Ratings and Reviews
It's good, but...
I bought the Pilar III before I bought this model, and the two just don't compare. My dislikes are: The flipper tab is a bit too big. The action isn't as smooth as the Pilar III. One-handed closing is a bit cumbersome, because of the way it catches on the frame lock once you've disengaged it and begin closing it.
Love the Flipper Tab
Contrary to other reviews I quite like the flipper and find that it has quite nice action but I can see how it could bother those with crowded pockets. The blade stock is thick but comes to quite a fine point that is easy to resharpen. I have this and a civivi elementum and I find that this actually has more pocket time than the elementum. The G-10 handles are very grippy and comfortable… read more and the frame lock is very neat. The sheeps foot blade has a nice belly and makes slicing quite enjoyable. I also appreciate the fact that there are multiple opening methods such as the obvious flipper tab but also the thumbhole flick or the spydie flick if you feel so inclined. The only problem I have is the lack of an ambidextrous clip so if you are a lefty you will have to carry in your right pocket if you want to carry it correctly. Overall, great knife for the price!
Better than it should be
This is great daily use knife. The size and "weight" of the blade is perfect for most daily duties, and performs brilliantly in detailed tasks. I really wish the large had the same aftermarket scale options of the standard Pilar. Would be better without the flipper IMHO, as it tends to be in the way while in pocket and only sorta works.
Good.
I like mine. Sure the flipper could be better but it is functional and the blade takes a wicked sharp edge and is easy to sharpen. In my opinion it’s better than the original because it is lighter and the addition of the flipper. Ergos are just as good if not better. If you like the original you will probably like this one.
