Spyderco Stretch
About Spyderco Stretch
This Stretch 2 folder features brown G-10 scales over a stainless steel frame and a ZDP-189 steel blade!Despite the many advantages of Spyderco's lightweight knife, some users prefer the gReater heft and strength of a more robust handle construction. The new Stretch 2 delivers this in style by expressing this proven design with full skeletonized stainless steel liners, a stainless steel back spacer, textured brown G-10 scales, and a stainless tube lanyard hole. Like its lightweight counterpart, it also features an ultra-high-carbon ZDP-198 steel blade, a stout back lock mechanism with a Boye Dent, and a versatile four-position hourglass clip. The Spyderco C90 Stretch started as a pet-project lockback knife design. Spydercos owner and chief designer Sal Glesser made it for his personal use, incorporating features he wanted. He wanted high performance blade steel with edge retention super-powers for outdoor cutting: things like wood, rope and anything encountered in the wild. It had to work equally well indoors on cardboard, mail and fingernails. He sized it so it wouldnt scare nonknife people and made it look slick on the off chance hed someday have to wear a suit.

The average of a few different Goldilocks knives
Endela with a choil? Backlock/lightweight PM2? Whatever it is, it’s a design masterpiece. It’s the kind of knife that would make most people never buy another one. Ergonomics are perfect for XL hands, with or without use of the choice. K390 is the perfect steel for such a workhorse of a knife, it is a fantastic value for a steel you’ll be sharpening so rarely. Even when I… read more did sharpen it, I was surprised by the relative ease freehand on diamond stones. I haven’t babied it in terms of corrosion resistance, I’ve used it on plenty of wet wood and done nothing more than wipe it dry. My only complaint is the sharp finish on the FRN and Spydieholes of the Seki City models, but it’s an easy fix.
Spyderco Stretch 2
I have collected high end for 25 years. This is a design masterpiece .The spyderco hole riding high maximizes steel thickness over and under the hole for lateral strength. The curve on the spine provides a very comfortable thumb ramp during maximal choke up. The same spine curve creates a mutated Bowie tip for outstanding penetration. Just the right amount of blade belly. The wider… read more back handle is a dream in the palm. VG -10 is really outstanding steel. Steel comparison charts can be misleading. Rockwell 58 may be ranked 5 and Rockwell 62 may be ranked 10, but 58 is not half as hard as 62. A VG -10 knife can last a professional chef a lifetime. Good enough for me.
Perfect large folder
Ended up sending the Endura back as it was just big enough to feel awkward opening and closing the knife. The Stretch is just about the perfect large edc blade and fits the hand so well, with no real need to use the forward finger choil.
If you’re in the market for a large lock back Spyderco working knife, the Stretch is a great option.
Amazing Slicer
You know that plastic that they package electronics in that seems to take 30 mins to open? This knife cuts through stuff like that like it was butter. The full flat grind and belly on this blade make it an excellent slicer. VG10 has great edge retention and rust resistance. The FRN handles makes this knife very light.

EDC Excellence
The Stretch 2 is very versatile, has a great belly for exceptional cutting power, and it feels great in hand. VG-10 takes a beautifully keen edge and has great corrosion resistance, which makes this knife amazing for daily use, especially considering how lightweight this model is.
