It has a really good handle and blade quality, and the locking mechanism is nice too. It's not insanely sharp, but it cuts through boxes like butter. The only complaint I have is the super stiff action, but it's already started to break in and get smoother. Overall it's a great buy, this is all you need for EDC.

Update: I've realized after more use that ergonomics are terrible read more on this knife, the action is absolutely great still, but the 8Cr13MoV steel is already dull. When I first got the knife, it would cut through paper and cardboard like butter. But a few boxes later, it doesn't have near the edge that it once did. I see now why people go for higher quality blades.

One FINE EDC

I love to carry this one. It's great for everyday carry and stays sharp even when whittling hardwood. Think I might get another more expensive one next time just to see if it's better than this one.

Amazing knife for the price.

This has been my first “real” pocketknife and I couldn’t be happier. Quality was better than expected, no complaints from shipping and great ergonomics. There is definitely a little learning curve opening it if your coming from a more traditional pocket knife. With that being said it’s not a problem it will be mussel memory in a couple weeks.

Love it

This knife is absolutely amazing, its great to fidget with and is super sharp from the box. it has good strength and edge retention. Some people think spyderco knives are ugly but I think it looks amazing especially in all black. Its opening and closing are almost buttery smooth and great to fidget with. the grip is really grippy (pun not intended) and almost never slips. a complaint read more is that the clip is a bit to tight and is hard to fit in some thicker jean waste bands, i guess it will loosen over time. 10/10 would recommend as a first knife.

It's a decent EDC.

Don't get me wrong, 3 stars isn't high but it's not a perfect knife. I've carried this for almost a month straight. It cuts well, but the steel isn't great, it dulls out fast.
The handle is not too grippy, I'd like a little more grippy handle for harder tasks, it's rather comfortable though. The clip is great for the price, and isn't flashy.
I wouldn't buy another because read more of the sharp spydie hole, and the extremely strong detent. When you try and open the knife it flies out because of the detent, I've dropped it tons of times, and cut myself before simply because it's too stiff at most times.
I paid 100$ for the knife because of shipping, taxes, and CAD is a lot different than USD, I'm not extremely happy with the purchase but it's honestly one of the best EDC's. As long as you don't get a bad one of the batch you'll love it.

Amazing customer service.

Knife arrived today and I am very pleased with it, however the thing that stuck with me is how nice the Bladehq customer team is. I called them twice, as I'm in Canada the delivery was maybe a month late and I thought the knife would never come however I called the department and everything was sorted out immediately and I will be buying here again for sure.

My tenacious was extremely stiff upon arrival I took it apart and cleaned and lubed it and it is still extremely stiff opening and closing. I wanted to love it I own two pm2s and two pm3s and a safe 5 and I wanted a beater for work. Very disappointed. I emailed Spyderco and they said to ship it back to them for inspection....which I thought was pretty poor customer service....but read more damn I do love me some Spyderco

I've never bought a Spyderco before, but my buddy lost his and I got him one for Christmas. Of course, I had to take it out of the package and mess with it first. This is an incredibly smooth and sturdy knife. I like it so much that I'm pretty sure I'm going to get one for myself.

I really can not complain, it may not be the higher brand for spyderco but it has held up very well. Also very easy to sharpen and stays sharp unless I am really using hard. This knife Is my EDC and I never leave without it!

This was the first spyderco I ever bought and it is what got me addicted. I still maintain that the majority of Spyderco knives are ugly but boy so they work! This knife handles whatever I throw at it and is really easy to sharpen. I carried this exclusively for almost 2 months and love the size, weight and cutting power it provides

Little Long for my taste

John H.

I love the action, feel, and look of Spyderco. This knife does them justice. My only complaint (personal preference so not hurting the rating) is it's blade is a bit long for my taste. The Persistence is a better size for me, that being said, the Tenacious deploys much easier with the added blade weight.

I've had this knife for a while now and its still my go-to, favorite knife. Its the perfect size for edc. The edge was razor sharp out of box, the side of my finger can vouch read more for that. The blade shape is ideal for most cutting tasks. The clip is nice and strong. Its reversible and for left and right hand carry and for tip up or tip down carry. Its not deep carry but it still gets a pass. The construction oozes quality. And for under $50 its hard to beat. I really wish spyderco offered the tenacious in other steels than 8Cr13MoV. I know it would add to the price, but id be willing to pay it. I know they make other similar knives, but I like the liner lock, the size and that it doesn't have a finger choil. Unfortunately, all the knives I know of that spyderco makes with better steel is missing those features. That's not to say that 8Cr13MoV is bad, its just that it doesnt hold a razor edge very long and needs to be touched up frequently. Although its fairly easy to sharpen. Overall though, this knife is a perfect starter knife. If you are only going to own one pocket knife, this would be a good one. Its also good as a beater knife if you want something to use at work so you dont put unnecessary wear on more expensive knives.

This is the gateway knife to the Spyderco realm. This knife is hands down my favorite budget EDC knife out there, and after carrying this knife you will want to explore the entire Spyderco line. This is my go to recommendation for anyone looking to get into knives.

If you're unsure about buying an expensive high end knife but you still want quality this is the knife for you. decent blade steel with smooth action. this is a fantastic all around knife. I bought one and liked it so much i asked myself "if this 50$ knife is this nice how good is the 150$ pm2?" and long story short I ended up with 6 spydercos in 2 months.

Great performance, not so pocket friendly.

This knife has a lot of good things going for it. I love the ergonomics and performance that this knife offers. Only problem is that I rarely carry it because it is so wide when closed that it doesn’t carry well when clipped on a pocket.

