Looks great! Nice green. Feels nice, too! The G10 handle is durable and provides a nice grip. Seems well built. Functions smoothly and perfectly.

Solid.

It has a really good handle and blade quality, and the locking mechanism is nice too. It's not insanely sharp, but it cuts through boxes like butter. The only complaint I have is the super stiff action, but it's already started to break in and get smoother. Overall it's a great buy, this is all you need for EDC.

Update: I've realized after more use that ergonomics are terrible read more on this knife, the action is absolutely great still, but the 8Cr13MoV steel is already dull. When I first got the knife, it would cut through paper and cardboard like butter. But a few boxes later, it doesn't have near the edge that it once did. I see now why people go for higher quality blades.

Fully serrated for serious work

Ben G.

That old guy in Cliff Hanger, you know the movie with Stallone, he carried a fully serrated Endura and it was used throughout the film. I can't afford an Endura, but this knife here scratches that itch. First off, it surprised me how large this knife was. The blade and handle look and feel great. The serrations are shaving sharp, the ball detent keeps the blade closed and there read more is a nice snap when locking open. Nice, smooth action. Big enough blade for serious cutting, the serious edge for the same. I'm not rescuing stranded climbers, but this knife does everything I need it to so far.

Excellent EDC, good value

I like Spyderco quality and have owned 7 over the years - ranging from a zdp-189 Dragonfly to a Manix 2 XL and Military. The one thing I've never liked is the finger choil at the base of the blade. It will turn your 3.3" Manix 2 into a 2.9" blade, which is a shame because it's too short. I understand the reasons why the finger choil is there, it's just not something I ever use. read more I always told myself if the Tenacious was ever offered in premium steel, I'd buy it simply because it's the perfect EDC length for my uses and has no finger choil. It's been in my pocket for several months now. It works great, holds an edge for a long time, and is very lightweight. No complaints. I only wish other Spydercos were in this price range - they are simply much more than I want to pay later.

I love to carry this one. It's great for everyday carry and stays sharp even when whittling hardwood. Think I might get another more expensive one next time just to see if it's better than this one.

Fit and finish are perfect. The knife is really well made. Good price. I'm shamed to admit that it is a better made knife than some of my expensive Benchmade knives.

Better than expected

I figured I would like this knife, but between the steel, f&f and how comfortable and easy it is to use this has been pretty consistently kicking other knives out of my pocket. I've been waiting for this knife to come out for a long time (a tenacious in a premium steel) and it certainly did not disappoint. The only problem I had was that it needed taken apart and cleaned when I read more received it to get a really smooth action, but that's pretty normal.

This is my first Spyderco manufactured in China and the quality control on mine is perfect. Really nothing that I can nit pick.

The Tenacious is a great edc knife. Size, weight, ergos and price are all spot on for me. The upgraded steel is what got me to finally buy one though.

Cheers

Amazing knife for the price.

This has been my first “real” pocketknife and I couldn’t be happier. Quality was better than expected, no complaints from shipping and great ergonomics. There is definitely a little learning curve opening it if your coming from a more traditional pocket knife. With that being said it’s not a problem it will be mussel memory in a couple weeks.

Great for EDC

Jesse Munyan

The Tenacious lightweight is a great EDC blade. Reasonably priced, sharp out of the box, and a great grippy scale texture right out of the box. It arrived centered and had zero blade play out of the box. The 8cr steel is the only knock, Spyderco really needs to step up the steel in their budget line. This was my first purchase from DLT and it was great. Fast shipping, accurate tracking read more and excellent packaging.

Another Great Spidey

Love this steel! Razor sharp out of the box. A little bigger than I normally carry but dang it’s a good knife!

Love it

Kelson M.

This knife is absolutely amazing, its great to fidget with and is super sharp from the box. it has good strength and edge retention. Some people think spyderco knives are ugly but I think it looks amazing especially in all black. Its opening and closing are almost buttery smooth and great to fidget with. the grip is really grippy (pun not intended) and almost never slips. a complaint read more is that the clip is a bit to tight and is hard to fit in some thicker jean waste bands, i guess it will loosen over time. 10/10 would recommend as a first knife.

I don't trust it.

The lock failed during a cookout while sharpening a stick for a hotdog. I was cut. Out of my 40+ knife collection, this is the only knife I've ever had fail like that. While the lock is engaged I can close this knife by lightly tapping it on the spine. I should return it but I'm not really interested in another one. I'll never trust this knife. It hangs in my barn and I only use read more it to carefully open bags of pet food. I've tightened the action so much, it requires two hands to open. It's a sticky, gritty slip-joint to me. I love spyderco and own several other styles of their knives even some byrd styles and they are all great. This tenacious was very disappointing and not on par with the rest of the brand.

