Great little knife

Ken K.

Love the white, but it will be an acquired taste, as it will get dirty and have a patina to it. Super light, even lighter than my comparable UK Spyderco which I love. Same Benchmade design with the axis lock, but so much lighter than their other versions I've picked up over the years. Nice addition to the EDC rotation for me, dirt be darned, scratches to the black blade don't scare read more me, I'm going to use this thing!

The Perfect Lightweight EDC

Jeff L.

The "big" knife in a small size. For most of my uses, the "baby bugout" is perfect in size of opened and blade. The S30V blade steel holds an edge beautifully and sharpens or strop-sharpens quickly to a razor like edge. Deep carry clip. Perfectly placed thumb studs. Axis Lock. And weighs so little, you'll forget it's in your pocket. Dig out your credit card right now and just buy read more it.

This mini bugout is a great starter bugout. Great price and then you can get Flytatium scales and turn this into an amazing collectible knife.

I love how light it is!

I have this one and the $250 bugout elite and I find myself reaching for this one more often then that and most my spydercos. I like it better then the lil native and the dragonfly 2 I like to play with the lock but i also love it for how light it is, in basketball shorts you forget it's there and the clip is so good I never worry about it falling out my pocket. And the lock is read more better on the mini in my opinion then the bugout 535-3

I couldn’t be happier. It’s a perfect knife for EDC. Thank you DLT Trading.

Great Knife. Great Price.

Big fan of the axis lock. S30V steel has excellent retention and sharpens very well. I got this small version in the orange color to use when I do bench work or piddle in the shop. Very easy to find when you leave it lay somewhere. Get this knife, at this price you won't regret it!

Love this knife, this was my first purchase on blade hq. People who work here are so nice and amazing. Back on point they sent the knife very quickly. The cf elite bugout just feels perfect for me. it is very very lightweight. When I am carrying it. It feels like a feather in my pocket. Everything is so nice on this knife

Benchmade Mini Bugout #533—

The Benchmade Mini Bugout is nice and light and I really like the frame spacers. The blade is perfectly centered and nice and sharp out of the box. The Axis Lock is smooth and blade opening just about perfect. Nice knife.

Thrilled for a week, then it broke.

Dave C.

The knife felt great, breaking it in for about a week. I was pleased with the fit in my hand (small glove size) and the feel of the action. I was surprised when breaking it in broke it, as one Omega spring let go and its angle (not arc) could be spotted from the bottom edge of the scales. BHQ customer service was helpful in setting up a return, and I'll probably roll the dice again read more with its bigger brother.

Severely Disappointed

Seth S.

In my opinion, this is one of the better looking knives on the market.

The good stops there however.

I was extremely excited to get this knife, but upon receiving, I was let down.

The mini is smaller than I expected and between the light weight and grivory scales, it just feels cheap.

All of my other budget knives feel sturdier and better built.

While read more the axis lock is fun / fidget friendly, it has a tendency to bind up or lock up and I find this to be extremely annoying.

This knife was carried daily for a short while, but was quickly pulled from my rotation because it just feels cheap and I fear I'm going to break it.

Lesson learned with Benchmade.

At $136 dollars, there are much better options out there.

It's a good knife. It's just spectacular.

I like the small size of this knife, and I love that the weight of it just makes it disappear, and I LOVE the action and Axis lock. What I don't like is that it actually carries surprisingly bulky in the pocket. Don't get me wrong, it's not like it's big or something, but the squared off end isn't pleasant.

Excellent Small EDC Knife!

Just picked this one up, I already love it! I should mention that this is my first Benchmade knife. I haven't carried it much put it fits in your pocket nicely. The axis lock is super fun to play with and the S30V steel is awesome. I would highly recommend this knife to anyone who is looking for their first Benchmade knife or just looking for one to add to the collection.

A little disappointed

Christopher H.

Any kind of dirt in your pocket gets in the lock mechanism which is a spring. When that happens the knife cannot be opened using the thumb stud. The action sounds like grating. Other than the locking mechanism, I really like the knife.

