the several flipper knives I keep in my daily carry rotation, the 0562CF is hands down the best in my collection now.

I don't find it to be too heavy and bulky as others have stated. It's a perfect size for daily carry. As many others have related, the fit, finish and action were perfect out of the box, and the action is only getting read more better with everyday use.

One (very personal) beef was the carbon fiber scale. It's the first knife with a CF scale I've owned, and I have to say that I don't like the feel of it despite the fanfare it receives. It felt cheap (despite it's higher price point), slippery and unnecessary. I ended up swapping the CF for a custom micarta scale from Sharp Dressed Knives and it feels great. So if you're hesitant about the CF, I'd suggest buying the G10 version of this knife and then going to the many makers of custom parts for this model for upgrades. I also swapped out the black hardware for bronze hardware from MXG gear, which brings me to the only other piece of criticism on this knife:

When I disassembled the knife from the factory, the caged steel bearings were bone dry and a few actually had a substantial layer of rust forming on them, but they still rolled freely within in the nylon washer. A little oil fixed them right up and the knife was super smooth even before the maintenance and despite the rust.

All in all, I would highly recommend this knife to anyone who daily carries. And I may purchase another just in case they discontinue this model.

I just got home and I just opened the box of my very first quality knife. I really felt like a kid on Christmas day. I've only had $20 to $60 blades before. This is a quantum leap of quality! I've never had or even held anything like this before. The function is so smooth. There is not a flaw on it. The bade opens and locks in place perfectly. It stays locked against hard pressure read more on the back of the blade contrary to some critical videos I had viewed and decided to ignore. And when I want to close it it unlocks as it should. Perfect!

Not much to say that hasn't already been said. The knife is slightly larger in hand than expected, but that's ok. It looks very nice, but I wouldn't go snapping it out in a delicate crowd. It looks (and sounds) a little aggressive. It has taken me a little while to position my hand correctly so that I don't put any pressure on the frame lock while trying to open it. The recess in read more the frame lock is perfect for my ring finger, then I just have to pull my middle finger back some to get it off the lock. I also have a Benchmade 940-1 and it is much lighter and less aggressive looking with the same blade length, but again that's ok because this knife is exactly what it was intended to be. It functions perfectly, pocket clip is great, and the lockup is rock solid.

If you want a heavy duty smooth knife, you cant go wrong with the CF version of this knife. The steel is great as is the pocket clip. The pocket clip is above and beyond every other pocket clip there is. I've not had to sharpen this guy yet, but I've heard 20CV is a real bear. Since I've not had to sharpen it yet, you know it will hold an edge. Great knife!!!

I have a collection of around 20 knives. All being spyderco, benchmade, kizer,Vdk and zt. This is bar far my favorite knife! The fit and finish are out of this world. The carbon fiber is the best I’ve ever seen and the bearings are the smoothest I’ve ever played with. This knife is a great edc blade and is tough as a brick house! Not to mention it’s absolutely beautiful! I read more know $250 is a little high for some people and was too high for me for a long time, but is well worth the money!! It’s definitely in the hall of fame in my book and compare it to other knives I own such as my zt0804cf and my Vdk war admiral! Definitely recommend this knife to anyone that wants a beautiful, tough edc knife!

I am very impressed with this knife. Fit and finish on this thing is perfect. The detent was a little on the strong side out of the box, but breaks in nicely. Pretty easy to do because I can't put it down. I did quite a bit of research and comparison before getting this knife, and am not disappointed. I think this is the best knife out there at this price point.

Very good flipper

Jason P.

This is an excellent flipper. It carries surprisingly well for a 3.5 knife and with the deep carry clip nobody will know you have this much steel in your pocket until you use it.

I have three minor problems that resulted in knocking off a star.

1. I specifically asked Blade HQ to check mine for blade-centering, etc yet I received a copy where the blade is sitting read more to the edge, it rubs a bit when opening so I will probably will have to take it apart and reassemble it or send it to ZT. Disappointed in Blade HQ.

2. Edge on the knife is not straight for the last inch or so of the Blade. See point 1. Also 20CP is hard to sharpen so fixing will take a bit of time.

3. While this is a great folder that costs much less than a custom knife I feel that this knife bats too low for the $240 I paid for it. It is very similar to my Benchmade Rift that I paid $160 for, the Benchmade had a perfect edge and perfect Blade centering out of the box and has a lifetime warranty.

Overall this is a great folder, I will just buy future ZT knives locally so I can inspect before purchase.