It's no Manix 2 Lightweight

Colby M.

Worst thing I ever did casually collecting knives was to sell my blue lightweight Manix 2 a few years back for way less than it was worth. Wanted to get back into a Spyderco for not much money, had a gift card so I took a chance on this China-made knife that, to me, had the same look as the Manix. I recommend to anybody looking to add a Spyderco to their collection to stick with read more Golden-made pieces. The Manix 2 I had was exceptionally well made and was real fun to open and close and open and close and sometimes cut with. This knife barely locks up, rendering it dangerous. I reckon I'm going to return it. Direct your budget-knife money elsewhere.

Perfect knife for the price

First off the size is great and the feel in hand is amazing. plus is just looks fantastic, the only issue is the steel isnt amazing, mind you it will still do the job but it doesnt retain its sharpness quite as much as some of the more expensive knives but this is to be expected.

Solid Value Knife

Andrew C.

This knife is a solid value folder series from Syderco. My first experience with the sydie hole made me fall in love. It feels pretty good to open and close one handed. Lots of fun to play with. The blade feels a tad too thick for my liking for an EDC. Overall a good intro to knives especially syderco, but left me wanting more.

It's a decent EDC.

Denis H.

Don't get me wrong, 3 stars isn't high but it's not a perfect knife. I've carried this for almost a month straight. It cuts well, but the steel isn't great, it dulls out fast.
The handle is not too grippy, I'd like a little more grippy handle for harder tasks, it's rather comfortable though. The clip is great for the price, and isn't flashy.
I wouldn't buy another because read more of the sharp spydie hole, and the extremely strong detent. When you try and open the knife it flies out because of the detent, I've dropped it tons of times, and cut myself before simply because it's too stiff at most times.
I paid 100$ for the knife because of shipping, taxes, and CAD is a lot different than USD, I'm not extremely happy with the purchase but it's honestly one of the best EDC's. As long as you don't get a bad one of the batch you'll love it.

Amazing customer service.

Knife arrived today and I am very pleased with it, however the thing that stuck with me is how nice the Bladehq customer team is. I called them twice, as I'm in Canada the delivery was maybe a month late and I thought the knife would never come however I called the department and everything was sorted out immediately and I will be buying here again for sure.

I've never bought a Spyderco before, but my buddy lost his and I got him one for Christmas. Of course, I had to take it out of the package and mess with it first. This is an incredibly smooth and sturdy knife. I like it so much that I'm pretty sure I'm going to get one for myself.

The knife looks great, feels great in the hand, very sharp right out of the box. Everything is very tight, it doesn’t slide open very smoothly but I kinda like how tight and rigid it is. This is my edc not afraid to use it knowing it won’t break easily and if it does it was only $50 :) it’s one of my favs. Oh looks great too with the green handle.

I bought my wife a tenacious and dropped it in her purse without her knowledge. She always uses my knife... It’s time to have one handy.

First Spyderco Knife

David V.

After a decade, I found one of my first knives that I bought - a Kershaw Junkyard Dog. Finding it was like reigniting my passion for knives and thus I got back into collecting. When researching for a new EDC I initially bypassed the Spydercos just because I didn't really like the aesthetics on it. But the more review videos I watched and the more pages I scrolled, Spydercos started read more to grow on me.

I decided to give Spydercos a try so I wanted to start with a more budget friendly knife and my attention came across the Tenacious. When I got it, I immediately fell in love - the ergos, the G-10, even the blade! I know 8Cr13MoV is often knocked around a bit as not a great blade steel, but I've been using it as my EDC and it's been awesome! I haven't had any issues with it and this knife is definitely an EDC keeper for me and simple gift-idea for people I know who are contemplating on getting into the knife-life as well.

Jonathan J.

This was the first spyderco I ever bought and it is what got me addicted. I still maintain that the majority of Spyderco knives are ugly but boy so they work! This knife handles whatever I throw at it and is really easy to sharpen. I carried this exclusively for almost 2 months and love the size, weight and cutting power it provides

Little Long for my taste

John H.

I love the action, feel, and look of Spyderco. This knife does them justice. My only complaint (personal preference so not hurting the rating) is it's blade is a bit long for my taste. The Persistence is a better size for me, that being said, the Tenacious deploys much easier with the added blade weight.

