What KnifeCritic publishes
KnifeCritic is a publication about everyday carry and outdoor cutting tools. This first edition contains research-led buying guidance and manufacturer specification profiles. We have not completed hands-on tests of the products in this catalogue.
Three different kinds of evidence
Manufacturer specifications describe what a maker publishes for an identified variant. Editorial guidance sets out questions and tradeoffs. Hands-on testing requires an identified sample, method, observations and limitations. We do not label the first two as the third.
No invented scores or winners
There are no performance scores, star ratings or best-overall awards in this edition. A steel rating cannot stand in for a finished-knife test. Missing information stays missing; source conventions and conflicts remain visible.
Sources and changes
Each profile links to its original source and records the date checked. Guides identify their external research when they make a sourced claim. A checked date records our observation, not a promise that a manufacturer has changed nothing since.
Commercial links
This edition uses ordinary manufacturer source links. It has no affiliate purchase links, sponsored rankings, paid placements or live deals. If commercial relationships are introduced, the affected content must disclose them where the reader encounters the link or placement.
Images and authorship
Outdoor photographs are generic editorial images. Product photographs come from the identified manufacturers and show reference products, not samples we tested. Articles use an organizational editorial byline; no individual tester or credential is invented. Read the sources and image credits.