Overbuilt is right!

Chad F.

This knife is one solid folder. ZT is not exaggerating when they say overbuilt and built like a tank.

Beautiful flipper, awesome edc however I don't abuse this one as much as I should because it's too beautiful lol. Absolutely the most solid heavy duty feeling flipper I ever felt. If I had to grab only one of my folders to go to war with this is the one I'd grab without read more a doubt. Detent is on the stiff side & is fitting for the HD purpose of this knife but after some break in gets a little easier.

You won't regret getting this knife, absolutely awesome.

Great Knife-Blade HQ Great Company

Andrew B.

There are two aspects to this review. One is about the knife the other about Blade HQ. I collected knives back in the 90s. I have quite a fine collection. However, since then metallurgy has made great strides. My knives were in carbon steel or the likes of 440 stainless. Until recently I have not had the experience of owning the newer steel. In addition to metallurgy, the mechanics read more of knives has changed. I heard about this knife in terms of its mechanics, how smoothly it operates and I had to see it for myself. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. The carbon scale coupled with the titanium back is really nice and feels great in the hand as well. I don't find it slippery. It opens quickly and smoothly with its KVT bearing system. It is smooth as silk. My knife is from the current run, CPM-20 CV, Crucible's powdered steel. I have never owned this steel and as of this writing have not taken it trough the paces. Suffice it to say that I could shave with it out of the box. I expect that it will hold its edge and I will only need to hone it. I use ceramic, leather with green and white compounds as well as naked leather. The only thing I noticed was that the frame lock seems a little tight. It has no jimping but that said it is not hard to close. I really have no interest in trying to close a knife with one hand even if it is possible. (I like my fingers unsliced.) Better locked tight than not I say! In any case, it closes easily enough. I am not a big time outdoor person although I have some law enforcement experience. This knife is a slicer perfect for EDC. It is not intended for tactical purposes although expect the knife to hold up to just about anything because it is solidly built.

Now to my experience with Blade HQ. Because the older run of the knife was with CTS-204P I called the company prior to purchase because I really wanted the CPM-20 CV. From an elemental perspective, the two formulations are almost identical. However, because Crucible's method is proprietary, I simply wanted to own the knife with its steel. I have absolutely no objective grounds to suggest that the CTS-204P is inferior in any way. I could find no information online one way or another. It was just my preference. In any case, the salesman assured me that I would receive it in CPM-20 CV. When the knife arrived however, I noticed it was the CTS-204P. Honestly, had it not been marked I would not have been able to know the difference. Yes, I was upset but I wrote to Customer Service and i also called them. I suggested that they send me the new knife overnight, shipping at their expense and they email me a label to ship the other one back. They were kind enough to accommodate me. Now, that is some company and a really stand up thing to do. For that, I will remain a loyal customer.

Awesome Flipper!

This my first ZT and I have to say it's a really nice piece, as already noted by almost everyone else here. First time handling the knife in person was at SHOT Show and I was really impressed by the fit, finish, and super smooth flipping action. So I went home and immediately ordered one.

When I received my knife from BHQ, I was surprised to find it was nearly impossible read more to open! It required a ridiculous amount of effort to overcome the initial detent pressure with the flipper. A call to BHQ customer service put everything right and I returned the knife in exchange for another copy of the same knife. This new one works perfectly and I'm very pleased with this purchase. I will definitely buy from BHQ again.

I have tons of high end folders/flippers, microtechs, Brous, Spyderco, and quite a few more and this one has been my go to for some time now. I can't say enough good things about it. Perfect size, weight, deep carry, and just has the look I love. It came razor sharp and holds its edge wonderfully. Great ergos, the thing is just awesome. Well worth the price... Actually, I feel it read more is underpriced. If I lost it I would absolutely have to get another and I would even have to get one if it was double the price. If you are on the fence about it just pull the trigger, you won't be disappointed.

Update: I now own a Bowie Hinderer which I love everything about but I still carry this knife far more often. Can’t beat the quality and feel of this knife.

This is my first ZT and I think I chose wisely. The build quality is excellent, materials are excellent, features are excellent, ergonomics are excellent, the action is excellent. The weight is on par with any other quality 3.5" frame lock flipper. I added blue titanium hardware and sharpened it up on my edge pro using Chosera stones and that CTS-204p blade really came to life. read more My only criticisms are that it wasn't very sharp out of the box and the pocket clip has some side to side flex but I do like the design of the "Super Duper Ultra Deep" pocket clip. Hahahah! Blade HQ continues to impress me with their very fast & excellent service. Whenever I'm looking to buy a knife I always pray Blade HQ has it in stock!!

