QC Disappointment
Knife received with the blade slightly off centered and, when the blade is opened, the framelock is fitting too tight against the blade making difficult to close. I’ve opened and closed it a hundred times and it’s not breaking in. Probably should not have a glass breaker on a knife this small as it is sharp and it uncomfortably points directly into the palm of the hand. On the… read more plus side, the finish of the knife is beautiful, but just too many problems to recommend purchase to anyone.
Don’t be nervous about Sleipner
I was a little nervous about the seemingly non-exotic sleipner steel. But after using Koyamaichi woodworking chisels (forged white steel, high hardness) quite a bit, and being extremely impressed with them, I went for it. Factory edge is great,… read more but now I love the knife with a ~35 degree edge angle (factory angle is more obtuse). This sleipner gets scary sharp, which is what I was looking for, and durability/wear resistance so far seems more than acceptable. No chipping at all so far. The frame lock is a little hard to disengage in order to close it - a very small complaint. Other than that, I love the knife. I still like my Chris Reeve Umnumzan better. But this one was ~1/3 the price and the little brother to the ‘manifacturers Quality award’ in 2017.
