Okay, I Admit It...Microtech Builds A SAWHEET Knife!
I was a naysayer when it came to a genuine MT product versus an "almost the same" product from another country. I will state now, I was wrong...the difference between the real thing and a replica can't even be quantified!
First, this knife is built SOLID! I mean, when I hold it, it feels solid despite it's incredibly light weight! I'm not sure I'm sold on the distressed finish,…

but it certainly does make it easy to not worry about that first scratch, but from there in, this UTX85 is superb in all respects. I never could have appreciated how great this design is until I had one in my hands. The action is rock solid without a hint of wiggle. The blade slams out hard and locks to zero movement. The deployment button takes a little getting used to because of the spring that holds it elevated, but it works, and the bold serrations on the deployment switch are aggressive, providing a non-slip purchase. The stonewashed components lend a serious, and attractive look to the knife and the blade...one look tells it all! The blade is precise...the D/E is clean, clear, even, and precise. The markings are crisp and the finish is even and attractive. The blade is the whole point of this knife and MT did it right...it's got a thick spine unlike so many pretenders, and the tip is sharp to a needle tip without an observable defects.
In case my opinion is not obvious, this is a premium knife well worth the money asked for it. In fact, I suspect MT could easily bump prices and these knives would still sell out.
The price to get into a genuine Microtech is surprisingly affordable, and one gets the assurance of a superbly constructed knife! I highly recommend the UTX-85 as probably the ideal size for a first Microtech!