Ben M.

Overview:
Aesthetics - Great
Ergonomics - Good
Edge - Excellent
Traction - Excellent
Clip - Excellent
Lockup - Excellent
Blade centering - Good
Size - Perfect
Weight - Average

I've had this knife for a while now and its still my go-to, favorite knife. Its the perfect size for edc. The edge was razor sharp out of box, the side of my finger can vouch read more for that. The blade shape is ideal for most cutting tasks. The clip is nice and strong. Its reversible and for left and right hand carry and for tip up or tip down carry. Its not deep carry but it still gets a pass. The construction oozes quality. And for under $50 its hard to beat. I really wish spyderco offered the tenacious in other steels than 8Cr13MoV. I know it would add to the price, but id be willing to pay it. I know they make other similar knives, but I like the liner lock, the size and that it doesn't have a finger choil. Unfortunately, all the knives I know of that spyderco makes with better steel is missing those features. That's not to say that 8Cr13MoV is bad, its just that it doesnt hold a razor edge very long and needs to be touched up frequently. Although its fairly easy to sharpen. Overall though, this knife is a perfect starter knife. If you are only going to own one pocket knife, this would be a good one. Its also good as a beater knife if you want something to use at work so you dont put unnecessary wear on more expensive knives.

This Tenacious is a fantastic knife for daily use, at a great price. If you are like Ben then this knife may not be for you. It's a bit on the larger size, but the hand feel is great, and it being a Spyderco the aftermarket parts are really available for customization. It comes shaving sharp. I grew up seeing my dad always having a Spyderco in his pocket or a Manbug on his keychain, but I was never a big fan of the weird circle in place of the normal thumb stud cause I just thought it looked silly. Then about a year ago, my coworker convinced me to finally get a Tenacious and I couldn't be happier. Once I learned how to really use the "Spydie hole," as my coworker called read more it, it's true design brilliance was revealed to me. It's been my EDC ever since I got it (I'm so sorry, my old composite Leek), is still sharp to this day, and is a blast to open with the thumb hole. Another thing that really surprised me when I got mine, and especially after a few months of use, was the absolute rock-solid build quality. There's still no blade play whatsoever and I've never had any sort of hitch with the locking mechanism. This entry-level knife will most certainly not be my final Spyderco purchase; I can't really call myself a knife guy if I don't own a Para 2!

Oh my god do I 100% reccomend this knife.

Ive never spent this much on a knife before, I know its really not that much compared to other peoples standards but I am so happy I bought it.

It feels amazing in the hand, opens a bit tough at first but then gets real nice as you use it. Locks up great with absolubtly zero blade play.

This is some serious luxury ive read more never had in a knife in the past. Where has this thing been?

Buy it, love it, enjoy being impressed every day by it. Totally amazing.

Details:

Shapness is great, when I say hair shaving sharp I mean it. I hate it when people say it is and it isnt but this thing is fully capable of shaving hair. Just lightly stroke it against hair and its gone.
I got a coffee and decided to try cutting the card hand protectors that keep them from getting too hot, stood it up on its side and just pressed down slightly and it was one amazingly clean cut. So satisfying!

This is my pride and joy so I dont know about how long the sharpness lasts but it seems to be holding up really well, no signs of losing that out of box punch.

Outstanding knife for the price. Came very sharp out of the box, with a slightly sticky deployment, but became very smooth like all spyderco's typically are.

I love Spyderco and I love this knife. This is one my biggest EDC knives, but I like it too much not to carry it. I've sold multiple buddies on this knife also once they see it. It has got the classic look with the opening hole and it comes super sharp out of the box. I haven't had any issues with it.

First Spyderco

This was the knife that introduced me to Spyderco. I was hesitant at first but wanted to see what the hype was all about. It was inexpensive but well worth the money. It’s a quality blade that has served me well. The fit and finish is top notch with smooth operation and I can truly say I wouldn’t change a thing. Do not hesitate to buy this knife.

Good Budget EDC Knife

If you want an EDC knife without breaking the bank this is a good choice. Even though it is made in China, it is a Spyderco and I trust their quality. The blade material is not the best out there, but for the price it is good. It sharpens with ease and holds an edge pretty decently. I love the feel of the G-10 handles, they fit in the hand well. I love the black finish on the blade read more paired with the blacked out hardware and handle. I would recommend this knife to anyone that wants a good EDC or another knife for their collection. I love that a company like Spyderco will take the time to make a great budget EDC. It can be hard to find an EDC that is budget friendly and quality.