I recently purchased this knife as a gift for a close friend. I carried it a month, as a test so I didn’t gift him a cheap knife. I was wrong to question Spyderco. This is hands down an excellent knife for the price point, and a great starting point for anyone new to knives. Steel ain’t great, but hey, IT’S 50 BUCKS.

I grew up seeing my dad always having a Spyderco in his pocket or a Manbug on his keychain, but I was never a big fan of the weird circle in place of the normal thumb stud cause I just thought it looked silly. Then about a year ago, my coworker convinced me to finally get a Tenacious and I couldn't be happier. Once I learned how to really use the "Spydie hole," as my coworker called read more it, it's true design brilliance was revealed to me. It's been my EDC ever since I got it (I'm so sorry, my old composite Leek), is still sharp to this day, and is a blast to open with the thumb hole. Another thing that really surprised me when I got mine, and especially after a few months of use, was the absolute rock-solid build quality. There's still no blade play whatsoever and I've never had any sort of hitch with the locking mechanism. This entry-level knife will most certainly not be my final Spyderco purchase; I can't really call myself a knife guy if I don't own a Para 2!

I really didn’t like Byrd knives because I really dislike the deployment hole. I think Spyderco really knocked it out of the park when they started making value knives under the Spyderco name rather than under the Byrd brand name.

This knife is a great value knife! Need a beater knife but want something visually similar to other Spyderco knives? This knife has you covered. read more The Tenacious fits the medium size in this line of knives (it’s siblings being the Resilience, Persistence, and Ambitious).

Oh my god do I 100% reccomend this knife.

Ive never spent this much on a knife before, I know its really not that much compared to other peoples standards but I am so happy I bought it.

It feels amazing in the hand, opens a bit tough at first but then gets real nice as you use it. Locks up great with absolubtly zero blade play.

This is some serious luxury ive read more never had in a knife in the past. Where has this thing been?

Buy it, love it, enjoy being impressed every day by it. Totally amazing.

Details:

Shapness is great, when I say hair shaving sharp I mean it. I hate it when people say it is and it isnt but this thing is fully capable of shaving hair. Just lightly stroke it against hair and its gone.
I got a coffee and decided to try cutting the card hand protectors that keep them from getting too hot, stood it up on its side and just pressed down slightly and it was one amazingly clean cut. So satisfying!

This is my pride and joy so I dont know about how long the sharpness lasts but it seems to be holding up really well, no signs of losing that out of box punch.

Outstanding knife for the price. Came very sharp out of the box, with a slightly sticky deployment, but became very smooth like all spyderco's typically are.

The steel is easy to maintain and sharpen, (8Cr13Mov), and does most tasks very well without damage to the knife/blade itself.

This was the knife that introduced me to Spyderco. I was hesitant at first but wanted to see what the hype was all about. It was inexpensive but well worth the money. It’s a quality blade that has served me well. The fit and finish is top notch with smooth operation and I can truly say I wouldn’t change a thing. Do not hesitate to buy this knife.

The tenacious is perfect for an everyday carry or as a work knife. The blade holds a edge for a good amount of time and is very easy to put a razor edge on. It has a very smooth opening action and locks up very well. Only a slight amount of side to side blade play which is expected. The G10 provides a good amount of grip without being so sharp it destroys your pocket. Great purchase read more for anyone who loves knives. I have much more expensive ZTs and Benchmades and still enjoy carrying this knife

I bought this excellent knife back in May and it hasn’t left my pocket since. I use it every day and even though I’ve purchased new knives since then, the Spyderco Tenacious is always in my pocket. I’ve put some hard use into it and i have only touched up the edge once or twice. Great knife.

This is my first spyderco, my wife got it for me as a gift for Christmas. I've been very impressed. A new favorite and great price from bladehq.

Good Budget EDC Knife

If you want an EDC knife without breaking the bank this is a good choice. Even though it is made in China, it is a Spyderco and I trust their quality. The blade material is not the best out there, but for the price it is good. It sharpens with ease and holds an edge pretty decently. I love the feel of the G-10 handles, they fit in the hand well. I love the black finish on the blade read more paired with the blacked out hardware and handle. I would recommend this knife to anyone that wants a good EDC or another knife for their collection. I love that a company like Spyderco will take the time to make a great budget EDC. It can be hard to find an EDC that is budget friendly and quality.

I daily a spyderco paramilitary 2, and my girlfriends little brother (15) collects knives but didn't have a good edc. I toyed with a few other options in the Kershaw and Ontario lineups, but ultimately decided to go with the spyderco. The knife was delivered in 3 days (way less time than the shipping predicted), and I put in the notes to write a birthday note for him. They did one read more better and drew balloons and big block letters on the package. I'm extremely satisfied with the knife ( spyderco is always a good choice) and with the company. Needless to say I will be ordering everything I can from bladehq.

Is the steel the best? No. Is it made in China? Yes. That being said, I don't own a 45 dollar knife that even comes close to this knife. Quick deployment, solid lockup and very sharp out of box. The quality on this knife really is good. Even the affordable Spyderco knives are outstanding. They aren't "cheap." To me cheap means quality has been sacrificed. Nothing was sacrificed read more with this knife. If you don't want to spend a lot of money but you want a quality knife, buy it. It shocked me at how good this knife is for the money.

Hey guys,

This is the very first pocket knife I've bought and carried.
I've since bought several, a Kershaw Shuffle, a Spyderco Ambitious, a Kershaw Cryo II, a Benchmade Triage, a CRKT GSD, etc.. And yet the one that is still in my back pocket on a daily basis is the Tenacious.

It is cheap, discreet, solid (dropped it blade opened several times). I don't know much read more about the blade steel but I'm not a hardcore user so anything sharper than a butter knife works for me.

For a 1st or 10th knife, I would recommend the Tenacious in a heartbeat as an inexpensive folder.

Cheers.