I love my mini bugout. I was hesitant on the white scales but they look great against the black blade and clean up nicely. I love the fidget factor with this knife. It is a very useful tool that I've used on everything from palm fronds, hotdogs, to cutting aluminum cans - that I wouldn't recommend because it yucked up the black coating a bit lol. Definitely my favorite knife.

I bought my minibugout from the Benchmade website because it was sold out here. unlike any of my other knives the edge of my mini bugout has developed a few small chips. Also the pivot keep loosening up even after applying copious amounts of blue Loctite and tightening it. even though functionally a little blade-play side to side is not the end of the world I still expect more. read more If you dont mind a little blade play then I would say this knife could definitely work.

My first Bug Out and it's an awesome EDC knife! I have small hands and at times I feel like it's a tad small, but it disappears in the pocket. Sometimes I have to double check my pockets to make sure it's still there! Razor sharp out the box and the opening action is really smooth. Looking forward to getting the full size at some point

Mini Bugout Awesome Carry

Theodore D.

This is my first Benchmade knife purchase. I like the weight of this knife making it effortless to carry. The orange thumb studs and backspacers compliment the scales. The action is smooth and after an very small pivot screw adjustment, the blade freely drops closed shut. The blade is finished well and real sharp out of the box. This will not be my last BM purchase. Great buy!

Blade play. & Not worth the $

Jason H.

I like the size and axis lock. It came centered but with horizontal and vertical blade play. I’ve tried adjusting the pivot but can’t get it solid without without making the action super stiff. Thought it needed some break in so just fidgeted with it for several days. Still no dice. it’s a shame a $120 knife requires the end user to tune it up. Considered returning for a replacement read more but unfortunately I’ve since dropped it on concrete and rolled the tip slightly so figure they’ll think that’s why I’m returning it. The edge geometry seems off too. One side is shallower grind then the other. Eh. Bummer. Won’t be getting another Benchmade anytime soon.

Brilliant for EDC!

I bought this for my fiancée and she loves it. The lightness, the smaller size and deep seat pocket clip fits perfectly for women’s shallower pockets. All this and it still has a useful blade size. She got the stormtrooper color combo and loves it. Thank you Blade HQ!

Once you take the Mini Bugout out of the box; you immediately feel and experience its amazing quality and comfort. The fact that its weight its super light; makes it extra safe and comfortable to carry it around in your pocket as a daily or everyday carry on. Having an ultra thin, light but strong iron blade CPM-S30V; makes it amazingly resistant and accessible to just cut anything read more real easy and safe. Also, its overall length just provides accessible maneuver regardless of hands size.

Just needs more handle colors

I like the mini better than the original. The full size tries to slide out of my hand when I open and close it. The mini just sticks and is just as cool. I have many knives to choose from but this one finds its way to my pocket more than anything.

If they come out with some additional colors I'll be even happier.

Perfect EDC!

I own a Bugout (and many other knives in similar sizes) and I admit, I do love my Bugout. When the mini came out I was interested right away because I had been thinking a shorter knife would be a nice EDC and not take up as much space in the pocket. So I picked one up and haven't looked back. I even went a step further and installed the Flytanium jade scales.

I now have 10 bugouts and 4 bugout minis, they are the best most affordable lightweight, customizable ,and just cool knives you can own , I always get originals, then buy a few to customize, and a user ! Don’t wait ,just get one , then check out the flytanium scales or rogue Bladeworks scales , and eBay has titanium screws, clips , thumb studs etc... make it your own , action is read more smooth and the scales are much stiffer on the mini . Get one or many !

This is a great little knife with the perfect blade length for EDC. The orange scale is bright and easy to be seen if it happens to get dropped. Sharp, straight, and great for anyone who wants a nice, light, and relatively inconspicuous ECD knife. I own the entire Bugout line and this one will be the one in my right pocket.

My new EDC

Brian R.

