Nice looking knife, but lock-up issue

Alex A.

Great micarta looks with bass accent and nice grip too. I really liked it at first, but unfortunately mine had a lock up issue. I had to open the knife hard to get the lock bar to engage. The problem improved a bit after alot of tuning but just not reliably enough. I finally just gave it away. I did ater buy another model feldspar and I do highly recommend the feldspar, great bang read more for the buck!

Poor Lockbar Engagement

Kyle A.

Loved this knife out of the box. Micarta was excellent. Blade was sharp. Felt great in the hand.
Blade needed slight centering. Every part of the knife was polished and looked great besides the spot on blade where lockbar engages. This was going to be a gift for a friend.
If it was mine I'd have kept and polished profile, but decided to send back and order something else. read more If you buy, watch those fingers.

Beautiful, BUT....

This knife is beautiful. The blade profile, size, handle shape, in-hand feel were all near perfect. The micarta feels really good, too - just a beautiful piece.

The VERY big "but" is because lockbar engagement is pretty questionable. 1/2 the time it refuses to engage, and the other 1/2 it engages only when snapped open HARD. Having a lock that regularly fails on a slow roll read more - or even under normal opening pressure - renders all of that beauty useless. Sadly, I was so excited when I got it that I threw out all of the packaging, and I'm not sure if it's worth it to pay the return label and repacking fee on a $50 knife. It's a shame, and I hope it was just a fluke, bc I really like CJRB (already own Centros and mini Feldspar in green G10)

Great price for good quality

I was a little hesitant to purchase this blade at first but boy am I glad I did. With a few minor adjustments it is very good quality for the low price. It has become my new favorite. Totally satisfied. Thanks to Blade HQ for the fast shipping.

Surprise, surprise...

What a surprise this one turned out to be. Wasn't really expecting too much at this price point, but pleasantly surprised when it arrived. First, BladeHQ quick on shipping and perfect on packaging as always. Secondly, this knife is definitely quality and workmanship beyond the $50.00 level. Really nice micarta, super smooth action, great lock up and the centering is spot on. Has read more a great look and feel in hand. Fits nicely into the fidget category too.

If you're still hesitating. Don't. You'll probably end up pleasantly surprised as well.

Lockbar failure

Cesar V.

I love just about everything on this knife. The brass accents, rides on bearings, contoured micarta, D2 steel. All of this is amazing at this price point. Unfortunately the lockbar on my particular piece would sometimes fail to engage. It would lockup anywhere from 0% to 50%, obviously failing to lock the knife at times. For this reason I had to return it. There are other nitpicks read more about this piece that dont really matter. It wasn't too sharp out of the box and the blade wasn't centered. Those two things are inconsequential since I ended up returning it due to it not locking. If you buy one I hope you have better luck with the quality control than I did.

This is a really great knife

I had to buy one on the secondary market because I kept missing them here, but it was totally worth it. If it's in stock, buy it! This is my first micarta handle and it has a great texture and look. It's my new favorite handle material.
I also have the regular feldspar, and when comparing the 2, the show side liner on the micarta version is skeletonized, making the whole knife read more lighter. Also, both liner locks were set too strong and needed to be adjusted, but once fixed, they have great action.

The good: ergos, handle material, clip, skeletonized liner
The Bad: action needed tuning.

Great knife

Definitely one of the best knives that I have and comparable to knives that retail much higher. Lock up is solid and the ball bearings are very smooth. The centering on mine is perfect. If it's off you might want to adjust the body screws rather than the pivot. If the scales/liners are torqued it can affect the centering. The micarta is better than some aftermarket scales that I read more have bought for more than the cost of this knife.

A lot for the money

Contoured micarta and D2 for this price is a great deal, and this comes close to being a really great knife.

Two things hold it back (for me at least): The first is that the centering on mine was off a bit. Loosening the pivot a little fixed it, but that introduced lateral blade play when the knife was locked up. Taking out the blade play threw the centering off again.

The read more second is that the thumb stud has to be engaged at exactly the right angle to deploy the knife properly, and it seems to be a different angle than my other thumb-stud knives (more outward than upward). So I wind up missing the deploy about 20% of the time.

All that said, it's a keeper. If you like the looks, grab one when/if they come back in stock.

Great edc to get you hooked on micarta.

This knife is a great size and weight for everyday carry. It snaps right out and has a nice lock up. The brass-colored barrel spacers and pivot collar look great against the green micarta. The micarta feels amazing for this price point, I’ve bought $75 plus custom micarta scales that don’t feel this good. Nice podium thumb studs and a deep carry pocket clip means this knife read more checks all of my boxes.

If you haven’t experienced micarta scales yet and want to try a knife with them. Buy this, fall in love, start your very own micarta addiction.
