Outstanding slipjoint folder
This knife, the Benchmade Proper, is a piece of art. The blade is elegant and effective, while the micarta handles are the nicest of any I’ve seen. It doesn’t have the sharp “walk and talk” of more traditional slipjoints (like the outstanding offerings from GEC), but it compensates by being relatively easy to open one-handed with a little practice (and closes one-handed… read more like a snap). The nail nick is mostly aesthetic, as the blade can be more easily pinched to open. All in all, this is a great traditional-looking knife which leverages modern materials and technology into one smooth package. Highly recommended.
Beautiful execution
Just got my Proper 319 from DLT Trading and it is a piece of art. Light, thin, it disappears in the pocket but feels capable in hand. The micarta scales are smooth but not slick, and the CPM S30V blade is perfect. Sharp as a razor on arrival. If you like traditional knives but want something that takes advantage of modern materials and engineering, this will do it for you. Highly… read more recommended. I can open it one-handed if I catch the end of the handle on my pocket edge, and it closes one handed very easily.

In the era of frame
In the era of frame lock flippers and and exotic materials, this knife reminds me that a tool as basic but well constructed as this, is sometimes all we need. So glad that i got it!!