It really is. Probably the perfect knife for someone looking to get into higher end knives for the first time and not wanting something that looks huge or too intimidating. It's no louse though. This version has a mean edge out of the box and holds it for a very long time. The flipping action is buttery smooth and lock up is solid. For many, this is the perfect pocket knife and read more it's easy to see why once you get your hands on it.

I love this knife!

First time buying a knife.
After following some online forums I decided to buy this ZT 0562cf.
I'm very happy I got it.
I love the carbon fiber and titanium. The knife feels very light in my pocket.
The pocket clip is perfect, the knife sits deep in my pocket and only the pocket clip is visible.
Opening and closing is smooth. (it was a bit tight at first, needs read more to be broken in)
The blade comes very sharp from the factory.
The blade was perfectly centered and I could find no other faults with the knife.

Thank you ZT, thank you BladeHQ.

I love this knife! By far my favorite EDC knife to date. The ZT 0561 was just a tad too big for me. This is perfect! Feels great in hand, disappears in the pocket, looks awesome, has one of the best steels available, perfect detent! I mean I honestly have a hard time finding a con with this knife! If you're on the fence buy this thing it will not disappoint! Great job ZT!

Best flipper action I've ever felt on a manual folder, combined with A super steel, carbon fiber, and beautiful Hardware. It feels like every aspect of this knife was looked at and nothing left lacking. The lock side has something about it that really catches my eye. The Milling on the titanium is great the steel lock bar insert is great. The Lockup couldn't be better. This knife read more is an all around win.

The Best ZT So Far

In my opinion, this ZT562CF is the best ZT so far. It has perfect flipping action and detent. The blade comes flying out like a rocket. And this blade is made from a great steel that is razor sharp. This knife has a great sound to it when it is deployed, and when the blade is closed. Almost the same sound a Sebenza makes when it is opened and closed. This by far is the best ZT, read more and at this price it is worth grabbing two of them. You won't go wrong buying this awesome blade.

Super high quality knife.

Where to start..... This thing just oozes of super hulk like quality. Everything seems perfect. You already know the specs, its ZT, it's made with very high quality materials. The steel, the frame, the CF scale is sweet. The blade has a BEAUTIFUL satin finish with some gorgeous "machining marks" that give it such a nice look. Not really something you can see from pictures unless read more you see one really high def and close up.

The blade came fairly sharp. Definitely sharp enough to slice paper, but I would not say as sharp as some of my Spyderco's came. It may just be the different grind on the blade compared to my Spyderco's which caused it to not "feel" as sharp. It is not an issue though like I said it did come sharp, and most people buying this knife will be able to sharpen it up to their liking.

As for build quality and fit, etc.... I'd score it 100/100 if possible. This is the strongest/most solid folder I've ever held. When the blade is open there just is no play what so ever, not even any teeny tiny amount of micro play. NOTHING! Even my Paramilitary 2 which is extremely solid and sturdy as a tiny tiny amount of micro play when I really really look for it. I can fix that by tightening the pivot until there is none, but then the blade doesn't drop free which is how I prefer my PM2.

Anyways back to this ZT, as I was saying it is just freaking solid. When you have a folder like this and it is so damn strong and solid with the blade open it really instills confidence. I absolutely would take this knife with me in a survival situation as a back up to a couple good fixed blades. I have no doubt this thing can take an insane amount of use and abuse.

The deployment, locking, and closing are all top notch as well. The flipper works perfectly matched with the ball bearing system ZT has incorporated into some of their higher end knives. It is a very smooth action, and extremely fun to open to be honest.... you get a very satisfying "thwack" when it locks open. Lockup is super strong, the Ti frame lock lock bar does its job just fine. Lock bar makes contact with more then enough of the blade and doesn't get stuck or jammed, so closing it with one hand is always very easy. Even with that said, I see no signs of the lock bar failing with stress on the knife. I'm not about to start beating up my $240 knife doing spine whack tests just yet so I'll leave that to you. I have plenty of confidence in the lock though.

Not much else to say, I'm not one to go into super detail with these. I was super pleased with the knife and I feel like it was definitely worth the money. I'm looking forward to see how well the CTS 204p performs, everything I've heard about it is great.

If you're looking for an extremely tough, well built folder that you can without a doubt rely on as an EDC or a back up blade in a survival/outdoor environment then this should certainly be a blade you consider.
