Awesome, heavy duty blade.

Micah C.

Nice big broad blade with a flat grind and durable tip. The handle provides many grip options, and you could even comfortably hold the very end of the handle with 3 fingers for maximum reach and chopping velocity. This knife is well suited for small to medium wood processing tasks including batoning. Wear gloves because the handle texture is aggressive!

This blade is made to put the fear liver and onions into your enemies! Once unleashed, this blade of holy light is big enough to reach out and touch someone! If you do not have a firearm available and your life is in danger, you could quickly dispatch evil with this pocket sword that Conan himself would be proud to own! Seriously badass knife

One of my favorite if not my favorite Cold Steel blades and I have a lot of cold steel knives. Comes super sharp everything I've cut this thing slices through like butter. Lot of people say the grip is too abrasive but I love it especially when holding the handle down low if you're swinging it from there hard it makes it easier to hold on to but it can rough up your pants pocket read more if you draw it frequently. It takes a little practice too but you can also flick this open without touching the blade which is nice. Overall great price for this huge pocket folder.

Had this for over 8 years and of all my knives, this is the only one that gets pulled out for the hard tasks. Can't say enough good things about this knife and the tanto edge is ridiculously strong.

Good Value Hiking Knife

Good value for cost, materials, design, and function. Practical, general purpose knife. The light weight handle makes this good for hiking. Handle is sturdy - no flex.
Blade is very sharp. Cuts paracord quick and clean.
Hazard Note: please use two hands to close this knife. (I was trying to be a hot-shot and close it one-handed. The lock was stiff. So, I jiggled the knife read more while depressing the lock and the blade drop-shut on my finger. Ouch!)
Con.s: 1) Only color - black. (This knife disappears in the bottom of my backpack. I added a bright tab.) Wish it came with a neon yellow handle. 2) Pocket Clip. I can't get it over the fabric. (I am going to remove it.) 3) Grip - there is a "bump" on the handle between the ring finger and the little finger. I have small/med. size hands. My little finger lands on this bump. I wish the "bump" was not there. (I am going to find a way to flatten it out.)
Overall: I like this knife and recommend it. Practical work knife.

Huge but practical to carry

Michael W.

Don't be put off by the size, this is a surprisingly light knife and easy to carry. Also works very well as a flipper. Primarily designed for self defense but seems it could be quite versatile. Good handle allows several solid grip methods. This thing feels like it could serve as a back up machete or light axe in an emergency. Razor sharp out of the box. Fantastic buy.

Massive & Durable

If you already own anything from Cold Steel then you know how great the quality is and if you don't, get one ASAP. I call this my 'pocket sword' because it's such a big knife but I can still carry it in my pocket without any discomfort. I've used it for just about every household & camping task that you can think of and it has held up like a champ!

Everyone needs a coldsteel

To modify a quote by Ricky Bobby,

"If you don't -own a cold steel knife- then F*** you"

but not really, I mean you like whatever you like, and that's fine. But I think these are just staples for bad a** knives that really make ya feel like you got a REAL knife in your hands. So we all say triad lock, and I will also say tri-ad lock, because tri-ad lock. And what I read more mean by that is the tri-ad lock is a p o w e r f u l lock, yes backlocks are kinda annoying, yes this one is harder to press than others, but it's okay because it is that awesome and strong, so the backlock just h a s to be strong.
yes the pocket clip is too strong and the texturing can tear at your pants but it honestly carries pretty well and it isn't terrible to carry. the best part is it's such a huge knife! perfect for tactical knife usages.
Also full flat ground.
Also a Very comfortable and secure grip, also a nice thickness.

really this knife is wonderful, watch out on closing it with the backlock, but yeah great knife, gotta have a cold steel, glad I bought it when it was under $50 . . .

Absolute Beast

This knife is an absolute beast! Any Voyager is a true working knife. If you want a knife that can do almost anything ( except edc ) buy a Voyager. I have two myself and would recommend it to anyone. For some reason the pocket clip came super tight on both of my voyagers. I'm not sure if that's a thing that Cold Steel does or what.

Great knife

I am a cop and let me tell you what. This is my new work knife. Its big its sharp it can handle edc tasks but it's a great back up if everything else fails. I do wish it would come sharper but it is so easy to sharpen and takes such a great edge.....who cares lol

Fantastic. Large but light

Tim B.

This is masterpiece of a knife. It is decievingly light but still a beast none the less. The serrations are more fine then some other companies serrations it delivers a very clean cut unlike many brands with thicker serrations. It is very nice knowing this knife will last me a lifetime and will most likely never need sharpening. The triad lock is a tank and would say it is easily read more the strongest lock on a folding knife I have ever personally witnessed. You will not regret buying this for a second and you know your folding knife will always be bigger then any folder around unless someone pulls out a espada xl that is ;)

A big, big folder.

