Unique looking knife.

It's unique looking enough but also not a novelty. It's a good EDC and the dagger style fits the design perfectly. I'm not a fan of the pocket clip though.

Poorly made

Logan h.

In all aspects you get what you paid for. Solid build, feels nice, and bonkers spring clip is great but it lacks parts that a normal Balisong would be standard. I compare it to a skateboard but instead of ball-bearings it just has a metal pipe and a screw with a washer inbetween. A lot of people complain about it coming loose and then not being able to fix it because it is just read more two metal pieces held together with a screw with a washer inbetween. It is not a bad item if you just want to show it off ever so often to people but if you actually want to train with it you should probably dish out more money and buy the bonker pro

It’s a great knife but …..

I love the blade. It’s slim very sharp hollow grind. The blade was well made. I never used it or carried it. That’s because the aluminum handles are very very slippery! I think if they would change the handle scales to a gripper chalk like aluminum or g10 then it would be a keeper. So I returned it today. I’m sad because 30.00$ is a very well price. Even tho it’s a 440c read more steel. I don’t mind. It’s just the slippery handle scales that made me make the decision to return it.

Solid feeling trainer

UPDATE: Although I still like the trainer for everything mentioned below, I'm changing my rating to three stars because, after a week, the latch no longer stays in place when the knife is closed. I've tightened the handle as it has loosened with use but the latch just won't keep the handles secure when not in use. Still a great trainer but if this had a live edge and the latch couldn't read more secure the handles, it would be a real issue.

**************

This trainer has a great weight and balance to it. Right out of the box it had smooth action and I didn't feel the need to lubricate it at all (unlike other trainers I've had in the past).

Great purchase and I'd definitely recommend it.

Best Trainer Thus Far

Durable smooth quiet. The only criticism is the overall length should be an inch to an inch and a half longer. This is quality here at a decent price. I've seen more expensive ones loose screws and pins -"falling apart!" -that's the reason for the 4 stars! This is the one to get!!It lasts a whole lot longer to the constant punishment. Mine lasted almost 2 yrs before it fell apart. read more The Best trainer out of the whole lot!!

Great Trainer

I really like this trainer knife because it allows me to do a lot more than with a live blade. I would recommend this to anyone who want to try out a butterfly knife so they cant hurt them self. I also love the sturdiness of this build and how sleek and lightweight this product is.The all around product is great hold really nicely. Love it 10/10

A little disappointed

CANDICE D.

I will admit this is my first experience with a butterfly knife and maybe I was expecting too much. After using the trainer for 4 days I find it has to be tightened often. So often, in fact, that I feel this can't possibly be normal. The spring clip is also not holding it closed anymore. Perhaps a more expensive knife would have been a better investment. However, if all trainers read more perform like this, I would be even more disappointed because I'd have wasted more money.

A worker

Nothing fancy about this one. It's heavy, has okay steel, but it's a knife you don't have to worry about. It can take a beating and sharpens up fast. Not easy to flip but it still snaps open with a flick of the wrist. I keep mine in the car heavy duty chores. Worth every penny.

Good value

It is a good trainer for the value. It flips well after a few weeks of frequent flipping, however one of the screws began to back out after the first week.

Truly outstanding value

Great steel trainer, perfectly balanced and weighted. Been using it heavily for a solid six weeks and it performs flawlessly.

Not bad, not perfect

Blade HQ service was awesome as always. Finish of the trainer is great but one of the screws has been difficult to tighten or loosen.

It's a fun, novelty bali and (for the price) I'd buy it again.

I like it now that I've tweaked it

Jamie A.

When it arrived the flipper action was STIFF. It's still a bit stiff. The D-tent is where it sticks. The open would be smoother if the flipper was a shade bigger with a slightly steeper angle. Also the liner lock did not engage well, maybe about a third engagement.

I took the knife apart and cleaned it. Lubed up the bearings and the dtent ball. The edge of the cut on the read more liner lock was rough so I smoothed the rough edge then the end of the lock where it engages the blade. I put it all back together and the initial flip still takes a bit of force but the action itself is similar to my mini Kwaiken, nice a smooth. The liner engages fully now with no wiggle. Lastly it feels great in my hand.

The replacement is much better

Frank B.

This is a re-write of a previous review. Blade HQ graciously replaced the first one and the replacement has worked well.

I ordered this knife because of the ample 4-inch blade and because the blade configuration leant itself to a straightforward honing process.

The knife arrived in a large steel tin, surrounded by a cardboard wrapper/box. The oversized tin contained read more a foam insert and the knife arrived in perfect condition. Like its container, the knife seemed sturdy and well-made. At 4.51 ounces, it’s a bit weighty, even for a knife of this size. The factory bevel is uniform right down to the point, but the factory edge was at best satisfactory for the price. The hefty steel blade stock is 440A, and it so I expected it to be easy to sharpen. I would have preferred 440C, but at this price point, this is a reasonable compromise.

The blade opened with authority and locked up tightly with no wiggle, although the lock bar was very slightly late. And indeed, after I was satisfied with the functionality of the knife, the 440A edge honed easily.

The knife’s styling and heft were attractive, and after obtaining a replacement, I am satisfied with this purchase.

Sweet Boker Flipper

Great Boker knife. Slim and easy to carry, but very solid. Sharp enough to shave with, very solid mechanically, but also with a very smooth opening mechanism. Slender enough to carry easily, but large and solid enough to handle any task.

Looks good, a little heavy, some issues

Dan T.

