This SR-22 MODel has a red aluminum handle and a black finished Sleipner steel blade.The LionSteel SR-22 represents an evolution of the popular SR-2 folding knife. Its frame is machined from a single piece of aluminum for lightweight strength and durability. The SR-22 is also outfitted with a blade fLipper, dual ball-bearing pivot system, and a carbide glass breaker tip for emergency use. A reversible tip-up pocket clip allows ambidextrous everyday carry. Features: Integral frame lock handle design provides dependable strength and durability. Don’t be nervous about Sleipner
I was a little nervous about the seemingly non-exotic sleipner steel. But after using Koyamaichi woodworking chisels (forged white steel, high hardness) quite a bit, and being extremely impressed with them, I went for it. Keep in mind I also have Veritas ‘exotic steel’ chisels, as well as Lie Nielsen. It was very difficult to reprofile the edge angle. Factory edge is great,… read more but now I love the knife with a ~35 degree edge angle (factory angle is more obtuse). This sleipner gets scary sharp, which is what I was looking for, and durability/wear resistance so far seems more than acceptable. No chipping at all so far. The frame lock is a little hard to disengage in order to close it - a very small complaint. Other than that, I love the knife. I still like my Chris Reeve Umnumzan better. But this one was ~1/3 the price and the little brother to the ‘manifacturers Quality award’ in 2017.
