The replacement is much better
This is a re-write of a previous review. Blade HQ graciously replaced the first one and the replacement has worked well.
I ordered this knife because of the ample 4-inch blade and because the blade configuration leant itself to a straightforward honing process.

a foam insert and the knife arrived in perfect condition. Like its container, the knife seemed sturdy and well-made. At 4.51 ounces, it’s a bit weighty, even for a knife of this size. The factory bevel is uniform right down to the point, but the factory edge was at best satisfactory for the price. The hefty steel blade stock is 440A, and it so I expected it to be easy to sharpen. I would have preferred 440C, but at this price point, this is a reasonable compromise.
The blade opened with authority and locked up tightly with no wiggle, although the lock bar was very slightly late. And indeed, after I was satisfied with the functionality of the knife, the 440A edge honed easily.
The knife’s styling and heft were attractive, and after obtaining a replacement, I am satisfied with this purchase.
Sweet Boker Flipper
Great Boker knife. Slim and easy to carry, but very solid. Sharp enough to shave with, very solid mechanically, but also with a very smooth opening mechanism. Slender enough to carry easily, but large and solid enough to handle any task.