The design and functionality of this small pocket knife is good. It's great if you're limited to carrying a small blade, less than 2.5".
The good:
Great looking knife, that arrives in a sturdy tin box with a foam cutout that snugly holds the knife and makes a nice display. The knife ships with a combi-Torx wrench, T6 and T8. Nice touch for minor adjustments!
The issues:
- read more the pivot end of the knife is not assembled well. The scale on the liner lock side of the knife has a large gap at the pivot end, but is flush to the liner lock material at the opposite end.
- One of the two torx screws holding the pocket clip has a stripped head.
- Boker website expects a $14.95 fee for any and all warranty claims! So, getting this knife corrected wouldn't be cost effective.

Overall, the knife is a bit heavy for its size and the blade is fairly stiff to deploy, but is usable. Hopefully ease of blade deployment will improve with usage.

Classy

Brian C.

I like this knife. The wood handle is classy. The cleaver / straight edge style blade is in style, and I have been trying to get as many types of those as I can. The lock feels good. My only wish is that is opened more easily, but it not difficult by any means. I got spoiled by flippers and spring assisted knives.

Cheap for a reason

Sam R.

To summarize: Construction is made-by-a-drunken-toddler level shoddy.

Blade thickness varies significantly along the edge, knife cannot be fully disassembled, lockup varies wildly. I'd call this a novelty knife, but it has found its way into my lunch kit as a beater steak knife.

Still, wholesale lack of manufacturing effort is disappointing, even at the sub-$20 price read more tag.

Bargain, and loveliest kitchen knife

William C.

I did not buy the Cuisine 3 for camp cookery but it’s design is highly suited to that task. I bought it ‘cause it was interesting and cheap. Sort of a giant Barlow. But it turns out not to be cheap. True, it’s a 440A blade, but that is fine for this sort of light duty kitchen knife. Handles are indeed rosewood. Ample grip, large “sheep foot”-like blade. One hand open and read more closing is smooth and easy and tight lockup, I had none of the break in issues the earlier reviewer had. Impressive and inexpensive chopper.

I love this thing!

I am a maintenance technician and I use this knife all the time. I have gotten so many compliments and surprised looking faces on this knife. It fits nicely in your hand, and it has some durable weight to it. It's currently been my EDC for 5 months now and the knife has held up to the abuse. I've been cutting thick zip ties, electrical wires, hard plastic, wood, and a lot of cardboard. read more I wear the knife on the same side I keep my maintenance keys, so it's constantly being hit by them, adding character marks to that aluminum handle. The only downside of the knife that I can think of would be it's weight. I know if I were to drop this knife on tile, it'll chip or even break that tile in pieces, so be careful doing flips with the knife. Overall it's a cool reliable knife.

Nice knife

Nice knife, good fit and finish, the action was a little rough but smoothed out with use, very sharp out of box. Great for EDC.

Nice folder but dodgy Chinese build quality

Mike E.

I probably would rate this as 3.5 stars.

THINGS I LIKE
This is a substantial EDC knife in terms of length and weight. Nicely balanced, however, and the wood grip feels really nice in my hand.

The coloring of the blade, the frame, the pocket clip and the bolster match almost perfectly.

This is a deep pocket clip with finger contours that make it very comfortable read more to grip the knife.

Most clips have too much tension, and this one did, too. I removed it and ever so slightly bent it outward by maybe 0.05mm so that it can slide in and out of my pocket yet not fall out.

WHAT I DON'T LIKE
There was way too much tension on the pivot, even after breaking it in. A few minutes with a No. 9 star driver took care of it.

The blade is off center when closed. It's not a big deal, but if you're a perfectionist, this will annoy you.

The wooden handle fits perfectly on one side but on the other will need to be sanded down by maybe 0.1mm so that it mates correctly with the bolster. When you look through the side of the knife, you can see some screws protruding through the frame.

I should be able to knock those down with a Dremel.

The lanyard hole also wasn't clean. It still had wood particles in it.

This is a nicely designed knife that is hurt by a lack of skill (or care) by the Chinese workers. This is because the emphasis is on quantity. Quality is good but really needs to be be improved.

OVERALL
I really like this knife, and I'm glad that I didn't pay more than $40 for it.

For me, this knife feels absolutely perfect in my hands. Despite its weight, I can carry it all day without noticing it.

Boker needs to get better quality from its workers in China.

The quality is about 97% there, but that last 3% is inexcusable.

By the way, I'm keeping the knife, and I'll complete the last 3% myself.

This was an early Father's Day present (I bought for myself from my kids-they're so thoughtful!!!) and was very surprised by the shear elegance of it!

Solid lock up, centering is perfect, and the Damascus bolsters are the perfect touch. It's my first purchase from Boker, and will definitely not be my last. Well done.

Unfortunate experience

Will b.

I loved the lenght of this knife and made it my edc it was fun but the weight of the knife broke the liner lock system when the spine of the blade hit the pavment, it wasn't a good cutting knife and the manual flipper was stubby making a wrist flip manditory to deploy it at all.

It is a low cost knife but man was it poorly designed.

Lock stick

Tomas L.

Knife looked like it had potential with it's looks, however, it has bad lock stick and does not flip. You would think that it having a flipper tab that it would flip but nope. The knife is just a novelty item sitting in my sock drawer.

Good for the price

Matt D.

There are a some minor issues with uneven bevels and grinds and a slight sharpness on the back of the locking mechanism. I would recommend spending a little more money to get a slightly better knife. If you're handy though, you can fix the couple issues.

Awesome little beater knife for small tasks

Colton F.

Little fit and finish imperfections but overall a good $10 knife for stupid small tasks or to accompany your main EDC blade(s).

Worth the price, sort of

Paul z.

Its worth it for the price.

Mine wouldnt lock unless "flipped" out until the liner lock broke in a little, and now stick bad if engaged any more than lightly.

For $14, you get a big knife with a wood handle though, so why not?