This is my first spyderco, my wife got it for me as a gift for Christmas. I've been very impressed. I've had a few knives in this price range that all have quirks that made me quit carrying them, but after about a month of this one I can gladly say I have zero issues. A new favorite and great price from bladehq.

I bought this excellent knife back in May and it hasn’t left my pocket since. I use it every day and even though I’ve purchased new knives since then, the Spyderco Tenacious is always in my pocket. I’ve put some hard use into it and i have only touched up the edge once or twice. Great knife.

The tenacious is perfect for an everyday carry or as a work knife. The blade holds a edge for a good amount of time and is very easy to put a razor edge on. It has a very smooth opening action and locks up very well. Only a slight amount of side to side blade play which is expected. The G10 provides a good amount of grip without being so sharp it destroys your pocket. Great purchase read more for anyone who loves knives. I have much more expensive ZTs and Benchmades and still enjoy carrying this knife

I use this knife all the time. It's my go to medium duty edc blade. It's easy to sharpen and it stays sharp.

This knife came sharp, solid lock up and super smooth! It’s a little larger than my persistance but still a good size to carry in my pocket. Holding it feels so good in the hand it cuts like butter! I don’t think I’ve had a better knife for this price point

Bought this knife for my sister for her birthday, and she loves it. She said she wanted a good starter knife and this was the first that came to mind. She picked out the green/black combination and it looks great. As usual, Spyderco fit and finish is great, opens and closes easily, lockup is early and good and tight with no play and she really likes the texturing on the handles. read more Sharp out of the box. I'll have to sharpen it for her when it needs it , but that's O.K.. I got another person interested in knives. Hope she doesn't stop here. I'll have to keep nurturing this. I'm kind of interested to see what she wants next. Thanks to Blade HQ for the great service. They got it to me in two days.

I daily a spyderco paramilitary 2, and my girlfriends little brother (15) collects knives but didn't have a good edc. I toyed with a few other options in the Kershaw and Ontario lineups, but ultimately decided to go with the spyderco. The knife was delivered in 3 days (way less time than the shipping predicted), and I put in the notes to write a birthday note for him. They did one read more better and drew balloons and big block letters on the package. I'm extremely satisfied with the knife ( spyderco is always a good choice) and with the company. Needless to say I will be ordering everything I can from bladehq.

If you're looking for an EDC knife, look no further. This knife will slice your soul in two out the box. Knife is made in China yet it came centered and lockup is superb with zero vertical or horizontal movement (Which I cannot say the same about my $180 MADE in America knife...). Spyderco Tenacious is an excellent knife. Just get it.

Is the steel the best? No. Is it made in China? Yes. That being said, I don't own a 45 dollar knife that even comes close to this knife. Quick deployment, solid lockup and very sharp out of box. The quality on this knife really is good. Even the affordable Spyderco knives are outstanding. They aren't "cheap." To me cheap means quality has been sacrificed. Nothing was sacrificed read more with this knife. If you don't want to spend a lot of money but you want a quality knife, buy it. It shocked me at how good this knife is for the money.

Hey guys,

This is the very first pocket knife I've bought and carried.
I've since bought several, a Kershaw Shuffle, a Spyderco Ambitious, a Kershaw Cryo II, a Benchmade Triage, a CRKT GSD, etc.. And yet the one that is still in my back pocket on a daily basis is the Tenacious.

It is cheap, discreet, solid (dropped it blade opened several times). I don't know much read more about the blade steel but I'm not a hardcore user so anything sharper than a butter knife works for me.

For a 1st or 10th knife, I would recommend the Tenacious in a heartbeat as an inexpensive folder.

Cheers.

This is a great knife for the money! Holds up nicely and very easy to sharp with the 8cr13mov blade. Good g-10 grip as well. The black coating does wear a little. Expected for the cost!

Spyderco Tenacious - Black Serrated Blade

I purchased this knife in May of 2012 and it has been with me in my pocket every single day since I got it. This knife is perfect for EDC and well handle everything you throw at it. The 8 Cr 13 MoV steel holds its edge extremely well. The finish on the blade is not so much as worn down and still looks great (save for the residue from tape and other past tasks I've put it through). read more The G10 handle feels great in hand and gives a robust, yet thin and accessible feel to the knife. The pocket clip is strong and holds the knife reliably in place without making it a chore to take out of your pocket. The shape and jimping give it a very positive retention in-hand. I am very hard on my EDC equipment and this is a great knife especially at the price.