I was looking for a high-quality, light weight EDC, and this fits the bill perfectly. Like other reviewers have noted, it's so light weight that you forget it's in your pocket. I purchased the version with the white scales (the "Stormtrooper" version), and my only concern is that the white scales will more readily show dirt with time and use. I'm seeing a slight amount of that after read more about a week of use, so I will likely swap out the scales at some point.

Storm Trooper EDC

Fantastic pocket knife. As you would expect from any Benchmade blade, the materials from handle to blade are top notch with the weight being almost negligible in the pocket. The price is a bit high for a small folder especially when the orange Mini is less expensive. This was a must have for me and I might even pull the trigger on the orange. I highly recommend the Benchmade read more Mini Bugout.

I bought this as my wife's first EDC; specifically for the Axis Lock mechanism, because she has never been comfortable with back locks. That it was also her favorite color is why I was willing to preorder. When it came in a month and half before her birthday... well, she got it early. After a week of EDC, she doesn't know why she never carried before.

I may have to get one read more for myself (or a Griptilian®).

Less Really Is More - Better than the Delica?

Adam B.

If you're familiar with the full-size Bugout, you know what you're getting into here.

That said: there has been some legitimate questioning of the strength/durability of the scales on the full-size, as you can pinch the middle of the handle and see some flex when the blade is deployed. Thanks to the smaller scale here, you'll find no such flex issue and I was happy to see read more that improved.

The mini feels like a solid competitor to the Spyderco Delica, but at a full ounce less overall weight I've got to give the edge to the Mini Bugout. It's damn near as light as the Dragonfly.

And sure, the Bugout line isn't going to win over many fans of large overbuilt cutters. It's all about being light, unobtrusive with it's deep carry clip, and effective at everyday tasks. It's light enough that you could clip it into the pocket of your sweats or your basketball shorts for those days when you aren't wearing your tactical trousers and utility belt.

The blaze orange Grivory handles will keep this from getting lost in your kit, and the orange anodized standoffs and thumbstuds give it a nice color pop, all complemented by black hardware. It's a great small knife that I'd love to see in some sprint run variations, as we've seen with the full-size.

The price feels a little high given where the full-size lands. I think if they were able to keep it under $100 it would be a sure-fire hit, but there's a lot of competition at the current price point, all offering a lot more blade in more substantial layouts.

But sometimes less really is more, and if you can get over that hump this is one that you'll likely find in your pocket more than you'd expect.

Just got my white Mini Bugout today. I love it, it disapears in pocket even more than the regular Bugout did. It's my new Edc for a while. I really hope there will be more colors to choose from in the near future. That is the only reason I gave it four stars, just not crazy about the colors we had to choose from but love it anyway.

About as small as I would go with

Tom Stout

I was holding out for a Bugout in orange. After resisting getting a Bugout for almost 2 years, I relented and gave myself one for Christmas. I was going to get some orange scales until this one was announced.

It's smaller that my Mini Griptilian and about as small a knife as I would want for EDC. It’s completely concealed when I wrap my fingers and thumb around read more it. Normally I have to loosen the pivot about 5 to 10 degrees so that the blade will fall shut, not this time. My Mini Grip doesn’t fall shut without a little wrist and I thought it might have been because the blade was so light, I guess not. I’m very happy that Benchmade made this one and selected my favorite color for the scales.

I swapped the hardware with my blue Bugout for a complementary contrasting accent. This Mini might wind up in a tie for third position with the Bugout in my extensive collection behind my Brown Exponent and Benchmade 943.

DLT's shipping was outstanding! I ordered it on Friday and had it Monday.

Not sharp

JACK J.

A really nice well made little knife. Mine was not especially sharp as received. Also the rear 1/4 inch of the edge wasn't fully ground. Not my first new Benchmade and I was a little disappointed with the edge. I would have touched it up anyway, it just took longer than it should have. My son has a full size one. His was flawless.

I pre ordered the White Mini Bugout back in January and have been informed it's on its way. Based on the Bugout in olive green that I already own, I'm sure to be a Very Happy Camper!!!!! Noticed that it is already out of stock in white from your store. So Sorry to the Poor Fellas that did not pre order :(
