Need is a relative notion
I’m not going to claim to be a self-defense expert or even a wannabe & tell you about the virtues of this knife in that regard. I’m clueless about such things & will never carry this as a self defense tool. I got this because I’ve wanted one since I first saw it. I have no real use for it beyond having a cool way to open the mail.

The sheath works well & appears to be durable. The critical aspects of the steel being a dagger are symmetry and quality of the grind. In that regard I give this high marks. If my Socom Elite in M390 is any indication of the heat treat, this beast in that same steel should be fine. It’s plenty comfortable in-hand with plenty of grip for my use.
I’m going to stick to happily merely having bragging rights of ownership and a cool way to open my mail. I have zero input as regards ability to use for self defense.