This thing is huge. I keep it in my car's center console for self-defense / self-defense mitigation (this thing is intimidating). While I could see this knife being used as a possible camp/hiking knife, I feel if you were willing to pack something that large/heavy, a fixed blade would be the way to go. However, housing a Tri-Ad lock, this thing can take a beating. Tt being a folder read more can also make it easier to stow (comes down to personal preference I suppose). Out of the box it came extremely sharp. 4 stars because the pocket clip is so stiff its nearly impossible to use, however pocket carrying this is sooo suspect. It is relatively inexpensive for a blade of this size and I would recommend it for someone seeking a ridiculously large knife while not breaking the bank.

New and improved!

Right out of box I noticed 2 changes vs. the older gen voyagers. 1. The action is much smoother out of box with the back spring not being as tight and 2. The texturing is just as grippy with fewer hotspots and catching on the pocket. I have yet to see the difference between cts bd1 and aus10a in terms of edge retention, toughness l, and corrosion but I suspect they'll be similar.

Cardboard Slayer

Colton F.

I love this knife man, if you need a cardboard annihilator this is it, this thing was always in my back pocket at Walmart for when I needed(felt like tbh lol it was fun ) to break down big thick cardboard like on watermelon feature boxes , this CTS-BD1 is awesome and although this is a thick knife and not the best slicer , the big blade and triad lock gave me the ability to power read more thru and just annihilate cardboard, however this is yet another knife that suffers from what I call "thumbstud in the f***ing way syndrome" as I found myself getting really choked up on the back of the blade to power thru but the thumbstud just has to hang up on what I'm cutting .....other than that this is an awesome knife for what I use it for ...a thick cardboard anihilator

My most favorite knife!

This thing is just AWESOME! Its amazing the quality you get for this amount of money. This is one of the best slicers on the market and its also super sturdy because of that TRI-AD lock. Definitely a great value.

20 years and still going!

I purchased my Cold Steel Voyager in 1998 while living in Alaska. I carried it every day and abused the heck out of it. It's done so many things that a folding knife shouldn't be asked to do. Like chipping a vehicle out of ice, splitting kindling, slicing off a chunk of my thumb within the first week.....and the lockback is still solid. I'm amazed. Although the original, very Fine read more serrations they used haven't really held up.

This knife feels dangerous

Jacob W.

This is a weapon. A large, agile, folding weapon. It can also be used as a miniature machete. The knife has impressed me. It came shaving sharp out of the box, the folding action is smooth, and the lock will not budge. Upon seeing the size of the knife in person, I thought I would never be able to carry it. Granted it is large, but it carries comfortably in any fairly deep pocket read more without feeling like you're carrying a brick. I can even carry it in gym shorts with no problems. It takes up some room, but I can carry this knife and my wallet in the same pocket with no problem.

As for its use, this knife is meant to be a weapon. It works as an edc blade, but it is very obviously oversized for most tasks. However, its usability as a weapon is great. With a sharp yank, this knife will draw from the pocket and can be deployed quickly. The handle is contoured for two main grips. Either a standard saber grip at the top of the handle, or a handshake grip at the bottom with your pinky in the bottom groove. The standard grip gives good agility and point control, while the retracted handshake grip puts the balance point further up and really lets you feel the cutting power.

This knife is meant to be a weapon for self defense, either on its own or as a backup to a gun. This is not a normal pocket knife for normal tasks. Maybe if you are wanting to use it for ranch or field work. This knife readily fulfills its purpose as a weapon and gave me exactly what I was looking for. The length of a fighting knife, the sturdiness of a fixed blade, and the ease of carry of a folding knife.

Bold and Huge

Matthew T.

I've always wanted something huge, so I picked one of these up some time ago. Since it's pretty big and hefty, I don't carry it on my person very often so it stays in a backpack or the car. It's fun to use, durable, and the Tri-ad lock is really great, and it gets the job done.

Great knife!

Just received this knife today and couldn't be happier. Very sharp. Love it. Good quality.

If I could have only one.

Best overall, Jack of all trades folding knife available. Tactical, what it excels at. Edc, it might be too long but it's certainly not too heavy, it's my longest serving edc. Food prep, it's very good at it with that full flat grind and it being thin behind the edge. Outdoors, camping, hiking; it's handle is comfortable enough and it's tough enough that you might get away with read more it being your only knife.
It does need to have the grip scales sanded down some and the pocket clip needs to be bent slightly to really get this to shine, took 15 minutes of work with 400 grit sp and a pliers.
